Perhaps the celestial fox was able to sense the aching emotions in the lady, but the poor thing actually began to lick Bai Yan’s hand as if to comfort her.
Not wanting to know what would happen if she’s slow now, the woman swiftly pulls out another bottle of healing tonic – a much higher grade of medicine – to pour onto the fox’s wound. Then as if worried that’s not enough, she brings out another pill to feed it.
Naturally the little thing didn’t reject the offering and ate it without a thought. Just that instead of wariness, the fox’s tail was wagging left and right like an animal that’s being petted.

“You…” gasping at her son’s reddish eye still being there, “didn’t you take the vial of blood I gave you? it must be fresh for it to be effective, otherwise it will lose its use.”
The boy didn’t give a direct answer, only twisting his head to one side to show that brilliant smile that he always does: “Mother, if one day I can’t be with you anymore…. Will you miss me?”
A shudder ran through the poor mother’s heart, pulling her mood to the bottom. “Don’t talk nonsense Xiachen! You will never leave me!”
