15 – Putting a Newbie to Death

The captain ran out of a tent. Although he had a few broken bones from Luo You’s kick last night, he was still an unyielding man of the wilderness. He was alive and kicking after fixing himself with a splint. He took out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and shouted: “How many people are there? Do they have any weapons?”

“There are six people! The leader is a tall man. They don’t have any weapons on them, but they are carrying bags, so the possibility of them being armed cannot be eliminated.” The sentinel reported loudly.

Six people, the leader a tall man, it was rather similar to Luo You’s description last night. However, for safety reasons, the captain still took Luo You to a lookout post on the earth wall.

Very quickly, Luo You recognized Arnold, Lin Geng, and company. The captain squinted his eyes and said: “It seems that someone is hurt.”

Luo You shifted his gaze to the man on Arnold’s back, then gave a low grunt and said: “Let them in.”

Under the captain’s directions, the earth wall’s gate was opened and Arnold and the others rushed inside. Once he passed through the gate, Arnold put the wound person on his back on the ground and started yelling at the top of his lungs: “Doctor! Is there a doctor?!”

The captain and Luo You ran over. Arnold was covered in mud and blood stains after a fight. This robust man, who redeemed the Giant bloodline, was so weary right now, that he was gasping for breath. It was clear that he had been in a bitter fight.

The captain and Luo You looked at the wounded person. His calf was broken, there was a wound with clear signs of tearing and biting. They both exchanged a look, and the captain asked in a husky voice: “Was he bitten by a Blood Wolf?”

“Yes!” Arnold desperately nodded his head.

“How long ago was he bitten?”

“We were attacked at 4 o’clock in the morning, about two hours ago.” Arnold said anxiously, “Ah, stop asking questions, can’t you tell that the he’s unconscious?! Hurry up, go call a doctor to save him!”

“Bang!” Without any warning, a deafening gunshot sounded. Suddenly, as if a watermelon, the head of the unconscious person burst, and red and white sprinkled everywhere. The body convulsed for a moment before turning still.

Arnold stared blankly at Luo You, his face sullied with the filth from the dead person’s burst head. The desert eagle the youngster held in his hand gave off smoke and the scalding muzzle was locked on the dead person. There was not an ounce of sympathy in the youngster’s eyes.

“What have you done?! What the hell have you done??!!” Arnold couldn’t have imagined that after carrying the person with the wounded leg for more than two hours, the wounded person wouldn’t die in a Blood Wolf’s maw or from excessive blood loss, but rather, would die to Luo You, die to a comrade’s bullet. Previously, he had promised the lad that he could be saved so long as they reached the survivor base. But now, all that went up in smoke due to Luo You’s desert eagle.

Facing the charge from the red-eyed Arnold, Luo You sent him to the ground with a footsweep. Immediately after, Luo You turned to leave, saying apathetically: “I put him out of his misery.”

Seeing that in his madness, Arnold still wanted to continue, the captain and several sentinels rushed over. With great effort from six people, the robust man, who had redeemed the Giant bloodline, was finally restrained. The captain said solemnly: “Blood Wolf saliva contains a very potent virus! Ordinary people infected with the virus will face certain death if they don’t get proper medical treatment within 1 hour! Moreover, after dying, they would still turn into Zombies! Do you want to see him turn into a soulless monster?!”

With a roar, Arnold flung the six people suppressing him away. The muscles all over his body bulged alike hills. The entire person became a size bigger. At this moment, the Giant bloodline’s brute force flared up. Then like a mammoth in a mad stampede, the man rushed towards Luo You from behind.

“Bang!” Following another loud gunshot, a desert eagle bullet brushed past Arnold’s face. The scalding heat left blood blisters behind on his face. The intense shock wave brought in the wake of the terrifying impact force assaulted Arnold’s mind and consciousness, causing his vision to go dark.

Not only were Lin Geng and his companions dumbfounded, but the captain and the other sentinels were also distracted. They didn’t expect Luo You to open fire so decisively. If the trajectory of the bullet were to be deviated by a bit, then Arnold’s head could have been burst open just like the head of the wounded person had been just now.

Luo You’s turned slightly sideways. His eyes under the shadow of the cloak emitted a faint red light and he said in a husky voice: “Rookie, what kind of place do you think the wilderness is? If you want to play house without anyone dying, then you’d better take a hike and return to the wall. I have no need for people dragging me down.”

It was unknown whether it was the injury caused by the desert eagle fired at a close range or Luo You’s words that made him see things clearly. Arnold stood absent-mindedly for a while. Suddenly, his eyes rolled back, and the iron-willed man slumped to the ground with a loud bang and lost consciousness. The blood from his wounds mixed together with yellow earth and dyed the ground scarlet.

The captain assigned a few sentinels to carry Arnold to the room where Luo You had stayed previously. Anyway, Luo You didn’t sleep in the bed. They put the wounded person on the bed so that he could have a good rest.

On the way, Luo You gave Arnold’s wounds a glance and shortly after, threw a carefully preserved drug at the captain.

The captain received the drug. Right after, he sucked in a mouthful of cold air: “If I’m not mistaken, isn’t this the Universal Antidote?!”

“Mhm.”

The captain threw Luo You a complicated look. The Universal Antidote could only be redeemed from the Cube. It could cure the majority of viruses in the world. It was not cheap. It required one C-rank reward point to be exchanged for. It was regarded as a treasure by the people of the wilderness.

The captain realized that he still didn’t quite know what to make of Luo You. In the previous moment, this fellow used force on Arnold, while in the next moment, he gave the other party such a rare drug. What was this fellow thinking?

The captain was about to ask him a question, when Luo You shut him up: “No more questions.”

The captain had assigned a person to look after Arnold. In any case, the most dangerous aspect about creatures like Blood Wolves was the virus. In order to control the spread of the virus, one only had one hour to get medical treatment, after that, one would have to get an antidote.

Luo You gave Arnold the precious antidote not out of pity or sympathy. He had no interest in toying with these academic concepts. It was purely because he needed Arnold to participate in the team battle.

As for the rest of the team, due to their fighting strength being too meager, Luo You didn’t care whether they lived or died. However, these people were lucky enough as Arnold had done a rather good job at protecting them. Only Arnold himself and the wounded person who had his brain blow out by Luo You had suffered injuries, while the rest came out scotfree.

However, the way the newbies looked at Luo You had clearly changed. They didn’t just look at him as if he was a monster, but rather, looked at him as if he was a cold-blooded demon or even a mutant released by the Cubes, as if he had no trace of humanity in him.

Lin Geng, who seemed to be a youth brimming with righteousness, had his face flushed from anger at this moment. Just as he wanted to run over and give Luo You a piece of his mind, he was pulled back by his companions. They clearly didn’t want him to aggravate this plague god.
