The dark-skinned man did not come alone. His traveling companions came out of the cafe and talked to Misty for about an hour nonstop.

"You stay away from Misty. Agreed?" Ash said.

"If that is what she wants then sure," Gray said bored with the conversation already. Turning to Misty he asked her straight up. "Do you wish to break our contact? The ball is in your court on this."

"I.. I .. dont really know," Misty said unsure of herself. Gray didnt treat her like the old her that she couldn't remember. Her sisters and friends did and that hurt something terrible.

"See you have her confused. Just let her come with us and get her back home."

"No! I dont want to go back home. I want to stay on my journey and there is nothing you can do about it!" Misty said angrily. Ice particles started to form around the table.

"Misty I.." Ash started to say before Serena stopped him.

"Let it go, Ash."

"Ok well, I am heading on to the next town you all have fun figuring whatever the hell this is about," Gray said with his hands waving at them. Sabrina, Jacob, and Jun followed suit.

Ash became angry at Gray trying to leave. "Wait!" Seeing Gray continue to leave he became rash immediately as usual. "I challenge you to an Elite Battle!" Seeing Gray still walking away he screamed at him. "Are you that much of a coward? Fight me and that will be the end of it."

"Or I can continue on my way not caring at all."

"Prove that you are capable of looking after her!" Ash yelled again. Misty trembled at his response. A small part of her wanted Gray to take the challenge. She felt so much pain seeing Ash with Serena. But hearing him say those words gave her a funny feeling in her heart.

"She is a grown woman capable of taking care of herself. She has told me before herself." Gray got to the edge of the cafe. Before Misty said something.

"Gray accept the challenge. It is a great chance of training for you."

"Meh, I will find someone else. This is some craziness right here." He immediately stopped when a bubble appeared.

(Defeat Ash Ketchum: Rewards Loyalty increase for Sabrina, Jacob, Misty, Pokemon Elite League, and personal Pokemon.)

(Additional Reward: Recognition of Mewtwo.)

"Arghhh crap." He turned and looked at Sabrina and Jacob. "What do you two think?"

"Fight him," Jacob said slightly angry.

"It is worth the time and effort we already put in coming here," Sabrina said with a strange glint in her eye.

"What about you June?"

"Not worth it. You will win. Plus I can tell you dont like him. That will cause you to fight even harder. You will hurt him causing Misty to be hurt." June shook her head after her analysis. "Nope not worth it. I think we should spend some more time exploring your Pokesoul more anyway. In the physical sense."

"Hmm, that sounds like a plan to me," Gray said smiling.

Jacob grabbed his shoulder. "Beat him up good and I will give you something useful for your time." He then pulled out a bracelet. "It will help your Pokemon mature. Better used with a medium. Which you have already."

"Fine already." He then looked to Ash and pointed to the field nearby. "Sorry about this June. Apparently, bribery works great on me." Gray said lightly laughing.

"Hmm, bribery eh." She walked over and leaned into his ear. Channeling her aura she whispered, "beat him and I will give you a really great reward. One that the others cant be allowed to see." She said seductively.

"That definitely works for me." Gray moved off into the field and waited for Ash.

"So what kind of battle do you think we should have?"

"You are the challenger so decide already," Gray said not really caring. His mind was elsewhere. 'Why is Mewtwo paying attention to him?'

"Fine then let's go Blastoise!" Throwing out the Pokeball a giant turtle with cannons on its back appeared. The most striking thing was the shades on its face. Ash walked up to it and stroked its back. "Alright, buddy, time for a battle. PokeFusion."

After the light disappeared all that remained was a turtle man hybrid. His back slight haunched over with a shaken shell. Two flaps opened pulling in the air then closed. On his wrist, a cannon was placed on each one of them. With a thump, they pointed at the ground.

'Two heavy to move I take it' Gray thought to himself. 'I cant use Pyron with the water disadvantage as well as the electricity. Growlithe is out as well considering that too. Scyther is still resting so no. Empress is practicing her medium state inside of me right now so thats a no. I could use Midnight but he is mostly defensive base so thats another no.' Shrugging his shoulders Gray came to a conclusion. "I need to get more Pokemon. Heh but no matter, PokeSoul!"

Gray turned into his hybrid form which surprised him. He was trying just for one version. "Is it because my focus is off." Clenching his hand he saw little wisps of purple and pink energy. 'The medium power is flowing through me. Thanks, Empress.'

Brock walked over and raised his hand. "On my signal start. The battle is over when a trainer can no longer continue. Begin!"

