Wu Lan and Wu Fan sat in the quiet private room, discussing the information they had both collected, after they had caught their personal lives up to date. "Fan, so you mentioned that the North-West alliance, has begun moving again? Elaborate for me," Wu Lan said as she swirled her drink. The North-West Alliance consists of Country A, home to dwarves, Country B, home to nightmarish creatures called Drudes, Country D, home of the gentler elves, Country F, home of Alps and Aufhockers, and Country G, a large country where humans resided, ruled over by ancient witches.
Wu Fan started expanding on his earlier statement, "Lan, do you remember the software repository you made for us? We used it to intercept and decrypt messages sent in Country B's government server, and used holes we made there to enter the other countries' communications. Country A is reportedly mass manufacturing weapons for humans and aufhockers to use. Country B and F are collecting more people for their volunteer army, the Wild Hunt, with the promise of abundant prey, since Drudes and Alps feed off of despair and nightmares. Country D is building and training their army for defense, and country G is training their army as well. No matter how you look at it, they're preparing for a war. The only question that remains now is who they're planning to attack."
"I was recently in Country F for a conference, there was an unusual amount of humans there. Apparently, I had offended someone enough for them to send a group of amateur mercenaries, practically delinquents, to kill me. After I took them down, they confessed that a lady at Yellow Pines hotel had sent them after me with some sort of sob story and high payoff. I was wondering whether it was from an enemy corporation, but nobody from the Ling family would be dumb enough to come after me. Is it possible that it was an Aufshocker testing me out with some oblivious humans?" Wu Lan revealed.
"It's more likely than not," Wu Fan admitted. "It's pretty well known that the CEO of Silver Tech is a Wu, and it isn't too hard to connect the dots, even if you don't appear in public often and the general population thinks you're a man. Aufshockers are shapeshifters, so it would be all too easy to fool an unsuspecting group of high school age mercenary wannabes. I'll just have to continue monitoring the situation then. I'll be staying in the capital for about a week before I leave for Country I to give the more sensitive information to the family head. Ahem, on another note, have I mentioned that I don't have a place to stay while I'm here? Can I stay at your place for a week, my favorite younger sister?"
"Yeah, sure, anything for you, my favorite brother," Wu Lan said, rolling her eyes. "Even if I could say no, I wouldn't." A glance at the clock revealed the time to be nearing eight. "Just so you know, Ling Xiu is coming by with her older brother in about ten minutes."
"That little girl who was fighting on your team back then? Hasn't it been almost six years since you last saw her? Also, if I recall correctly, she was an orphan." Wu Fan asked, confused. Wu Lan explained Ling Xiu's circumstances to Wu Fan, albeit an abbreviated version of the whole tale. "So she's one of those Lings, eh? And she's bringing Ling Zheng, your newest business partner, along with her? That's all good and well, but I wonder what she looks like now, that girl was hot when she was 15, she must be a real looker," Wu Fan pondered.
"Pedophile," Wu Lan muttered just loud enough for Wu Fan to hear.
His eyes widened and a strained smile appeared on his face, "Now, now, little sister, I meant that she would be hot as an adult, she is an adult now, correct? I think you have the wrong idea, I am assuredly not a pedophile, you of all people should know that!''
"Oh? Just because I've seen you with adult women doesn't mean that you aren't a pedophile. I seem to recall seeing you with a high school senior about three years ago, that sounds like a kid to me," Wu Lan smirked.
"What, how did she--" he muttered before indignantly saying, "That was a one time thing, one time, I swear! Your brother isn't a pedophile, trust me, Little Lan!"
Wu Lan started snickering, "I accept you for whoever you are brother, now let's just drink and stop talking, okay?" She passed him a bottle and raised her own in the air.
Even while vehemently denying that he was a pedophile, Wu Fan clicked a toast with Wu Lan, and they took deep swigs out of their bottles.
Some minutes later, Ling Zheng and Ling Xiu opened the door to the sight of two siblings surrounded by empty glasses, now drinking straight from the bottle. Ling Zheng's eyes popped out, "What type of alcohol tolerance is this? They should be dead by now!"
