Lee Jong-suk was waiting for the arts teacher to come, it seemed like he was going to come after having lunch in the faculty cafeteria.

His gaze was directed where it seemed like the elderly grey haired teachers were dining together.

And the teachers were done having their food and were going to drink coffee and the arts teacher got close to…

“Principal”

“Oh Teacher. Have a cup of coffee”

The arts teacher nodded his head and took coffee as the principal asked and extended the drawing paper in his hand.

“Look at this once.”

“What is this?”

The principal looked took the drawing paper and unfolded it and smiled.

“It is a nice image. And…. Oh! This is.”

Looking at the shocked principal the arts teacher nodded his head.

‘I knew you would like it.’

The principal had a lot of interest in poetry. So keeping this in mind this was done.

“I know that you principal sir are proficient in calligraphy but did you see the diagram?”

“I learned a little from my grandfather but is there anything I can do about it.”

Unlike his words the principal’s grade was of Master grade in calligraphy. Although he calls it basic, it is enough to win him a prizes at the meetings where writers gather together.

The principle bobbed his head slightly and realized that there was a kind of smell coming out of the drawing paper.

“However…. Did doesn’t seem like this was written from any kind of edible. It seems like this was written recently.”

The principal looked at the arts teacher.

“Teacher did you write this?”

“Not me but a student of mine drew and wrote it today in the arts hour.”

“A student?”

“That too with an art brush.”

Amazement arose on the face of the principal at these words of the arts teacher.

“Wow! I feel like seeing the student once.”

“He is in the arts room now, how about we go and meet him?”

The principal nodded his head at the question of the arts teacher.

“A student of this glory is a student in our school so there isn’t a chance of not meeting him.”

***

Lee Jong-suk was waiting in the arts room for the art teacher to come.

“When is he going to come?”

When he thought that the lunch hour is going to end, the door opened suddenly.

Cirk!

At the sound of the door opening Lee Jong-suk’s body shifted and wonder rose to his face.

“Principal sir?”

Those who entered were the principal and the vice-principal. The people of the highest order in the school came in one after the other and Lee Jong-suk with awe immediately bowed.

“Good afternoon.”

However when both the teachers entered he was not able to look at either of them.

At the greeting of Lee Jong-suk both the teachers smiled and nodded their heads.

“You are Lee Jong-suk?”

“Yes”

“Hmm! Okay, so you write well?”

The arts teacher who came in a bit late looked at Lee Jong-suk’s face which was filled with awe and said.

“The principal saw your writing and felt that it was very high and praise worthy.”

“The writings I wrote?”

The principal unfolded the drawing paper as Lee Jong-suk was wondering what they were talking about.

“We are talking about this.”

“Oh….”

At the reply of Lee Jong-suk the principal smiled and asked.

“So can I watch you write once?”

It is the end, but it is the same as writing.

“Sure.”

“Do you have a paper?”

At the request of the principal the arts teacher brought a drawing paper from somewhere and placed it on the desk.

The arts teacher approached the desk of Lee Jong-suk and mixed water into Indian ink and was about to taste it when the principal shook his head.

“That is something that only you do.”

“Ah! Is that so.”

The arts teacher went back a little and the principal looked at Lee Jong-suk with curious eyes.

Appetite arose in the eyes of Lee Jong-suk after seeing it. It felt like the ink was sticking onto his hand.

“So ink gives out the kind of feeling?”

In reality there was calligraphy class in the arts class too. So he knew how to use the ink but this was the first time he felt ink on his hands.

After holding the ink in his hands for a while Lee Jong-suk took the ink from the ink stone and began to write.

Slik! Slik!

The ink from the ink stone felt a little rough for Lee Jong-suk but this made Lee Jong-suk feel comfortable.

‘Does using ink supposed to feel this good? Is this also an experience that I got from the bachelor?’

After feeling a little comfortable he began to write and watching his posture the principal’s eyes went wide.

