Volume I Chapter 5   Hands Were Tied Waiting in Captivity

No way!

The rumbles of thunder were so deafening that they nearly cover Qin Qian’s painful squealing. Su Su looks up to see the dark clouds in the sky swirling like a whirl abover he heard, a liver lightning flash divides the sky under. Su Su thinks of a solution to get Qin Qian out of her dilemma.

Another touch of bright lightning flashes across the sky, Su Su covers her head frantically and shouts at the top of her voice, “Storm! Storm is coming!” She is taking gamble. If the pirates do not care about the lives of others, it is impossible not to care about their own lives, even if that black boat is big, but still it is helpless against the power of the storm. She believes the pirate on the ships, for the trivial matter of huzi, they have to give him that break and be willing to stay in this storm.

Sure enough, a handle of a silver gun separates Qin Qian and the bandit in the middle, the cruel undisguised impatience and disgusts in his voice, “That’s enough, put it off until later.”

Ah-leng is gloomily flashing the silver gun, the huzi  seems to be somewhat afraid of the consequences, curls his lips and  groans, “Just wanting to be entertained, that’s all.”

The man carries the silver gun on his shoulder, “Your idea of fun is to the point of death.”

“Talk nonsense!” The bearded man shouts in uncontrollable rage and scolds, “Lao-tze fought 300 wars with no problem!”

Mouth swearing huzi  no longer tears Qin Qian’s clothes but easily lifts Qin Qian on his shoulder, and whack the lady’s hips and laughs, “Little beauty, let’s go!”

“Let me go!” Qin Qian still constantly struggling, huzi man conveniently hits her behind her neck, Qin Qian flexible body faints.  Huzi’s powerful step threads the side of the boat along, then unexpectedly springs up and lands on the black boat.

Su Su’s strongest martial arts element is Shiba lian. She watches the huzi carry Qin Qian and his light movements accomplished so much without any effort. A person who is carrying a body and is able to leap three ten feet* ( 10 Chinese feet is 3.3 m), there is no doubt, his  internal strength is quite deep.

“Tie them all up and drag them together including the ship. Keep four people to watch after them.” The silver gun man commands and then on the way to return to the black ship, he suddenly stops and glances behind him and says, “Walk, ah.”

“This ship seems a little more stable, I will stay on this ship.” A light male voice tranquilly sounds, startling Su Su’s heart and making it tremble a little.

This yawl could be steadier than their warship? She glances a look at that human one more time, the man with the gun man humphs lightly, then just said two words, “Suit yourself,”  He never turns back and jumps back  on the black ship.

Until that last conversation, Su Su notes that by the cabin door actually stood a man.

He seems to have quietly appeared. Dressed in a silver-gray robe, covered with one plain black cape, his skin is pale like the people coming out of the capital of Kyoto or the warmer Southern country, nothing special, but in this pirate’s heaps, the fair glare of his skin was dazzling, really too conspicuous. The man has entirely indifferent temperament, not cold, but the eyes, like a deep well of stagnant water, yes, that’s stagnant water, not the mighty wave appearance.

On his shoulder, steadily perched a bird. Su Su readily recognizes it; indeed a red bird of prey, this falcon is all black. The vicious scarlet red eye washes the whole look; it was very prominent. The sharp beak is similar to a front hook. Red falcon, to her knowledge, are the most ferocious bird more than a goshawk (gray hawk). Its build is not big, its endurance is actually astonishing, it can fly three days and nights continuously without stopping or resting. Very aggressive and strong offensive capability and its favorite thing to do is pecking the eyes. This terrifying red falcon, which humans are afraid of, now actually obediently rests on that man’s shoulder.

Who is he? Is he a pirate?

“Blame it on me! Blame it on me!”

Su Su is still immersed studying the man who had come from nowhere and did not notice Lao Yu beside her until the sad hoarse and mournful voice breaks into her consciousness.

“If I had listened to you before to advance the ship to the reef forest, the young lady would not be caught and my child would not have died!” Lao Yu beats his own chest; his eyes cannot daringly look at the tragic death of his son.

At this time, Su Su does not know what to say to comfort him. She opens her mouth and tells him some random words, “The dead are still dead, and things are unpredicatable. Don’t be too hard on yourself.”

The four pirates left behind, take two long ropes and prepare to tie up everybody. They tied up their hands together in a string fashion. Regarding the rope knots, Su Su has long ‘cooked and ate them with all her heart’s content’*, while they are fastened, she is playing a bit narrow-minded. All she needs is just a little gap; if she really wants to get rid of the rope, it is not difficult.

*Various knots law she knew each one of them by heart

After her hands are tied, Su Su conveniently sits there. Qin Yan’s acupuncture points no longer suppress him. Being tossed about earlier, he is already exhausted, limp and couldn’t move anymore.