Gray stretched his hand out and fired a Dark Pulse immediately. The dark ring of energy left a pink ghost trail in the air. Seeing it coming to Ash stood there and waited. Right before contact, he yelled, "Aqua Defense!" A barrier of water erupted from the ground where his cannons rested.

"Sploosh," the dark rings burst right through. Hitting against the strong defensive front of Ash/Blastoise it did no damage. His defense stopped any real power from getting through.

As soon as the water disappeared completely, Ash raised his cannons up. "Water Gun!" Yelling excitedly he fired a torrent of water towards Gray.

Serena stood to the side smiling. To her seeing her husband battling excitedly always made her smile.

When the first blast came, Gray stepped inward when the second came he did the same thing. Ash basically just fired straight out not moving his arms or his posture in a different pattern. Dodging both blasts easily Gray hovered in the air. Sending two gust of wind out with his wings he gained some cover for a few seconds.

"Argh!" He used Calm Mind. The grunting was for him flexing his muscle as he wanted his opponent to think something else, getting a power boost. As soon as the dust cleared he fired another blast of wind. This time adding a little physic power to it.

Ash stared at him soon as he reappeared. 'Those little blast of wind are not doing much to me. What could he be thinking?' Looking around Ash saw the aura energy gathering. 'Hmm building of for a move. Guess I should put on the pressure then to stop it. Ready Pikachu?'

'Always ready!' Pikachu thought back inside of Ash.

"Rasing a finger up high, Ash called down the power of electricity. "Thunder!" Out of nowhere clouds appeared in the sky and a bright light arced out and struck Gray.

"Uggh," he muffled out. Sliding to the ground he could barely breathe. "Damn it. This level gap does not help me." Shaking the jittering away, Gray stood up and reused Calm Mind. "Raggh!" Dashing forward on the ground he then used Double Team. The other version of him flanked Ash. One flew up above with the sun to its back.

"This won't work on me." Ash turned to the side and fired a shot at a Doppelganger. Before it even hit he turned to fire at the other one. "Heh easy as pie!" Seeing the one in front he fired both shots at that one. "Looks like you lose! Double Water Gun." Shouting gleefully he thought the battle was already over.

"Ash! Its not over!" Yelled Misty.

Turning around Ash finally saw the Doppelgangers. They were still there. He fired another blast of water at them. His eyes went wide when on the impact the doppelgangers would pull itself back togethor not dispersing from the one hit.

"Huh, what a weird move." Smirking he swallowed a gulp of air. Next, he started to spin rapidly. Once enough speed was made he hovered off the ground and rammed into each of the copies. Once all of them was gone he looked around. "Where did you go? Can you detect him Pikachu?"

'He is ... underground.' Pikachu responded unsure of himself. Small currents of electricity went outside Ash/Blastoise body.

"Hiding underground won't work." Raising his foot high up he brought it down hard. "Time for a little Earthquake!"

"Crrk, the ground literally cracked open. Outside the nearest crevice was Gray.

"Aqua Jet," So excited to finish the battle Ash launched himself right at his opponent. Covered in the fast-moving water he zipped across the battlefield out of control. "Woah, someone stop this crazy thing."

As if to answer his call someone did. Or something did for that matter. A rock the size of a bus came down.

"Woah now thats awesome." Reeling back Ash opened his mouth taking in a deep breath. With the rock, closer than ever, he waited to it was in range for a strong physical move. He braced himself and used "Skull Bash." When contact was made, his head went through it like it was jello.

The "rock" strained and broke apart. The physic and aura energy holding it togethor broke apart instantly. Covered in muddy water Ash took the glasses off to see. "Pft, that was weird."

"Ash look out! Misty and Serena yelled togethor. They turned to look at each other the moment after. A pain smiled left Misty's face as she remembered something unpleasant. She turned back to the battle. Serena just smiled and did the same.

"Fwoosh" Gray teleported right in front of Ash with his hand outstretched. A green-yellow glow adorned his body. As if he was taking in nature itself. He said one word coldly. "Solar-Beam."

"Boom," the beam pushed Ash off the ground sending him back at least 10-feet. Looking a little worse for wear but not defeated Ash used Aqua Jet again. He rammed into Gray at breakneck speed. Upon contact, he realized it was a fake. Turning around he saw some other Gray's falling from the sky with the same move ready. "So your plan is to hit me with a bunch of low powered Solar Beams? That won't work on me." Taking a deep breath Ash was a little to slow this time.

