If Lu Meili had just admitted the crime and accepted the lifetime imprisonment, it would have been easier for Long Kael to pull some strings to set her free eventually when at the time the citizens have forgotten about the incident.

At this moment, the incident was made public and Long Kael could not use the grey areas of the law to show special treatment even if Long Cheng begged.

What if the elders decided to kill Long Cheng's mate and not give her a chance all along? For hit, it was not impossible, as elders were really not so keen to accept an outsider as any royalty's mate.

They all knew that since Lu Meili was an outsider, there would be no one willing to be defending her aside from Long Cheng himself. This was also not acceptable as it would be considered bias.

"Yes, Your Majesty." Han Wei answered not giving any hint that he was not rushing or feeling the urge to stay further.

Long Kael looked at elder Han Wei. 'Did he say something that made her decision to refuse the offer?' The idea could be possible as Han Wei's daughter was known to be chasing after Long Cheng since way back.

With that in mind, Long Kael decided to see Lu Meili personally and talk to her about what would happen on the trial.

"When will it be?" He could have decided when the public trial would be, however, him stepping his foot in it would cause suspicion. It was also the elders who were very strict with the rules and it was also their main job to make sure that they were followed. 'Let's see if I could delay this…'

"It will happen as soon as the moon is up, Your Majesty. That could be tomorrow or a couple of hours from now. We will do all the necessary preparations." Han Wei answered again. It was also a good idea to solve the issue as soon as possible. The sooner the trial time was set, the sooner he could leave and work on his plan.

"Bring her full background report to my office." Long Kael demanded to no one in particular. The necessary preparations did not only include the prisoner being set on a trial, it was also made sure that all rules and regulations during the hearing would be followed.

"Your Majesty, we still have not received the report from General Wang…" One of the royal secretaries replied.

After hearing that Long Kael glared at the elders, "Are you planning to do a public hearing without reading the reports at least?" He asked almost accusingly.

One of the elders was frustrated by the question and that was clearly seen on his face. "Your Majesty! These were our rules and regulations. Only dragon shifters has business with it.  What does this have to do-" The rest of his words were cut off when Long Kael growled.

"Shut up! What about the rules and regulations under the Galactic Treaty? Are you saying we would ignore that because the crime was committed here?" Long Kael asked demandingly.

He was so displeased with what he was hearing. Yes, the beings from the Dragon country were not used to follow other rules than their own. That was also the case for other countries in the Shou planet.

However, that was still not a justifiable reason to act irrationally. They should at least know what they were up against and the implications of any action that was done without regard to international and space connections.

What if they offended someone that they did not have any power against?

What if that resulted in a war that they could not handle?

Aside from considering these possibilities, Long Kael also remembered Lu Meili fixing the seal of the Thunder Forest without too much effort.

Lu Meili was doing it after all the hassle of being chased by most of the police and royal guards of the country which she managed to escape from. With that type of ability, there was no way she was not affiliated with a powerful organization. Anyone would be willing to buy her services as a mage.

With that in mind, Long Kael had a strong urge to see her as soon as possible and ask her other things as well aside from her background. He also wanted to know her connection with his mate. If they knew each other perhaps she knew why his mate was cursed.

"Your Majesty, are you saying we should delay the trial just because of this? Aren't our witnesses enough as proof that she needs to be punished based on law? Is it not enough to seek justice for one of our loyal soldiers and the family he had left behind?" Han Wei questioned suddenly that cut of Long Kael's line of thought.

Han Wei was clearly displeased. It was already bad that representatives from the Shenxi Galactic Cruise Corp were hearing their discussion.

If they were discussing the issue in a more private setting, he would have sided with Long Kael instead. But the way Long Kael was questioning them felt like he was trying to purposely shame them in front of the outsiders.

Han Wei had a feeling that it was intentional as the elders and the guards had been chased out of the room earlier, while the representative of the Shenxi Galactic Cruise Corp was still in the throne room watching them bickering with the king.

"Was it not enough?" Long Kael eyes narrowed. "Or are you blinded by something else Elder Han?" He asked accusingly.

Great disappointment. It was actually what he really felt at that moment. He was even shaking his head when he walked towards his throne chair.

Long Kael unhappily picked up the gift from Wu Jiao and opened it again. He was deliberating if it was best to let them by leaving alone to make his mate wear the bracelet soon.

If he did that, he might as well step down from the throne.

After a heavy sigh, Long Kael shifted his gaze towards his elders, specifically longer at Elder Han Wei.

He was also not hiding it with the way he looked at the Dragon country's elders who were supposed to act based on the greater good, compared to their own personal ideals which Long Kael was still trying to investigate.

Han Wei suddenly kneeled respectfully on the floor, before yelling in conviction, "Your Majesty! We all have always been loyal to the throne! Please, hear our concern!" He was first before the others followed as if to make the king feel guilty.

"All of you! Stand up!" Long Kael commanded that did not leave any chance of argument for all of them.

When the elders  stood up, they bowed their heads to make sure no one would see the anger on their faces.
