Mingyue peeked at the sky from under the tree, watching the light shine through the branches and leaves. She turned around when she noticed a presence. Her expression softened as she saw her brother, Jiang Xiao Tian walking towards her.
"Are you still thinking about what the old man had told us?" Xiao Tian asked.
Mingyue nodded. A frown appeared on her forehead as she was deep in her thought. She recalled the story that the old man had told them. The herbs caused his son to disappear, and his wife was in extreme grief as she had to witness their only son vanished before their eyes. Although he had the miraculous herbs in his hand, he could not heal his wife, or get his son back.
That old man said that the herb was cursed! Anyone who searched for it will have to face something terrible.
"You believe in old Li's words about his son?" Xiao Tian asked.
Jiang Mingyue stared at her brother for a while before she asked, "Second brother, do you think people could disappear into thin air just like that?"
Xiao Tian let out a small sigh and patted his sister on her soft hair. "I told you that the news about the herbs might not be a credible one. You can listen to it, but you should not believe it."
Mingyue nodded. The two were quiet for a period before Mingyue spoke again. "Hearing someone talks about it makes me feel hopeful that the herbs do exist. At least it's real."
Xiao Tian chuckled. "What? You don't believe in grandfather's words when he said that he had seen his master use that herb?"
"That's not what I mean," Mingyue sighed. "It has been so long since the last time grandfather heard and seen the herbs. Sometimes, I wonder if the story about this herb is nothing but a fairy tale."
Xiao Tian raised a brow. "And now?"
"It seemed that this tale has turned into a mystery, second brother." Her lips curled into a playful smile.
Jiang Xiao Tian laughed at her words. He raised his hand to pat his sister on her hair. Just as his hand was about to touch her hair, the girl disappeared, and his hand felt nothing but the air.
Xiao Tian turned around and frowned as he looked at a man holding his sister with one hand, and a crutch at the other side.
"Who are you? And what are you trying to do to Mingyue?"
Before Xiao Tian get his chance to ask, the boy had asked him first.
Xiao Tian frowned. He glanced at his sister. Something crossed his mind when he saw her dazed expression. Slowly, his lips curved into a smile and a soft laugh escaped him.
"What are you laughing at?"
Xiao Tian took a step forward. "You must be Yang Yun."
Yang Yun frowned as he continued to look at the unknown man with apparent hostility. His hand around Mingyue's waist subconsciously tightened when he noticed that the man walked slowly to them.
Seeing this, Xiao Tian halted. He turned to Mingyue and smiled. "Aren't you going to introduce me to him, Mingyue?"
