Mingyue opened her mouth and bit the hand on her mouth hard to retaliate. Only when her gaze met that familiar face did she released her mouth.
Her eyes widened in surprise.
Seconds later, her happiness was apparent on her face. "Yang Yun! You're back!" Instantly circled her arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug.
"I'm back." a smile curved on his lips as he tightened his arms around her waist.
She pulled away to looked around to see if there's anyone with him. She would be in trouble if anyone noticed them being this intimate in public when they were not married yet. "When did you get here?"
"This morning. The General is now having a meeting with His Majesty. The discussion will continue for hours. I thought this is the perfect chance for me to see you. At least he wouldn't be able to disturb us for a while." He gave her a lazy smile. "I miss you."
Jiang Mingyue smiled bashfully. She gasped when she recalled what she did just a few seconds ago.
She reached for his wrist and studied the bite mark on his hand. She looked up at him guiltily. "I'm sorry. I didn't know."
She frowned when she recalled what he had done to make her leave a bite mark on his hand. "This is all your fault. If you didn't scare me, I wouldn't have bitten into your hand."
"You're right. It was all my fault. I shouldn't scare you like that." His gaze softened when he saw the worry in her face. "It's alright. It wasn't painful."
She frowned at his remark. "How can you say it's not painful? It's deep enough to leave a scar!"
Yang Yun lifted his hand and studied the bite mark. "I don't mind the pain if this is your way to mark me as yours. Miss Jiang," he paused to give her a teasing smile. "I didn't know that you're this possessive."
She opened her mouth to retort but found herself speechless. Her ears turned red. In the end, she pulled Yang Yun's hand and led him to the herb garden not far away from the Royal Infirmary.
Mingyue took him under a shady tree and pulled out a few medicinal packs from her bag. She cleaned his hand and dabbed the medicine on his palm while he watched her do her job quietly.
A glint flashed through his eyes when he saw her attentiveness. Six months to go and then, she will be his. Then, he wouldn't have to sneak around and avoiding anyone to see her.
Because of his family situation in the past, he had always been aloof. He worked hard to be the best in the army, and he never thought that one day someone would move his heart.
Nonetheless, the moment he gets to know her, the moment he fell for her, he fell hard. He never thought that he was going to like the girl so much. His eyes turned gentle whenever he saw her. His heart would bloom to indescribable feeling.
