Under one of the heaviest rain the country had seen in the decade, a badly injured little girl trembled as she knelt down in front of her father.

Her father had came home earlier than what she anticipated. Drunk, he went on an angry tirade about the rain. When he noticed the mess inside the house, he got mad and took out his anger on her.

She was used to it so she did not make any noise as he threw her around like a ragdoll.

However, her friend came out of nowhere and attacked her father from behind.

"Come! You big bully! Why don't you pick on someone stronger!!!" yelled her friend.

She watched as her father easily caught her friend and slapped her.

He dragged her friend to the small river that separated their house from the main road and as he held her over the bridge, he threatened to throw her in.

The heavy rain caused the water in the river to rise and even if one was an adult, it would be dangerous if one were to fall into the river!

When she saw her friend fought and clawed against her father's tight grip, she cried, "Kai Xin! No!"

The little girl cried and begged for her friend's life, "Daddy... Please, don't!"

Seeing his daughter's face, he cursed and threw Little Kai Xin down on the ground before yelling at his daughter,

"Shut up, you cunt! You and your dead mother are both the same! USELESS!"

The little girl watched as Little Kai Xin picked up a sharp stone.

Fearless, and blinded by anger, Little Kai Xin climbed onto the bridge and with her arm raised, she jumped and slammed the stone onto the man's head.

He roared out in pain and fell onto the ground. When he got back up, he turned back towards Little Kai Xin. His vision was blurry but he managed to grab her before she was able to run away.

"YOU LITTLE BITCH!" yelled the man as he tried to choke the life out of Little Kai Xin.

"Daddy! No!" begged the girl as she watched her friend's eyes rolled back.

There was a bright flash. Terrified of the sound that was about to come, the little girl closed her eyes and covered her ears with her hands.

'BOOOM!'

When she opened her eyes and looked up, her father was gone and she saw a young boy she knew.

He was leaning over the bridge and looking at something in the river.

As she shook the unconscious body of her friend in an attempt to wake her up, she cried, "Kai Xin...Kai Xin...Wake up, please..."

Her voice caught the boy's attention and reminded him of the scene he saw earlier.

"XIN!" yelled the boy as he rushed to his sister's side.

The little girl cried as she tried to explain, "Kai An...Kai Xin...She...My dad..."

Young Kai An ignored her as he felt for the pulse of his sister and checked for breathing.

"Shit! Alyssa, go call my mum now!" said Young Kai An as he gave his sister CPR.

However, as she stared at him trying to resuscitate his sister, she was too scared to move.

She was afraid that once she moved, her friend would be gone forever.

When Young Kai An saw Little Alyssa was still there, he yelled, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR!"

Startled by his loud voice, Little Alyssa woke up from her trance.

...

Alyssa woke up in the hospital with bandages all over her body. Her left hand was in a cast because of a bone fracture.

When she sat up, she saw the young man that tried to save her sleeping dangerously close to the edge of the couch.

She watched as he slowly turned before falling down onto the floor.

"Ouch!"

Rubbing his dead arm, he stood up and murmured something inaudible to himself.

"Uhm..." mumbled Alyssa.

He turned to her and blushed, "D-Did you see that?"

Alyssa shook her head and lied, "No, I just woke up."

Jiang Cheng sighed in relief. He did not want to embarrass himself in front of a pretty lady.

He looked at her bandages and asked, "Does it hurt? Should I call the doctor?"

Alyssa lifted her bandaged arm and shook her head, "This is nothing really."

Jiang Cheng looked at her with eyes filled with sadness.

Alyssa frowned, "Don't look at me like that. I'm not pitiful at all. Don't you dare pity me!"

There was a moment of silence as he tried to digest her words.

'PAP!!!'

She was stunned when Jiang Cheng slapped himself.

She asked worriedly, "Did you bumped your head earlier? Should I call the doctor for you instead? "

Rubbing his reddened left cheek, he shook his head and explained,

"No...I want to get the image of you being beaten out of my memory. It's all out now. I didn't see anything nor heard anything."

When she heard his explanation, she laughed, "Are you an idiot?"

Laughing stupidly, he shrugged, "Maybe..."

"What's your name, kid?"

"Jiang Cheng...and how do you know I'm younger? I could be older."

She smirked, "Please. You are at most 21."

He gasped, "How did you know?"

She shrugged, "I'm good at guessing people's age."

"So, what's your name?" asked Jiang Cheng.

"Alyssa Min," answered Alyssa while staring at the pudding on the table.

Jiang Cheng noticed it and he opened the pudding before saying, "I'll feed you."

Alyssa wanted to say no but she was tired and even though it was free of cast, her good arm was still in pain.

"So, how's your injury?" asked Alyssa when she saw him winced.

He shrugged, "I'm a man. I would be fine."

"Why did you help me? You should have run away or get help."

Jiang Cheng thought about it before he replied, "I don't know. My body moves on its own."

When she heard him, she smiled, "You reminded me of someone."

"Who?"

Turning away, she said softly, "An idiot."

Jiang Cheng looked at her curiously but she ignored him.