Each of the doppelgangers teleported closer and fired the weak Solar-Beams. "Boom, boom, boom, boom." When the dust cleared Ash fusion was damaged so much that the flaps on the back no longer worked. His wrist cannons didnt function either by the looks of it. "Rain Dance!" Glowing with a blue energy the clouds became thicker as rain fell immediately afterward. "Aqua Ring!" The freshwater droplets helped him recover even more so. Ash squinted as he finally saw something up above. A silhouette of someone.

"You have been fighting from up in the air the entire time?" Shaking his head Ash was only a little impressed now. "Well let's finish this, shall we? I promised Serena we will catch the art exhibit." Jumping up Ash went into an Aqua Jet once again. The weirdest thing happened while he sailed in the air all the freshwater gathered around him causing the jet to gain more power.

Serena looked to June. " Thought you said Gray was going to win? Your calm unlike the others. Why is that?"

"Easy really. Cause I am right." June said dismissing the girl for some reason.

" Care to explain?" Brock said never looking away from up high.

"Not really. Especially when some of you keep giving battle advice. This is an Elite Battle no outside interference except for natural elements. There have been several instances of you all speaking giving Ash a heads up." June's eyes looked dangerously at Misty then at Brock. "Misty I can forgive sorta. She is new at this. But you, I hope you have tallied down the offense for records?"

"I have," Brock said unsure of himself a little. He had forgotten outside conversations were fine but giving pointers and heads up were marks against the fighters.

"Right.," June said not believing him. "As for your questions. Gray has not been backed into a corner yet. He is just trying things out. Which he kind of has to do considering the level difference between opponents."

Up above, the clouds broke away from a massive noise. Gray was plummeting to the ground with his wings ripped. His speed then accelerated as he fired at Ash who came charging down. "Solar-Beam!" Ash was no longer using Aqua Jet. Just gravity.

"Thump!" Gray hit the ground before his attack connected. Before he could stand Ash crashed into him with his full weight.

"Kuff!" In excruciating pain, Gray cough up some blood. Ash jumped off him and climbed out fhe crater.

"Whew, that was intense," Ash said to Brock. Seeing his friends expression he turned around. Out of the crater, Gray flew up using physic energy. His form was almost gone. Only thing left was the clawed hands, carapace mask, and the tail. "Oh, you look done. Dont you think you should give up?"

"I think you should?" June said towards them.

"See even she agrees. You just don't have what it takes to.." Ash was saying.

"I meant you," June said calmly.

Gray teleported right in front of Ash and swiped with his claws covered in physic energy. "Crack," the sound of bones breaking was audible. Ash's head reeled to the side. He turned back to get hit in the face once again.

"Take this!" Ash yelled. His fist took on a white glow. "Mega Punch!" Expecting Gray to move he was surprised to see the man didnt. Gray took the blow full on and struck out with his claws again. This time at Ash's head, particularly the eyes.

"Ash dodge it now!" Misty yelled before Serena knew what was going on.

On instinct, Ash moved back. The dark swipe passed right by his eyes causing him to be paralyzed in fear. Gray didnt miss the opportunity at all. He released his pressure suppressing Ash and causing his focus to wain. Some of Ash's transformation started to go away at a rapid pace.

"Ash focus!" Yelled Serena. Hearing her cheer broke him free. But it was too late. Ash managed to throw another punch but it was met with something.

"Calm Mind! Double Revenge!" Gray yelled. His clawed hand caught the Mega Punch in its tracks. His elbow broke from the power. A dark energy washed over him making his next attack stronger. Twisting with his broken elbow, Gray coughed up some blood and felt a bone push out somewhere.

The risk was worth it. He felt Ash/Blastoise arm-twist in the socket. With his other arm, he swiped at Ash's face again.

"Pikachu do it!" Ash said with a tinge of fear. A bolt of lightning came down hitting Gray.

" Aaarrrggggh!" Gray screamed as it encompassed him. He had no choice but to let go.

Ash squatted and fired the cannon on his back. "Hydro Cannon!" With Gray still paralyzed he was a sitting duck.

The high powered water tore through him sending him across the field. "Boom," His body crashed into a tree. With the cannon still going he was pushed further causing it to snap. "Crrk," the tree collapsed on him.

Seeing his opponent buried Ash sighed in relief. "That was close." He took a minute to catch his breath. "Whew, Pikachu Blastoise we did it. But that was hard to do. Hey, Brock you gonna call it or what?" Getting a bad feeling Ash looked to the tree collapse.

Gray walked out slowly. He let his tail drop as he converted the energy to use for his next move. "Calm Mind, Roost." As his bones snapped in place his speed started to pick up. Gray had used Quick Attack and arrived in front of Ash in mere moments.