The two pirates lift the corpse and the mutilated head on the deck. Devoid of expressions, they throw the body overboard, over the windy weather where the waves are rolling in. Even the splash could not be heard. The human body is completely gone leaving only the large tracts of frightful bloodstains that shows the tragedy that has occurred.

The rainstorm came without delay and the raindrops fell on each face and body on the deck. The bloodstain is washed away by the heavy rain and the scarlet color starts to fade. That light red bloody water on the deck flows towards the crewmembers, under their foot, that water, as if, seizes every opportunity.

As if the blood is corrosive poison, the crew retreats their steps to escape from it until there are no more space left to retreat.

“No, coming to the enemy’s side we will die anyway, it is better to take a risk and fight … … fight … … fight!” At this time, the last one tied up is going crazy and suddenly yells, “There are only a few of them, let’s fight them!”

Su Su recognizes him as the person who has a very good relationship with Yu Si. His name is Ah Yang. Unfortunately, at the present situation, the opportunity to fight is not even there, also that black caped man* (Moyi) is left on the fishing boat. He is surely not an average person. Even if they are able to recapture the fishing boat, there are still two warships ahead, more so on those ships, they have forts; the pirates will bombard them as soon as they try to escape. If they do not die in the fire, they will be swallowed up by the rough sea; the final result, all will be buried at sea.

Moyi   * ink stick ( because of his black cape, let’s call him using Chinese description until  his name and  identity was revealed, its easier to say Moyi than black caped man or ink stick cloth man–Forgive  your lazy translator… )

Perhaps the last to be tied cannot bear the strong rope, and he is open to fight Ah Yang, lets him break free.

The rainstorm struck, the four pirates also retract inside the cabin. Ah Yang sees that the Southern man with the black cape has a thin stature and isn’t carrying a sword in his hand. Thinking of catching him and holding him, perhaps they can threaten the pirates to give in regardless if they die, Su Su’s fierce stern voice rings, “My goodness, do not be impetuous and come back here quickly!” Ah Yang is confident and still goes ahead towards the Moyi man.

Ah Yang is not yet close to the cabin when he hears a sharp, intense falcon humming sound. Sitting on the shoulder of the man dressed with a black cape, the red falcon suddenly rushes from his shoulder and attacks Ah Yang.

Su Su was focusing on Ah Yang’s vain scheme when she sees a shadow soars and quicly swoops down. She feels chill run down her spine as the red falcon’s claw scratches will not just be wounds but leave scars. If it chooses to peck the eyes, then the person will be blind. Hands tied, Su Su is too late to think. Instinctively, she lifts her hand to cover her eyes, holding down Qin Yan, she forbids him to look up and makes him face down on the floor. Frozen and standing in the middle of the deck was Ah Yan, she warns him out loud, “Ah Yang, face down to the ground quickly!”

The next seconds-

“Ah! My eyes!  My eyes…”

Sure enough, it is worthy to be called the endurance, fearless red bird of prey. It does not fear the storm. There is no way it can open the eyes continually because of the intensity of the raindrops but also dares to spread the wings to soar and attack the prey

Seeing the red falcons soar to the horizon and plunged downward, Su Su quickly warns everybody, “Everyone get down! Protect your eyes!”

This time, they finally recover their composure, neatly fall down to the ground and are afraid to raise up his head once again..

The red falcon hovers in the sky a few times, eventually does not swoop down and then flies back to Moyi man’s side.

Su Su is relieved, but felt there were a pair of eyes on her. Su Su looks back across the heavy rain and fog, with those dark pair of eyes looking straight at her for one short moment. Su Su immediately lowers her eyelids, draws away her eyesight from the Moyi man.

Her mother told her when you see someone watching you, with just one flicker of making eye contact, they are also reading you like you are doing so to them. In those dead black eyes, she does not see anything and pulls back. She is afraid of what he would see in her eyes, so she escapes. She will never ever allow her shortcomings become the merits of others. In other words, she will not let her weak points become other’s strong points.

The crewmembers tow Ah Yang back, his eyes are already in pain. His eyes became immediately blind by the red bird of prey’s pecking. One side is also scratched by the sharp claws. The four pirates look at their prisoners indifferently; unexpectedly, they do not do anything or say anything to embarrass Ah Yang.

Su Su is positive the pirates are not here for wealthy. They caught so many vigorous young men, what do they want to do? That Moyi man, is he really a pirate, are they now going to the pirate’s den?

It seems, there are many secrets and exciting things waiting for her, she feels her heart faintly tizzy and secretly takes a deep sigh.  The storm’s rain and wind pounds against her body. Su Su bows her head and crouches in the corner, like a hibernating animal, motionless.
