A Person That Mustn’t Abandon

Huan Yuan’s leg slipped and his body bent 90 degrees. Once again he had lost his footing, he knew that something bad will happen. After all, there’s no stable footing that he could rely on while his body is in the middle of the air.

However, his mind was clearer at times like this.

Rong Zhi Rong Zhi, your plan really is perfect, every conceivable possibility had been taken into account.

Huan Yuan smiled bitterly as that thought went through his mind, and at that moment his body dropped.

He had already expected everything, including the assassination, not to mention that the assassin was hired by him…… In fact, he believes that the assassin was unable to even recognise him.

Or maybe, everything was going accordingly to Rong Zhi’s plan.

For this kind of flawless plan to be described as scary, would be underestimating it.

Huan Yuan had never felt this kind of despair before.

But alas, it has nothing to do with him anymore, at least the scenery here was still exquisite, maybe it’s not so bad to bury his bones here.

He’s already tired.

If the only way he could obtain freedom was to conquer Rong Zhi’s scheme, then he admits that his skill is incompetent compared to him. If Rong Zhi planned to kill him, then he shall grant his wish.

Perhaps he could finally be granted peace if he dies here.

However, before the strong wind had blown upon him, he suddenly felt his arm caught in a hold, as if someone was strongly holding on his hand, and then his body stopped falling and was hanging from the cliff.

Who saved him?

Huan Yuan was shocked as his body was pulled up, he will probably never forget this scene in his lifetime: the person whom he had always hated, was now standing on the cliff, struggling to hold onto his hand.

Compared to the shock that Huan Yuan received, Chu Yu felt even more helpless: If she ever knew that this would happen after unconsciously grabbing his hand, then she would’ve controlled her hand no matter what.

Just a moment ago, when she caught glimpsed of Huan Yuan falling down from the cliff, she didn’t even think about it and unconsciously raised up her hand to hold onto him.

But her strength was not enough, she wasn’t able to pull up Huan Yuan, instead she was pulled by the force of gravity along with him and fell over the cliff. However, one of her hand had held onto a rock, and her body stuck close to the ground, hence she didn’t get thrown off the cliff altogether.

Even so, she didn’t have any strength left, it’s impossible for her to lift up a man weighing over 100 pounds.

A part of her body was exposed to the air, and it felt as if there was something pulling her down slowly. Chu Yu gritted her teeth, she felt as if her arms were going to snap off, but she unconsciously held onto Huan Yuan’s hand tighter than before.

Huan Yuan blankly stared at Chu Yu, his mind was empty.

Her?

Chu Yu couldn’t see the situation from her position, she could only hear sounds from the fight, sometimes near and sometimes far away. Someone had even stepped on her, but according to the strength, she could estimate that the one who stepped on her was Liusang.

He was the lightest of the group.

Since they couldn’t see the scene, their hearts started to feel anxious, the people are still fighting on top of the mountain, the situation was in a deadlock, while Huan Yuan was still hanging off the cliff with Chu Yu laying on the cliff holding onto him. Yue Jiefei couldn’t get himself out of the fight as he was fighting against four opponents, and although Liusang’s sword skill was getting better and better, he couldn’t finish off his opponent, rescue the two people and take them back to a safe place.

Chu Yu smiled bitterly, now she is in a dilemma where it was difficult for her to either advance or draw back, it’s impossible for her to pull Huan Yuan back up, but she also couldn’t stop Huan Yuan’s weight from pulling them both downwards either, and although they were only slowly getting pulled down, with the speed not even be noteworthy, Chu Yu knew that the more she gets pulled down, the more her life is in danger.

During this situation, the easiest way to save herself is to release her hand, release Huan Yuan, the big burden, this way she can easily preserve her life.

It’s not like she doesn’t know that, she just couldn’t do it.

The feeling of slowly getting pulled down to hell was painful, as if a blunt knife was sometimes rubbing on her hand, but she couldn’t let go.

If she had known that this situation would’ve happened, she might have hesitate and missed the chance to rescue Huan Yuan, and if she missed catching his hand, she’ll would’ve just felt guilty for a short while.

But now, since she held onto Huan Yuan, she is his only hope to live, she couldn’t convince herself to release her hand. If she releases her hand in this kind of situation, then there would be no difference to murdering someone.

Although the mountain wasn’t too tall, it was still considered a mountain, so if they fell down, there’s a 99.99% chance that they won’t survive.

Life is so precious, Chu Yu who had lived for thousands of years and experienced death before understood the principle very well.

“Princess! Release Brother Huan. It’s too dangerous!” Liusang who was still fighting, finally realized that Chu Yu’s body had moved a few inches towards the edge of the cliff, but he couldn’t get himself out of the battle, so he shouted in fright.

Because of that shout, a few assassins finally realized they were going after the wrong target, and  started attacking in a manner that was more crazed than before, Yue Jiefei almost couldn’t defend against their attacks.

When Huan Yuan heard Liusang’s voice, his chest slowly started getting numb. In the Princess’ house, except for Jiang Yan who had the same interest as him, the second closest to him would be Liusang, this cute little child, but as time passed by, he had forgotten that the princess would always come first inside Liusang’s heart.

If it’s for the princess, then it’s alright even if he needed to throw everyone else away.

He knew that he shouldn’t care about this, but unavoidably, his heart started to despair: defeated by Rong Zhi forever, unable to obtain freedom forever, forever thrown away by the people closest to him.

If that’s his life, then what’s the point of saving this life?

Suddenly, a voice awakened him from his thoughts.

“Don’t release your hand.”

Due to Chu Yu using all her strength, she was hardly able to spit out a line before her face blushed red: “Don’t release your hand.”

An assassin finally saw an opening and raised his long sword before throwing himself towards Chu Yu, Yue Jiefei tried to stop him, and although the aim of the sword was slightly altered, it was still going towards Chu Yu’s direction. Luckily, it went for the top of her head and only cut off her hair clasp, causing her long, silky hair to fall out of place, covering her face.

Chu Yu was so shocked by the sudden attack, that her body was covered in cold sweat, even the hand she was holding, Huan Yuan’s hand, had secreted out some sweat, making both of their hands slippery, making it difficult to hold onto his hand.

Chu Yu gritted her teeth and said: “Huan Yuan, hold on tight, don’t release your hand.”

Huan Yuan’s eyes widened, he couldn’t believe that Chu Yu had said that.

What has he…… just heard? Did he start hallucinating after feeling so much despair?

That person’s face was covered by the shadow of her hair, but her pair of eyes were shining brightly as she stared at him.

Don’t release your hand, she had actually said that.

Huan Yuan had always thought that there was nobody in this world who would hold onto him.

During these troubling times, fate was as light as duckweed, who would spare extra effort to care about other people’s lives?

So how come there was a person, who hadn’t hesitated to reach out her hand during this crucial moment of his life and death, regardless of the danger of being hung at this windy cliff, holding onto him so tightly?

Was it actually her?

How could it be her?

Rong Zhi, you planned everything, but have you ever expected this?

Chu Yu didn’t know about Huan Yuan’s surging feelings towards her, she difficultly continued saying: “Don’t give up so fast, you must endure, a chance will come.” Who knows, maybe the next moment Liusang and Yue Jiefei could immediately finish off the assassins?

Even though the chance was abnormally small, they must not despair while there is still some chance.

Before being able to finish her words, Chu Yu heard Liusang’s happy voice coming from behind, and she felt happiness from the bottom of her heart, she knew that there was probably a chance, so she reluctantly turned her head and used the corner of her eyes to take a look, she could only see some bloody clouds and a bright shadow of victory.
