Kai Xin grabbed onto the assailant's arm and position herself.
Just as she was about to throw the assailant over her shoulder, she heard him hissing, "It's me! Ghost!"
When he released her, she turned and saw a red-faced Ghost with sweat dripping from his forehead. Angered, she punched him in the stomach as hard as she could.
Bending over the pain, he groaned softly, "I probably deserved that..."
He heard that someone was walking towards the door and was about to open it. Grabbing Kai Xin's hand, he hid them away in a corner right before the door was opened.
"Odd..." murmured Kai An as he glanced around the corridor, "I could have swore that I heard something."
An Qi Yan's voice could be heard from inside, "If there's no one, then quickly go back to your guest. Dinner will be served shortly."
Scratching his head, Kai An went back into the house.
When he heard the door clicked, Ghost released the breath he was holding.
Glaring at him, Kai Xin asked impatiently, "What are you doing here?"
Glaring back at her, he snapped, "You didn't answer your phone!"
"It was low on battery so I turned it off. What?"
Ghost sighed. He closed his eyes for a second to keep his temper in check.
When he opened them, he looked at her ruefully while rubbing his stomach, "I'm sorry. I was busy with my own stuff that I forgot to tell you."
Curtly, she asked, "What?"
"Ye Tian is back."
Wide eyed, Kai Xin was shocked yet relieved to hear that. Ghost's news meant that she was not losing her mind. He came back and he was back to his old habits of haunting her.
"When?" asked Kai Xin as she led him to the stairs so that they can talk properly.
"The same day as Shangguan Xing. He had been staying alone at one of his own houses instead of the family mansion where the servants are. We only found out when he met with Luo Han."
That left one more person who was out of the equation. Kai Xin glanced at Ghost and asked about Luo Yin.
"Still away. Luo Han had placed an order for him to be brought back so I expect that he would be back soon."
Kai Xin thought about his words. It was what they had expected and prepared for.
The fall of an old and established family like the Shangguan Family was bound to have a domino effect.
The Ye and Luo would be very careful from now on, especially since the election is coming up. If the news of their children misdeeds were exposed now, it would destroy all of their political dreams.
Kai Xin glanced at Ghost who was still rubbing his sore stomach. Sighing, she lifted his shirt to check on the injury she inflicted on him.
She felt bad when she saw the large bruise that was starting to form.
"It's going to hurt for a while."
He winced when she rubbed on the area to disperse the bruise, "You are getting stronger."
"I have been training," said Kai Xin. As she released his shirt, she asked, "So why are you here today? You rarely make an appearance outside AVENGE."
