Will turned out to be a talented swordsman but also a talented healer too.

One spring when I was 5, I was running around the mountain.

With my wolf and bear friends we were fighting invading monsters.

Taking the lead, fighting to protect our allies.

I was confronted with a green ogre that was invading Table Mountain.

The green ogre is green all over and a monster that invades the mountains and devours forest animals.

No, it is not eating just to be satisfied but to slaughter weak animals. Killing these animals more than is necessary only to satisfy its own cruel needs. We can’t forgive such monsters.

I used the Mithril dagger Ronin gave me to drive off the ogre.

First, the quick wolf Shultz distracted the ogre to make a gap, I jumped into the gap and made a horizontal blow.

A single blow from a rusty sword would glance off an ogre’s skin but it does not end there. Ogres have monstrous strength.

Its arm swung out like a log and Hachi the bear caught it. Hachi was the strongest on the mountain.

While Hachi held the ogre down, I wrapped around behind them. Then pushed my dagger into the ogre’s neck. I didn’t hesitate. The stench of blood coming from the ogre was evidence of the many creatures it had killed before.

A moan rose from the ogre as it fell. I won the battle. I glanced over, noticing blood flowing from Shultz’s back, he had caught the ogre’s eye and seemed to have taken a blow.

I put my hand on the back of the wounded wolf and applied healing magic. His body glowed green and the wound closed.

“Wow!” the animals praised.

“I learned this from my mother Miria, she wants to make me a healer.”

The animals thought this was good, he would be able to protect them by becoming a healer.

“yeah, this is good but Ronin my father wants to make me a swordsman.”

“Wouldn’t it be good if you could become a healer and a swordsman.”

“That’s right, apparently that’s called a holy knight or paladin.”

“Then, in the future you would be a Holy knight.”

The wolf Shultz smiles, I grin.

“But I think my father Vandall wants to make me a magician,  I read thick textbooks and history books everyday.”

”Do you hate studying?”

“No way, I like wielding a sword just as much.”

“That’s annoying, swords, magic and healing. Do you have to master all three?”

“That’s right.”

“By the way, what would you call someone who has mastered all 3?”

I thought for a second, making a troubled face. I didn’t know.

”If you know swordsmanship and magic only you are called a magic swordsman. Swords, magic and healing, there’s no name for someone who has mastered all three.”

“Hmm, then you’ll have to make a new one.”

“Can I make one myself? I have no idea though.”

“Hmm, what about the name ‘hero’? Doesn’t that sound cool?”

“Hero… yeah, that sounds cool but my dad Vandal said that a when a hero is born they have a birthmark somewhere on their body when they are born.”

I looked over my body but could find no birthmark.

“Being a hero is not a profession but a title. My father said that a hero is a brave man who stands in front of something weaker than himself and protects them. So Will, you’re already a hero, a Table Mountain hero.” Shultz said without concern.

“I see… you’re right. Yes, I am a Table Mountain hero.” I reflected back on the word again.  I breathed in deeply.

“I’m a Table Mountain hero!” I shouted engraving this moment inside of me. The words echoed to every corner of the mountain.

The goddess of healing Miria appeared teary eyed. She was impressed by how well Will had grown up. Will who recently had been a baby had grown brilliantly. Moreover, he was a good healer.

Will had mastered the advanced magic ‘Instant Recovery’.

Of course it was Miria who had taught him this but she did not expect him to be able to use it at his age.

Will’s healing talent may be on par with the legendary saint who had taught Miria healing magic.

No, she wouldn’t have been able to use ‘Instant Recovery’ at this age. She looked forward to the future but there was one thing that concerned her.

Will’s appearance was as cute as a girls. Not only that, a boy who is stronger and more gentle than anyone else made Miria very proud.

Miria vowed to transfer Will’s appearance to a photograph and brag to the other gods. There was a meeting of healing gods coming up so she planned to be as much of a fool as she wanted to be.