Catching him off guard, Ash took a claw to the shoulder before he was able to react. Taking the momentum Ash fell back and went into a Rapid Spin. Right as he went for Gray's chest he was stooped by the clawed hands.

"Chhink, chink," A few sparks flew off from the running of the shell and metal of the claws. After a minute Gray's arms buckled and he took the attack in the chest.

Falling to his knees Gray had trouble standing. Ash stood above him. "I think I won this one. You are a little too inexperienced."

"Pft, have done way more battling than you kid." Gray laughed and reached up and grabbed Ash by the throat! "Such a fool still boy!"

"What..what the?!" Ash was too confident and was to use to winning with his other Pokemon. This was only his third Elite Battle. He hadn't switched over to its more brutal way of fighting. Gray had put all his aura and pressure in one location. Directly on Ash.

Right as the energy started to gather someone yelled. "He yields!" Said a tearful Serena. She thought Gray would kill Ash.

Gray ignored her as his grip tightened. Brock didn't say the fight was over and neither did Ash. So it was not over, simple as that.

"June will Gray actually hurt Ash?" Asked Serena.

"Of course. It is a battle and until a winner is decided he will keep going. That is his personality as far as my analysis has shown. As far as killing him.. most likely not. This is an official battle and not a fight in the wild." June's eyes travelled to Sabrina who never looked away from the entire fight. "You have known him longer what do you think?"

"I think we should stop the match," Jacob answered first.

"If you want to keep traveling with him, I dont think you should interfere," Sabrina said as she clutched her chest. "He will not like that. Especially since we wanted him to fight."

Everything was decided for them though.

Ash came down with a Headbutt that met a knee. Next, everyone heard a thumping sound. Ash fell back with his eyes rolling around in the socket.

"Gray is the winner!" Yelled Brock. Misty and Serena ran to the battle to check on Ash.

A crowd of people cheered excitedly. For most of them, this was the first Elite battle they had seen in person.

Sabrina pulled Gray over using her telekinesis.

"Roost!" Gray managed to say before she hugged him and pumped him with physic energy. "Woah!! Slow down." Sabrina ignored him. He then felt another person touch him and then someone else. June channeled her aura onto his arm. Jacob channeled his onto his back. His ice aura helping alleviate the pain a little.

"Shut up!" Sabrina managed to snarl. "Just focus on healing. We need to to buy the Tm Recover soon. Roost is not gonna cut it for the way you fight." Staring at him intently she waited for him to say something.

"Thanks. Well, all of you." Gray said genuinely smiling. In 10 minutes he was stable. "Time to go already. So let's skedaddle."

"We are going to a hospital." Said June with finality in her voice.

"Huh, I am fine," Gray said checking his status.

"That may be... but it would make us all feel better if you do." June's eyes softened when she saw Gray nod. 'Glad he didnt resist. I swear he is like a bucking Tauros doing whatever he wants.' As if realizing something she asked Gray immediately. "If you didnt really want to go. you wouldn't would you?"

"Nope. I know my body best. I dont see a reason to do something like that if I dont want to. But..." Gray looked at the three especially Sabrina who kept pumping energy into him. "We are still traveling togethor so I guess it won't hurt." Gray wasnt trying to be difficult. His status showed he was fine. Tired and hungry but had no injuries.

"Right let's go then," Jacob said understanding. "Sabrina you need to let his arm go. If you keep it up Gray is most likely gonna attack you."

"There is no way..he..would.." Sabrina started to say before she saw the look in Gray's eyes. "Are you serious?!"

"I beautiful woman is touching my arm sending some real good energy into me, not paying attention that her feelings are pumping into me as well," Gray said smirking. "Also I just had a fight. My blood is flowing full blast, desires are going wild and I am hungry. All I had for lunch was a piece of pound cake."

"You should have ordered something bigger," Sabrina said embarrassed. She pulled away and looked at June who was stifling a laugh.

"We were not supposed to be here that long. I planned on having a good linner to make up for it." She there weird face he figured out what they didnt understand. "You know linner. After lunch but before dinner."

"That was just a snack," Jacob said.

"Not going argue this. So hospital or no?" Gray walked to pick up his bag and looked at them.

"Hospital," All three of them said.

"Ok." Gray turned and waved at Brock and started to walk away.

"What about Misty?" Sabrina asked.

"What about Misty?" Gray kept looking forward. "She looks like she is right where she wants to be."

A bubble appeared to the side.
