Nian Jiezhen sighed after hearing what he said. "So, what's the matter? Why are you calling me?"
"The clothes... your clothes that I sent to the laundry are here."
"Oh… I'll pass by your place later then."
"Just give me your address. I will be going out later, so I'll just pass by your place instead."
"Is that so? I'll send it to you then."
"Okay. Well, that's all I have to say so… see you later?"
"Hn, yes, later."
After the call ended, Nian Jiezhen went back to the kitchen.
"Work?" Xia Meilin asked as she turned to her.
"No, it's a call from Xiao Xi. She'll be passing by here to drop something." Nian Jiezhen replied before she took her cup of hot chocolate and took a sip from it.
A mischievous glint appeared in Xia Meilin's eyes but as soon as it appeared, it disappeared.
Her instincts were telling her that it would just be a matter of time before the two would start falling for each other. When that would happen, Xia Meilin could fully consider Nian Jiezhen as her friend!
She should probably lock herself inside a room when Ren Shiyuan arrives. She didn't want to spoil the moment between them after all since she that her presence would only distract the two.
"I think you should move to my parents' place next week," said Nian Jiezhen.
Xia Meilin gave her a questioning look, despite seeing that, Nian Jiezhen continued, "I will start working next week. If we have a case to deal with, I won't be able to go home for a couple of days. You need someone to accompany you here."
Xia Meilin frowned at the idea of leaving her place. If she moved out, then she wouldn't be able to monitor Nian Jiezhen and Ren Shiyuan's blooming relationship!
Her eyebrows knitted together when she thought of that. "I can handle myself here." It was obvious in her voice that she didn't want to leave Nian Jiezhen's place. "My husband said that you have to take care of me, not your parents."
"I can't take care of you since I have work to attend. I can't babysit you, so you need someone else to watch over you."
If things went bad and if the man who was trying to disturb her suddenly showed himself up, Xia Meilin would be in danger and Nian Jiezhen didn't want that to happen since she promised Lu Yifeng about her safety.
Babysit? Xia Meilin didn't like that word being used to her, how dare she treats her like a kid? Xia Meilin laughed grimly, before she said, "So? Is that my problem? You gave your words to my husband, so you should keep it well."
Nian Jiezhen's brow twitched in annoyance. Can't Xia Meilin listen to her even once? Why was she being so stubborn? Didn't they just promise Little Melon that they won't fight?
Nian Jiezhen was about to say something but she couldn't do so when the doorbell suddenly rang.
Nian Jiezhen's guards went up like the usual whenever she heard her doorbell rang.
Ren Shiyuan was already here? That was fast. Xia Meilin thought. Oh well, she should probably leave so that she won't distract the two. "I'm tired. I'll go get some rest." She headed towards the guest room that Nian Jiezhen prepared for her.
Xia Meilin walked out, leaving Nian Jiezhen there.
Nian Jiezhen sighed heavily. It looked like she needed to properly talk it out with Xia Meilin. She really can't allow her to stay with her without someone watching over her. It was her responsibility to watch over her and make sure that she was safe. If she wasn't going to be around then the only choice was to let someone else babysit her...
Nian Jiezhen took the gun that was stuck from under the table. She has always placed guns in every room in case of emergency. She kept the gun behind her as she approached the door, her hand refusing to leave the gun's handle.
When she heard the doorbell rang again, she inhaled deeply was praying that it wasn't 'him'.
It was snowing heavily outside, the cars that were parked on the side of the streets was instantly covered by it.
Ren Shiyuan was standing before her by the time she opened the door. His long hair was tied into a bun and as usual, he looked gorgeous, his face as smooth and soft looking like an egg. He was wearing a thick cashmere coat and under it was a white blouse that was inserted under his high waist black skirt that was four inches above his knees. He partnered his clothes with high heeled knee boots. A scarf was wrapped around his neck to keep his neck warm. He was holding a red umbrella to keep the snow from falling on him.
Seeing the tall beauty in front of her, Nian Jiezhen couldn't help but marvel at his sight and aside from that, she was relieved upon seeing that it wasn't the guy she was expecting.
Ren Shiyuan chuckled when he saw the way Nian Jiezhen was staring at her. He placed his hand on the doorpost and leaned towards her. The side of his lips curled up as he let out a sexy smirk. "If you continue on staring at me that way, I won't be able to stop myself from kissing you."
Because of Ren Shiyuan's words, Nian Jiezhen was able to snap back to reality. Her face instantly became red because of the closeness of their faces and her heart started beating faster!
By reflex, she took a step away from him, "W-What are you doing here?"
"Have you forgotten? I am here to give this back to you." He smiled at her as he showed her the paper bag that has her clothes in it. Seeing her act so cute made him want to tease her more! Maybe he should play around with her for a while?
Nian Jiezhen let go of the gun that was behind her before she grabbed the paper bag from him in a blink of an eye. She hugged it close to her chest as if she was protecting it. "Tha… Thank you." She bowed at him before she was about to close the door. She honestly didn't want him to be close to her.
She recognized the familiar feelings that started to grow in her chest and that was definitely a bad sign! She was not going to allow such feelings to grow!
