"You're Huang Li Na?! What's going on?" Huan Hei questioned with a harsh voice.
"Hei, now is not the time to say this. She needs to be treated. Let's bring her to the hospital first."
"No! I.. I can't go to the hospital. Can you bring me home?" Nana's eyes reddened and her body trembled in fear.
Sigh
"Alright. Can you walk? I'll call a cab and bring you home."
"I can." Nana pretended to lose her balance and took this opportunity to touch Ya Nuo's chest. 'Even though she did a good job bandaging her chest, I can still feel a bit of her breast. She's definitely a girl, but why is she in a disguise? I guess this will have to wait for another day.'
"Are you okay?" Ya Nuo asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. My legs are feeling a little weak from getting up too fast. I can walk now. Thank you."
Ya Nuo wrapped her arm around Nana and carefully helped her up.
"Ow..." Nana hissed.
"I'm sorry, did I hurt you? Did those girls hit you on your back earlier?"
Nana nodded and looked away, "I'm sorry, but I'm alright now. I can get on the cab myself. Thank you very much for saving me. You look very familiar to me. Maybe we've met before. Anyways, thank you."
"You're welcome. Be careful next time."
The cab arrived the next minute and Nana took the cab home. 'She's definitely Ya Nuo. Ah.. her school jacket... I'll give it back on Saturday. I need to thin of an excuse and avoid mom when I get back. Her sharp eyes are definitely getting better these days. Hmm... just act normal... maybe I could just say that I'm sick so I came home earlier than usual...'
"Miss, we are here. Do you want me to drive pass the gates?"
"No, here is fine. Thank you, keep the change."
"Miss! Your ride costs $20, you gave me $100. Are you sure you don't want the change?"
"It's fine. Keep it as your tip."
"Thank you very much! Have a great day."
'Shit, my back really hurts, should I ask Uncle Chen Mu to treat me? He's busy at the hospital...never mind. I hope mom isn't home or something..'
Nana took a deep breath and opened the door, "I'm home." she whispered in a low voice. She tried to bend down and reach for her slippers, but her back was in too much pain so she took off her shoes and carried it upstairs. After getting back to her room, she sighed in relief.
'I'm all dirty and stinky. Let me try taking a shower..'
When she raised her arms a little, she couldn't help but whimper in pain. Tears formed in her eyes and she slowly sat herself on the floor. "I can't stand this pain... I need to call mommy.."
Shi Xue was in the kitchen preparing dinner when she picked up Nana's call.
"Yes sweetie? Don't you have class right now?"
"Mommy.. help me.."
"What's wrong?"
"I'm upstairs..."
"Huh?? What? When did you come home? Sweetheart? Hello?"
Nana wanted to respond, but it was too painful. Shi Xue turned off the stove and ran up to Nana's room. "Nana!! What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?"
"Mommy.. don't move me.. it hurts.."
"Where does it hurt? Tummy? legs? Your-" Shi Xue narrowed her eyes in fury, "Why is your hand all red and bruised? How did you get this injury? Where else are you hurt? Don't worry, mommy will call Chen Mu right now. He will be here soon. Let mommy help you lay in bed okay?"
Nana shook her head, "My back is injured. I can't..it hurts."
Shi Xue quickly called Chen Mu, "I'm sorry for bothering you, but you need to come to me immediately. Nana is injured badly and she can't move. She's crying and I'm afraid she might collapse anytime. Please come right now."
After calling Chen Mu, she called Zhi Hei, "Come home right now. Nana is hurt. Chen Mu is on his way."
"Got it." Zhi Hei quickly drove home from his company and rushed into Nana's room. The first thing he noticed was Nana's awfully bruised hand. It was mixed with red, blue, purple, and unpleasant colors. Chen Mu was examining her back and was extremely cautious of where he was touching. Zhi Hei quietly wiped Nana's tears and whispered, "Daddy and mommy is here. Don't be afraid. Whoever did this to you will pay..10 times more than what you're suffering."
Chen Mu: "We need to get her to the hospital and perform some scans on her body. Even though these look like very serious injuries, her back is better than it looks. I want to make sure she isn't fractured or anything."
Zhi Hei: "Okay. Come, sweetheart, daddy will carry you okay? Let me know if the position hurts you. "
When he tried to carry her in princess style, she groaned painfully. After careful adjustments, Zhi Hei was piggy backing her to the car. When they reached the entrance, Zhen Qi, Jiang Wei, and Ke Shen (3rd son) came back from school.
All three of them ran to Nana.
Zhi Hei: "I need to drive. Zhen Qi or Jiang Wei, one of you carry her on your back while I get the car. She's injured so don't touch her back or hand. We don't know where else she may be injured."
Zhen Qi quickly bent down, "I'll carry her."
Jiang Wei and Shi Xue carefully positioned Nana on Zhen Qi's back. Nana opened her eyes slightly and slowly lost consciousness, 'He's so warm.. and comfortable.'
When Nana woke up, she saw Zhen Qi holding her uninjured hand and wiping her face gently with a wet towel.
"You're awake?" he whispered.
She stared at him for a bit before nodding.
"Your parents and brothers just fell asleep. Are you feeling any pain? Do you want water?"
Nana's eyes swelled up and tears dripped down her pale face.
"It's alright. You're safe now. We're all here. nobody can harm you. Those who injured you will not get away.Lucky your injuries aren't too serious. You didn't have any fractures on your back or hand. When you were hit, one of the strikes hit your spine that's why you were in extreme pain and couldn't move. Treatments were done and you'll be good as new soon." he gently brushed her hair and calmed her down.
"Warm..."
"hmm? did you say something?"
She shook her head, "Can I get water?"
"I'll get it for you. Stay here and don't move."
After Zhen Qi left the room, she smiled slightly, "When you were carrying me earlier, I heard your heartbeat even though I was unconscious. It was beating so fast that it sounded like it will explode. Oddly, your heartbeat soothed my pain a little and relaxed me."