From curiosity to admiration.

‘Great concentration’

The principal was a man who learned at a young age from his grandfather who bought a manor in the Joseon Dynasty.

So he was very proficient in calligraphy, when an expert know an expert and in the same way after seeing Lee Jong-suk take the ink the principal knew he was a skilled person.

‘I don’t think this is the same as what grandfather used to.’

“By writing calligraphy my mind feels content. And in the beginning when I take the ink, when the ink is touched my mind I feel like complete.”

The words of the principals grandfather and his determination could been seen when Lee Jong-suk was writing.

Slik! Slik!

To some extent the sensation of his hand faded away as he moved the brush.

“What are you writing?”

“Hmm… how about our Lee Jong-suk here write his favorite article?”

Listening to his principals words Lee Jong-suk thought for a while and nodded his head.

‘I’ll write something from The Royal Family.’

The content of the book The Royal Family was already in his head. And it seemed like he was already writing it down.

<이청득심(xyz)> (T.N- 이청득심= Caligraphy written in Korean, xyz= Chinese text)

The principal was astonished by seeing Lee Jong-suk write down the word.

“It means to know a person’s heart by listening.”

The principal took a close look at what Lee Jong-suk wrote down and said.

“The handwriting is simple yet striking at the same time. If seen closely it is clean and gives out a beautiful feel…. Feels like I’m looking at the handwriting of King Mungyeong.”

‘King Mungyeong?’

The principal looked at Lee Jong-suk who was thinking about the identity of King Mungyeong.

“From whom did you learn to write like this?”

“Just by looking at books….”

“From books? So you didn’t learn this from a different school or any elderly?”

“Yes.”

“Wow! To learn this kind of handwriting and style by oneself is not an easy thing to do, this is extraordinary.”

The principal nodded his head and carefully lifted the writing of the table and took out his wallet.

“This writing has a great value.”

Lee Jong-suk looked at his principal who took out five thousand won out of his wallet and hastily shook his hands.

“It is alright sir.”

“No. this is not something that your teacher is giving, this is something that a person who admires calligraphy has found a calligraphy style that he like is giving, so just accept it.”

At these words from his principal, Lee Jong-suk accepted the money hesitantly.

“Thank you very much.”

“It would be nice if I see more of the calligraphy from now on.”

Tring! Tring!

When the principal was admiring the writing the bell rang informing the commencement of the classes.

‘Oh shit!’

As he couldn’t rest Lee Jong-suk was cursing in the inside but he put up a smile on his face.

Because he couldn’t show anger in front of his principal.

“Go and catch your class.”

“Yes sir”

The principal looked at the writing and smiled while Lee Jong-suk bowed to them and went out

of the arts room.

“이청득심… is a good thing to write”

“What does it mean?”

At the question of a teacher the principal smiled and opened his mouth.

“Listen what others have to say to receive a heart. It means since one can’t impose themselves on others, one needs to listen well to others and think about what they have to say and do things for them in return.”

“Its bright word for a test.”

“You think so? HaHaHa”

The principal who was in a good mood carried the drawing sheet and took out his hand phone extended it to the arts teacher.

“Would you mind taking a photo.”

To see if the arts teacher took a good picture the principal took the phone but looking at it the principal wrinkled his eyes

“Not me just take the picture of the writing.”

“Ah! Yes sir.”

So the arts teacher once again took the phone and snapped a picture, the principal then sent the image to his friends.

[Received a good writing and wanted to see with you]

After sending the message the principal looked at the writing once again when his hand phone suddenly beeped.

Ting! Ting! Ting!

The principal looked at his hand phone to see the messages that have come.

[The handwriting is nice]

[이청득심….  Great handwriting and a great meaning too.]

[Where did you get it? Why is there no optimism? By seeing the nice writing style is it written by some famous calligrapher?]

[I want to see it directly. Let’s look at the story once.]

Looking at the messages from his friends who were jealous made the principal laugh.
