CHAPTER 37

I parted ways with BlackRose and logged out. When I returned to the desktop screen, I received another email from Linda, the informant.

Subject: Additional information
Sender: Linda
Message:
Orca was also investigating the Epitaph of Twilight. If you want to know more about this, you can ask a PC named Wiseman for more information. He specializes in trading, but he seems to be researching The World as a hobby. Wiseman runs a trade shop next to the Grunty ranch in Carmina Gadelica. Since he is a weird person who is a little stubborn, it may be easier to meet him directly and make your requests rather than trying to bargain.

See you soon. May the Twilight Dragon protect you.

I was grateful for the information. The only thing I got from my previous adventure was the fact that in the end I was hated by Balmung.

And the Epitaph of Twilight.

These were the word that Helba mentioned in her discussion with Lios.

I felt like I had an important clue.

When I re-logged in, I headed to Carmina Gadelica’s Grunty Ranch.

I immediately found out about Wiseman.

He was a white-haired Wavemaster in a jet-black outfit that went down to his ankles. He was a PC with the look of a wise man named Wiseman.

“Interested in a trade?” said Wiseman. He had a calm voice of indeterminate age.

As Linda advised, I decided to speak directly.

“I want to ask you about the Epitaph of Twilight.”

“Hmm.”

When Wiseman murmured, he stared at me, as if making a decision.

“That information won’t come cheap, even if the request comes from Kite, the holder of the Bracelet.”

“You know about me?”

He smiled.

“You and your friends are becoming famous in this story. Kite the Twin Blade with the Bracelet. BlackRose the Heavy Blade. I heard there are others as well… Well, that’s nice.”

He leaned towards me as he struck his hands together.

“Can you give me some time?”

“Some time?”

“Yes. To prepare an answer to your question. And the time to think about the reward I’ll get from you.”

“Isn’t the reward paid with GP?” I asked in surprise.

“That’s usually the case, but not this time. Things are things, and clients are clients. I feel like I want a special bonus.”

He pointed behind me and spoke in a gentle but unabashed tone.

“I’ll email you a reply tomorrow. So, please go home for now. I bid you adieu.”
