Fear is the belief in unreal ideas which convincingly seem to be true but are not. This is a virtue- no, a vice predominant in everyone especially teenagers. It is that state where you have a feeling that something would go wrong, but which many times don't actually turn out so. Or even when it does, our feelings don't really change much rather than give us more misery. Fear diminishes the statue of God. In our generation, the devil tries his possible best to imbibe fear in the hearts of people, making them afraid for no just reason. Putting in our minds obscene ideas about the unforeseen, shaking us off balance, causing us to lose hope in what we believe in are the devil's schemes of fear.

When you do not treat fear the right way, it makes you try to do God's work; I call it taking a pain reliever for someone else's headache. Most teens fear due to lack of knowledge and the fact that they are not deeply rooted in Christ.

Fear is caused by life's daily activities and allowing Satan have his way in our hearts. It causes us to do many silly things like tremble, sweat, turn red … Most times fear leads us right into the danger we were trying to run away from.

In a bid to be an effective T-4-G, we have got to believe God when He says, "Fear not for I am with you"- Isaiah 41:10 and "Let not your heart be troubled... believe in me"- John 14:1. This means, no matter what the circumstances are like, everything will work out fine as He will never fail nor forsake you. Now, if you want to take a bold positive step but are afraid, just, "go ahead and do it afraid".

Fear comes to everyone but what you do in that fear makes the difference between victory and defeat.

When God leads you to the edge of the diff,

Trust Him fully and let go,

Only one of two things will happen,

Either he will catch you when you fall,

Or he will teach you how to fly! – Anonymous

(Pssst, if you fall, don't worry you'd make it to heaven or perhaps the hospital –lol.)

FEARING THE NEXT STEP

Now, we all have issues and several causes to be afraid especially when faced with new challenges. In fact, most of us experience fear when we try something new – the fear of the unknown: a new relationship, new growth on our bodies (in puberty and all), new move, or just anything. Know that you might never succeed if you keep giving into fear. It is alright to get scared but then, you must learn to stand up to that fear with courage and move on. The story is told of a cautious man who never laughed or played; he never risked anything; never tried nor cried; never sang and never prayed. He hated not and loved never. One day by and by, he passed away. His insurance (the only thing he risked) was denied. It was said that since he never really lived, then truly, he never died! What's the lesson: LIVE!

The fact is we all fail but that doesn't mean we have to live in fear of failure or new things. Faith in God is what gives you the courage to confront your fears and live the life He meant you to live.

Trust me I know and have cried the tears of 'Had I known' severally. Fear is a 'spirit' and if you let it, it will control you. God offers three better options: power, love and a sound mind.'

While we overcome our fears we should learn to be out there for others too because we all need each other. This brings to mind a certain story:

A mouse looked out through a crack in a farmhouse wall and was distraught to discover a mousetrap. When he went to tell his buddies, the chicken said 'Sorry, pal, not my problem.' The pig said, 'I'll pray for you.' The cow was busy and said 'Come back later.' Dejected, the mouse was left alone to handle his problem. That night, a poisonous snake got caught in the mousetrap and when the farmer's wife went to investigate, she got bitten. She developed a raging fever, and everyone knows you treat a fever with chicken soup. So the farmer took his axe to the barn for the main ingredient! As his wife's condition deteriorated and neighbours gathered, he had to butcher the pig to feed them. Finally, she died. So many people came to the funeral that that he ended up slaughtering the cow to make dinner for them all. In the end, everybody lost.

So, you see, it isn't just in times of fear alone but always, we need each other. So let's encourage ourselves...

I guess that's enough on that for the moment. Why don't we talk about something else?
