DX heard "future Madam" and he nodded in approval. "When we are back, go and collect one month's bonus from the accounts. The twins now."
Han Ye was happy with the windfall but kept it to himself. Despite his heart jumping crazily, he managed to maintain his usual stoic face as he went on with the reports on Jack and Lyle. "Young Master Jack entered a painting competition. Young Master Lyle got into a serious fight with the heir of the Deputy Vice Chairman of Lee Corporation."
"Did he win?"
"Young Master Lyle got a cut on his left cheek. Young Master Lee broke an arm."
DX took a puff and released it before saying, "I don't care about Lyle. It is obvious that he would win. That is what the heir of Du Conglomerate should achieve. My mother would settle it for me. I want to know about Jack."
Han Ye thought nervously as he peered at this father of two, "President Du, Young Master Lyle is still a young boy and his opponent is 4 years older!" When DX glared at him for his slow response, Han Ye quickly reported, "Young Master Jack did not win anything."
DX took a last puff before flicking the fire off and stubbing it in the cigarette holder, "As expected. No one in my family has any talent in drawings."
"Young Master Jack probably did it for fun. He is still young after all."
DX thought that it was stupid of Jack to pursue an interest in painting. He inherited the genes of the Du Family which meant that he had absolutely no talent whatsoever with paint and paper. Most family of their station would have stopped their kids but DX allowed him to continue even though it was embarrassing. He liked that Jack never gives up no matter what happened. That's a quality that his heirs should have.
When the car finally arrived in town, DX stopped by Kai Xin's apartment. He saw her sitting at a nearby convenience store and frowned when he saw her eating instant noodles while reading some documents. He made it a point to scold her next time. She promised him to eat healthier!
"President?" Han Ye asked when DX merely sat there watching her. "Would you like to go down?"
DX did not answer him. He merely watched Kai Xin with the eyes of a man in love. That gaze of his sent shivers down to the very core of his little assistant's soul.
"Don't you think that she looks adorable in her oversized hoodie and glasses?"
Han Ye froze when he heard the question. His heart was racing as he thought fearfully, "Not again! Please spare me, boss!" He does not know what to say. At that moment, he felt as if he was standing on a landmine and regardless of where he steps, the entire place would blow up.
"Erm… Yes?"
DX glared at him from the corner of his eyes. Instead of the stupid loving eyes, his current eyes are filled with his usual frost as he snapped, "Why do you think of your future Ladyboss as adorable? Keep your perverted eyes away from her." He then continue looking at Kai Xin with the stupid look in his face.
Han Ye stared at his boss in disbelief as he thought, "Why is he being so unreasonable!"
They were there up until Kai Xin done eating and went back to her apartment. As they drove back home, DX asked, "Have you booked the restaurant at T Tower?"
"Yes, sir. As per your instruction, I have hired out the entire restaurant."
"Good."
"President, if you don't mind me asking, why are you doing this? I thought you want the world to know about your relationship with Ms Zhen?"
"I want to slowly ease her into this.." After a moment he added softly, more for his ears than for Han Ye, "If I can, I would prefer not to bring her into my tainted world."
Besides, this would ensure that "she" would keeps her hands away from Kai Xin for a while. DX had spent the last four years grooming her to be someone who is strong enough to deal with his overbearing and controlling mother. The little minx was more matured compared to 4 years ago and he did not mean maturity in the manner of speech or behaviour.
The maturity that he cared for are strength of the mind, soul and body. When he first met her, despite her strong front, he can see the broken soul contained within her. That woman back then would have been eaten alive by the people in his world. But the woman now...The lover that he had painstakingly kept hidden by his side is now a threat to behold. He was confident that she would be able to stand on her own feet in the treacherous world of the upper echelon.
