That year, Yang Yun was chosen to accompany the General to the capital city for an official task. General Jiang Xiao Xian took him and a few others to stay at his family residence. Yang Yun could recall how excited he was when he first met the old General, Jiang Huan.

The Old General was his idol. When he stayed in the Jiang's residence, Jiang Huan was friendly towards him. He watched them practiced, and once in a while, he would give him some pointers.

One morning, Yang Yun saw Jiang Mingyue sneaking into the Jiang's residence. Yang Yun thought that she was a thief. But before he could approach her, Jiang Huan appeared. Soon, Yang Yun could hear the Old General reprimanded her. Only when she left did he walked to the Old General to ask him about the person.

"That is my daughter, Mingyue." Jiang Huan answered.

Yang Yun looked at the direction where she disappeared and then to the Old General. "Your daughter?" His jaw dropped in surprise. "Not a thief?"

The Old General laughed at his reaction. "My daughter may be a troublemaker, but she's not a thief."

He looked at the Old General with astonishment. "That person is not a man?"

Jiang Huan pulled a face. It was clear that he was dissatisfied with Yang Yun's words. "My daughter is too beautiful to be a man, don't you think?" He laughed when Yang Yun looked at him with his cheek reddened. "Sometimes Mingyue would wear a man's clothing to sneak out. That's fine," he waved a hand. "It's safer this way. At least no pervert would mess with her."

From that day on, Yang Yun would always see Mingyue whenever he comes back to stay at the General's house. Sometimes, he caught her sneaking in, and sometimes, he caught her climbing over the walls to sneak out.

Yang Yun had never struck a conversation with Mingyue, until that one night when he caught her sneaking out. Out of curiosity and worry about her safety, he had followed her quietly. But after ten minutes, she stopped at an alley and faced him.

"You seem familiar," she said as she stepped closer to him. "You're from my brother's squad. You're staying in our residences. I've seen you around," Mingyue said to him. "Why are you following me? Did my brother send you?"

Yang Yun blinked in confusion. He was so sure that Mingyue wouldn't find out that he was following her.

Mingyue chuckled at his expression. "I am after all a member of the Jiang family. I have learned a bit of martial art from my father and my brothers," she said, "Besides, you didn't try that hard to conceal yourself. Now tell me. Did my brother send you to follow me?"

"He did not." Yang Yun lowered his gaze.

"Then why are you following me?"

"I was curious," Yang Yun answered. "I saw you sneaking out every night and returned to the residence only when the sun comes out. The Old General knew that you've been sneaking around, but he told me not to stop you."

Jiang Mingyue stared at him for a while before she laughed. "You don't look like you're lying. What are you curious about?"

Yang Yun lowered his gaze. He was not sure how he should answer her question. He was not sure what or why he was curious about her. "Where are you going?"

Mingyue opened her mouth to answer, but stop. After some thought, she said, "If you're curious, you can tag along. But I have to warn you; don't try anything funny or else, my brothers will come after you."

With Mingyue permission, Yang Yun followed her around and watched her as she gave the poor a free consultation and medicine.

From that night, he would always accompany her out whenever he was around. Sometimes, he would act as her assistant. Once in a while, he would accompany Mingyue and Han Zhenting around Da Cheng to treat the underprivileged. According to Han Zhenting, only by traveling and seeing a lot of patients condition will they grow better as a physician.

Only after a year of getting to know each other better, Yang Yun found out that Mingyue was the one who snuck into the army camp, disguised herself as one of the soldiers and later on caught by General Jiang Xiao Xian.

Because she was born and raised in a military family, and her siblings all joined the army at some point, Jiang Mingyue wanted to do the same. Her family did not agree with her decision. When her eldest brother, Jiang Xiao Xian caught her and dragged her home, their grandfather took her under his care and took her to travel around Da Cheng.

It was then that Mingyue began to show interest in learning medicine.
