Lily stared without blinking at Phoenix from the moment she opened the box.
Looking at her stoic expression, she tried to catch a reaction that could dispel the fog about this mysterious person who's ,without doubt, the friend her grandmother announced will visit her. She drifted deep in her thoughts; a myriad of questions assaulted her, each thickening the fog instead of dispelling it. Her attempt to analyze Phoenix's expression was to no avail; her target on the other hand was reading her thoughts with ease.
Without lifting her head from the box, Phoenix said: "I'll ask you a simple question, your answer will eventually answer your queries, but the truth will be painful to you, do you want to know it?"
Lily came back to her senses, and went silent for a moment thinking hard about what should she do. It took her less than a minute to resolve her will saying: "ask away!"
Phoenix smiled lightly clearly predicting this outcome; she closed the box before putting it aside.
"How old are you?" Phoenix asked with seriousness
Her question was something that Lily didn't expect. Albeit being a simple question, Lily would have thought it was a joke if not for the serious expression on Phoenix's face. So without second thought she blurted: "32."
Right at that moment everything became clear in her mind, Phoenix noticed that she understood so she clarified: "As you figured it out, Grace who is a few centuries old couldn't have such a young granddaughter, simply because she didn't have children!"
The revelation dealt a huge blow to Lily; the image of the gentle and caring woman came to her mind and she felt conflicted. Hearing that she hadn't offspring while keeping this fact from her wasn't something she could digest; then again the love and care she gave her all those years weren't fake...
"Why would she hide such a thing from me?" Lily yelled as her mental state crumbled, she cried her grievance away for a long time.
Phoenix stayed silent as she watched Lily crying. It was not until she calmed down that she spoke: "Little grace didn't say anything because she knew she couldn't explain anything, so she chose to hide the truth!" Phoenix said with sadness: "It is because of me; Grace could have survived if I had made it in time!" Lily wrinkled her brows in confusion, she thought hard; 'what could delay a powerful being like Phoenix'.
"I sensed that little Grace sent me a signal from here, but something unexpected happened. The signal is something that she couldn't handle, as it drains life force I think that's how she fell sick. Knowing her, with her willpower resisting the impact from sending the signal, I am not surprised that she stayed alive for two years. I frantically made my way here through the universe passageway, but what I didn't expected was to be hit by a spatial storm right after entering! That resulted in me drifting in the void for a while; the small amount of time I spent there, seven years went here on Earth!"
Phoenix walked in front of Lily, she stretched and put her forefinger and middle finger on the latter's forehead. A white light enveloped the whole room. Lily felt something warm coursing through her body, it made her feel so comfortable...
The process took about a minute before the light gradually vanished; Phoenix eyes widened as her scan results; Lily felt a little expectant when she noticed the joy hidden in Phoenix shocked face.
'I finally understand what made little grace come out from her hide and contact me using such a risky method. She must have planned all this; she even foresaw that something might happen to me, so that she will not miss the best time to start training!' Phoenix exclaimed in her mind, once again impressed by her friend's judgement.
She looked at Lily and said the answers she awaited for a while now: "Lily, the reason I couldn't be on time here is because of my haste. Once again I'm very sorry I didn't show up in time, or else little Grace would still be here with us. As for what she was seeking, and told you she found it; It's not something but someone... and that person is you Lily!"
"Me?"asked Lily in disbelief, it submerged her mind so much that it went blank. Phoenix went on her explanation: "Yes, let me tell you your origins; but before that do you recall my tattoo, how many dots were in the middle of the flower?"
Lily thought real quick and said: "Ten if I recall correctly."
Phoenix nodded: " You're right, and for its meaning I'll come to it in a moment. In the multitude of worlds in the universe, are ten divisions; namely: East region, West region, South region, North region, Central region, Third Celestia, Second Celestia, First Celestia, the Abyss and the Great void; I've mentioned them in order starting from the weakest. Each of them has it's own guardian; the strongest being in that region, easily recognized by two features; One is their dual hair color and two a black lotus imprint on their back. they aren't chosen people but creation from the universe itself, and they are called in accordance to their region; also to further identify them the dots in the middle of the flower represent which world they are guarding one being the weakest and ten the strongest. As for their strength It double with each additional dot."
Lily understood almost everything from Phoenix's narration except one thing, so she asked: "I get that you're the strongest based on the fact that you have ten dot of the guardians but what is my position in all this?"
Phoenix got excited hearing Lily's question, she looked like she was for it, she answered gleefully: "on top of the ten regions, there is what is called the Firmament domain! this legendary land can only accommodate one person. This mythical being disappeared for a very long time, way before me. I was lucky to come across a vestige In my journey, it said that this mythical being reincarnated in a very distant future, into a period unknown from everyone. but It also said that she has powers that could annihilate the universe itself...
Lily exclaimed: "She?!" cutting phoenix speech,not bothered by it she waved her hand summoning a mirror and put it in front of Lily while she said: and that when exposed to cosmic energy, her hair will change into silver and purple; and that a black lotus without dots will appear on her forehead instead of her back..." Lily current appearance matched the description Phoenix just said; finally she stated with awe and reverence: "... This mythical being is none other than you Lily!"
