Shopkeeper Yu refrained from grinning after hearing what Gao Lan Mei asked the mute old beggar.

This gave him the impression that Gao Lan Mei is not confident that the poisonous walnuts will be found by this nosy dirty old man.

Thinking this, he was glad that he decided to mix the cheap ones to the high-grade walnuts from the medical pavilion farm.

No one will notice the difference!

For Gao Chu, it doesn't make sense why Gao Lan Mei is not showing the paper from the old mute beggar to the others from the crowd.

Will, not that makes things easier? They will have a witness.

Asking curiously, "Young miss, I think it best to have someone else read the paper as a witness." She went closer to Gao Lan and suggested this.

Gao Lan Mei just looked at Gao Chu dryly, who just bowed her head when she saw the warning gaze.

'It seems that the young miss has her own intention, so I will just shut up.' Gao Chu decided, not bothering to ask some more.

Impatiently exclaimed, "Woman we do not have the whole day! I will do what you say, but you will compensate heavily if you are wrong!" Shopkeeper Yu would like things to finish soon.

The faster it will be done, the faster he can also hide the other cheap walnuts.

He already gave the signal to his personal assistant to manipulate the available walnuts in the store. He just hopes that it will be done efficiently, else they are both going to get screwed.

Him being poisoned and receiving the punishment and his personal assistant for conniving. They need to make sure that regardless of what walnut he pick and eat, he will be fine!

He then glared at Gao Lan Mei. This young woman, though her background is unknown, she should not offend him. He has the medical pavilion backing him up as long as the owner will not find him at fault.

Gao Lan Mei looked at the old mute beggar who was currently thinking that she may have already changed her mind. She was already implicated anyway, so it's understandable.

"I want this on an agreement written on paper with a sworn witness," she spoke in a way that he even cannot refute.

Answering immediately, "Fine!" Though surprised, shopkeeper Yu still agreed. He sneered. Young people this day are impulsive. This young woman will learn her lesson the hard way.

He instructed one of the helpers to write down the agreement. "This miss will compensate, five hundred thousand gold coins and she will be my personal servant," he said with a smirk like he already won the agreement before it even gets started.

Shopkeeper Yu looks forward to having this young woman to be her personal servant. He started having lewd thoughts.

Gao Lan Mei frowned, "If we are correct, the medical pavilion will pay the old beggar five hundred thousand gold coins… And I can have any herb that I want whenever I want for free!" She said with a domineering voice.

It is very easy for Gao Lan Mei to just show the paper to others to prove that she is not lying. But who will benefit? On the other hand, who else she trust from this bunch of strangers?

It's the mortal nature to only do things that benefit them. Was it normal for a mortal choose to help someone who they do not know? Of course not. She is also the same.

It is very easy for anyone to burn the paper then say that she is wrong to curry favor to the Medical Pavilion, so she will not let anything about it.

She does not need to curry favor with anyone. The most she needs now are herbs. Tons of them! So how can she not take advantage of this?

It is purely coincidence that she is going to benefit while helping the mute old beggar.
