The Chairman of Cinopec group took the leather-bound folder contain the proposals from WEONA, a wireless internet service provider and JCom a gaming company.
"Sir, is there anything you would like me to do before I leave?"
Ou Yitong was dressed in the usual black skirt suit required by all the female employees of Cinopec group with her name tag across her chest, the petite woman waited on her boss for further instructions.
"That would be all, Secretary Ou."
The woman gave a stiff bow to the company's chairman, as she turned to make her exit from the office.
Duan Chengyu began looking at the folders on his desk, trying to decide whether or not to renew the contract with the wireless company, since they weren't their profit margin hadn't been all that good for some time now. After debating on it for a while, the Cinopec Group chairman decided to let WEONA go, tossing the folder to the mesh waste basket by his desk. Next was JCom a rising gaming company, going through the core business plan on what they were proposing to achieve if Cinopec Group were to partner with them.
"Hmm, not bad at all. Let me run this through with the legal department."
Picking up the phone on his desk, Duan Chengyu dialed the straight line of the legal department's Director, a former judge. The phone was picked up by the third ring.
"Good morning Chairman Duan."
"Good morning Director Lee, I have a proposal in my hand from JCom, before I send it over to you, I want to know what you think about keeping them on a long term contract of six years with the possibility of renewal. That's the low end of a contract of that type, their ideas are quite innovative, and I believe we could work with them for a long time, but what do you think?"
"Chairman Duan, I know that when it comes to administrative decisions you still have the final say, but this is a company we have never worked with before, why not go with a short term contract of say, a year or two and see how well they do with us."
Duan Chengyu listened to the older man on the other line, his mind wasn't in agreement with the decision, but he had to give in to the legal advice from the other man.
"Thank you, Director Lee. I will have Secretary Ou bring it to your office."
"Alright Chairman Duan."
The two ended the conversation on a pleasant note, while Duan Chengyu's mind wandered to the helper at his home.
"I wonder what Miss Liu would be doing right now."
The Chairman of Cinopec Group, did not tell Liu Rachael that he already got her number from the human resource department. Pulling out his cellphone from the side pocket of his pants, Duan Chengyu scrolled through the screen of his phone to dial the number of Li Rachael.
"Hello? Who am I speaking with?"
"Take a guess."
The deep provocative masculine voice that came from the phone, made Liu Rachael almost drop the phone in her hand. Feeling an irresistible urge to slap her hands over her ears to block out his voice.
"When did he get my number?!"
The words left her mouth, before she could think twice.
