As Doll said that, he eyed Zhao Yao, trying to get his attention as he mouthed the words, “Don’t listen to her.”
Zhao Yao thought to himself, “Luckily they’re not asking for higher wages.” He smiled kindly at Kun Wu as he said in a gentle voice, “Why would I not trust you guys? We are one big family in Cat Wonderland. I regard every employee here as my family.”
“Ey,” Doll thought, “It’s starting. Zhao Yao’s hoodwinking her already, that guy’s true superpower…” He glanced at Kun Wu and thought, “Don’t ever believe his words, Doll.” After working in the Cat Wonderland for the past few days, Doll had seen enough of supercats falling into the hellhole of debt, working overtime, and working extremely hard at their jobs.
Kun Wu said to Zhao Yao, “Then why are we only allowed to stay in the dorm here. Why can’t we stay on the Cat Island?”
Zhao Yao replied, “So this is what you were thinking of Kun Wu?” He shook his head with disappointment. “Kun Wu, do you know why I let you work front-line at customer service right from the start when you came in?”
“No, why?”
Zhao Yao continued, “Kun Wu, do you know what I saw in your eyes the first time I laid eyes on you?”
Kun Wu asked curiously, “What?”
“Dreams. The first time I saw you, I knew you were a supercat that was willing to risk everything to chase your dreams.” Zhao Yao sighed. “I could sense the boundless potential in you.”
As he said that, Zhao Yao stood up and walked to the window. He narrowed his eyes slightly before he kicked at the wall harshly. The wall shook so hard that the supercat, Meat Bun, who was resting on top of the wall, dropped down as he shrieked in fright.
Meat Bun whipped out his phone and sent a message, “Bad news, Brother Airplane. I got found out eavesdropping on Zhao Yao and Kun Wu.”
After shocking away Meat Bun, Zhao Yao continued nonchalantly, “Kun Wu, I saw boundless potential in you. The only thing you lacked was an opportunity to shine and I can give you that platform to shine. Cat Wonderland allows you to develop yourself, train your ability, and make your dreams come true step by step. This is a chance for you to realize the true value of your supercat life.”
Kun Wu was astonished. “Zhao Yao actually thinks so highly of me?”
By the side, Doll watched Kun Wu’s expression nervously. However, he could not openly show his nervousness. Afterall, this feline robot was merely a robotic clone he controlled from afar and not his own, so he was totally unable to communicate telepathically with Kun Wu to remind her to be cautious.
Zhao Yao picked up Kun Wu and raised her above his head. He stared into her eyes and said, “That’s why I assigned a front-line job to you the moment you came in to work. I wanted to raise you through the ranks so that you would eventually dominate and lead Cat Wonderland and understand how the whole Cat Wonderland operates.”
“Eh? Is that really the case?” Kun Wu was dazed for a moment. “Zhao Yao actually had such real intentions behind his arrangement?”
Doll thought for a bit as well, “He made it sound so convincing.”
Zhao Yao lowered Kun Wu into his arms, cuddling her as he said, “Kun Wu, I know that living on the Cat Island is more comfortable than living in Cat Wonderland but is enjoying luxury at a young age what you really need?
Don’t keep thinking of seeking gain when you’re young. Think about what you can contribute first. At your age, gaining experience is much more invaluable compared to earning some quick money. Because once your ability upgrades and your experience increases, money will naturally come to your hands.”

Kun Wu gritted her teeth. She really wanted to say that she would rather stay in the Cat Wonderland but at the thought of Project X, as well as the feeling in her body, she insisted, “Sorry, I… I still want to stay on Cat Island.”
As she said that, Kun Wu lowered her head, not daring to look Zhao Yao in the eye. She felt that she disappointed him.
Zhao Yao smoothed his shirt at the chest area. Sheriff, hidden beneath his clothes, told him telepathically, “Kun Wu still wants to go and see Project X. However, she doesn’t seem to know why she wants to either.”
Zhao Yao nodded and said to Kun Wu, “Since you want to go to the Cat Island so badly, you can, it’s not impossible. As long as you hit the top sales record for this month, I will trust that you will be able to withstand the temptations on the Cat Island and let you stay there.”
Kun Wu was elated. “Really?”

After sending off Kun Wu and Doll, Zhao Yao recalled, “Project X and Kun Wu’s appearance do resemble each other in many ways. However, their abilities are worlds apart. Is that a coincidence? Or do they share a special relationship?”

Zhao Yao felt that there was some sort of hidden connection amongst all these things. However, a part of the puzzle was still missing. This made it difficult to connect the leads to form a coherent picture.
