Kai Xin looked at Mrs. Smith with a blank look as if she did not understand what the woman was saying. When Mrs. Smith pointed to Kai Xin's stomach where her hand was still rested on it protectively, the latter immediately dropped her hand.

Knowing that she was pregnant, Mrs. Smith was worried about the fall earlier and asked, "Should we go to the hospital and get it checked out?"
"No!" hissed Kai Xin. Looking around, she made sure that no one was paying any attention to them before whispering, "We are keeping it a secret for as long as possible. I'm fine! Really!"
Before Mrs. Smith could ask anything else, she continued, "Please keep this to yourself, Mrs. Smith."
Mrs. Smith looked at her with a curious gaze. Pregnancy was a joyous matter and most women who were lucky enough to be carrying President Du's child would have made it known to everyone.
She noticed the ring on Kai Xin's hand which was a match with the one DX was wearing. If they were already engaged, why kept the pregnancy a secret?
When she looked at the woman in front of her, Mrs. Smith could not help but think, "I guess for her to snag the heart of the unfeeling President Du, she cannot be like most women..."
"Alright. I won't say anything about this to anyone else. Don't worry," said Mrs. Smith with a lowered voice. When she saw the news that they were dating, she had been surprised. DX was having a meeting with two of the directors who were on the fence when it came to choosing between the Du Family and the Song Family.
The next board meeting would be held in soon and they wanted to talk to him personally before they cast their votes.
The two directors cared naught for the feud between Director Song and DX. All they cared about was the company. For the sake of the company, they had to make the right decision and that was why they had to talk to both men.
They knew that both DX and Director Song were capable men who could lead the company. However, at the moment, the former was haunted by negative news that the two directors felt would make him unsuitable for the leadership position.
"Han Ye, if you've something more important to do, then go. I can handle the meeting on my own," said DX when he noticed that Han Ye kept staring at his watch. Occasionally, he would glance at the door as if he was waiting for someone to enter.
'KNOCK! KNOCK!'
In his heart, Han Ye thanked whoever it was and went to open the door. When he saw Kai Xin standing there, he sighed in relief. He was wondering what took her so long and thought that she might be in trouble.

DX turned towards the door and he was surprised when he saw her standing there. Walking over, he asked worriedly, "What's wrong? Did something happened?"
She shook her head and explained, "I'm bored of working in the firm so I thought of asking you out for lunch. Are you busy?"
He sighed in relief when he heard that she was only here for lunch. Looking at his watch, DX said, "I'll just wrap this up quickly. Come in first."
After he closed the door behind her, he introduced her to the directors before saying, "Why don't you go and sit at my desk first? We'll be done with the meeting shortly."
Kai Xin glanced at the directors before saying to DX, "If you guys are discussing something that is confidential, I can wait outside."
"No, it's fine. You are the future Madam President of this company," teased DX with a lowered voice. She was reluctant but she did not want to bother him any longer and thus, she obediently sat at his desk.
DX then told Han Ye to get some snacks for Kai Xin before resuming his meeting with the two directors.
They discussed the problems that arose lately because of the latest scandal and DX reassured them that he had everything under control.
"Listen to your Uncle Yulin, XiAn. I understand that you are madly in love now but you need to think about the company as a whole. Your Uncle Feng and I would like to support you unconditionally but your woman nearly jeopardized the future of Du Conglomerate. At the very least, for the sake of the company, change your girlfriend temporarily until the matter cools down. It doesn't have to be for real," said one of the directors, Director Yulin.
When he heard Director Yulin's suggestion, DX stood up abruptly and said, "Thank you for coming over to discuss the matter. However, even if it's fake, I don't want to do it. I'd understand if you choose to support Director Song but I wouldn't change my mind no matter what."
He glanced at Kai Xin who had her earphones plugged in while she ate some cookies. She was reading the financial newspapers on his desk while she waited for him to finish up the meeting.
Turning back to the directors, DX added, "Director Yulin. Director Feng. Kai Xin is my woman and she'd be my wife one day, and this would never be changed. Those ignorant people can talk about whatever they want. If things go awry, I'd take all the responsibilities. If it would help the company, I'd even resign from my position," said DX sternly.
He told Han Ye to inform the directors' drivers that they were done with the meeting so that they could arrive by the time the directors reached the ground floor.
The directors glanced at each other. They knew that the meeting was over.
They saw the gaze that was in DX's eyes when he was looking at Kai Xin. As far as they knew, it was the first time he had allowed his woman to sit in a meeting. In fact, they were surprised by his attitude. Back in the days, the DX that they knew would make his girlfriends sat outside at the waiting area.

"The meeting ended?" asked Kai Xin as she stood up.
"Yeah, like 5 minutes ago. What are you reading?" asked DX before he planted a kiss at the top of her head.
"The different types of funds that are available in the market right now. I didn't know that there are so many types of different funds that I can invest in," murmured Kai Xin as she pointed to an article in the newspaper.
"I'll teach you more about it."
"Did they bother you because of me? They don't like me, right?" asked Kai Xin with a wry smile.
When she smiled at them earlier, both the directors did not show any inclination to return the smile. Even though everything went back to normal, she knew that they were probably angry at her for causing the share prices to drop in the first place.
DX sighed. He took her hand and as they walked out of the room, he said, "Director Yulin and Director Feng worked with my father for a long time. They are not bad men nor are they greedy like Director Song. So, don't worry too much about them. They are just genuinely worried about the company."
