A few moments ago on the pier.

The ship was drifting away from them but the guards were still watching, just in case Dongmei would fall into the water and they had to pull her out. They were not only mad at themselves for letting Dongmei escape but also scared of what will happen if Guan Dong learns about it.

They watched as the lawyer that was representing Wuxing caught her when she was almost falling which made them sigh in relief. It was always best if Dongmei was safe while running away from them. If she got hurt in the process, their heads would definitely roll on the ground.

With each swing of Dongmei's body, the guard's hearts were tightening, scared the lawyer would suddenly release her and throw their miss into the water. When he suddenly let go of one of her hands, their hearts stopped functioning but then Dongmei caught the railing and landed safely on the deck.

"Oof…" Both of them released the air they gathered in their lungs in one big sigh of relief. As long as Dongmei was safe, they could still survive through this predicament. The ship was already far away from the bay and it shifted a bit, making it impossible to see their miss anymore.

"How do we inform the boss that we lost her? He will definitely get pissed…" One of the guards asked confused about what to do. They were just the guards so even if they rush to the Chief Warden, he wouldn't lend them any prison boats.

His partner first pulled out the phone as he decided quickly, "Let's first inform Shadow. We don't know why she ran away. Wuxing should still be in the apartment, there is no reason she would run, unless…" As he started theorizing, he suddenly stopped, looking at his buddy before glancing at the ship, having a certain idea forming in his mind.

It looked like they both figured it out at the same time as they said, "Unless… Wuxing sneaked out and is hiding in the ship!" When this idea got into them, they realised how real this could be. There was no other reason why Dongmei could do it.

"Fuck!" The guard with the phone quickly cursed, calling Shadow to somehow confirm their crazy idea.

If Wuxing was still in the apartment, the situation could be somehow resolved as Dongmei had the GPS chip installed in her hand but if Wuxing was also gone, then the situation would be totally different. It meant that all this while, they were just pretending and acting, trying to run away together from the start.

Bang!

Just as the call connected, they heard a weak but clear sound of a gunshot coming from the ship which scared the shit out of them both. Their only thoughts filling their minds at that time were, 'Someone was shooting on the ship! Miss was in danger!'

At the same time, Shadow was laying on the roof in his comfy beach chair he stole from the warehouse. The weather was too hot for him to stay in his black outfit the whole time so he changed to white, his sleeves rolled up on both legs and arms.

Bzzz. Bzzz.

Hearing his phone vibrating on the floor, Shadow raised his towel he put on the face and cursed not expecting anyone to bother him, "Fuck, who is calling right now. The situation should be settled for now…" He was working this whole time without breaks so he deserved some time to relax a bit.

Seeing it was one of the Dongmei guards calling him, Shadow suppressed his original unwillingness as it could be something important regarding their miss so he picked up, saying coldly, "What's up?"

Just as he expected it was something important, but he didn't expect it was this shocking, his first sentence being, "Miss ran away! We need backup! There was a gunshot as well!" Shadow couldn't exactly hear the sounds so far but just talking about it gave him a scare.

Shadow quickly stood up, knocking the chair back as he bellowed to the phone, "What?! How could she run away?! Are you two idiots?! Where is she?! What gunshot?!" The information came so quickly that he couldn't quite grasp what was going on or how one girl could run away from two strong dudes.

Hearing the mad Shadow, the guard wiped away the sweat from his forehead and quickly explained, avoiding unnecessary details, "Miss ran towards the docks before jumping from the pier at the departing ship in the last second. She was safe in the ship but we just heard a gunshot coming from the ship. It's too far for us to see what is going on… Miss might be in danger..."

When the guard finished, Shadow was already pale. Even if it was the guard's fault for letting her escape, not his own, if anything happens to Dongmei, his head would also roll. Guan Dong would use every means possible to find them and make their lives miserable.

The problem they were now facing was Dongmei's reason for running away. Even if she wanted to board the ship on her own, they couldn't force her to stay else she would just kill them. They couldn't do anything to her but she would be unpunished no matter what she did. The only thing they could do it stopping her from doing something dangerous else they wouldn't be protected even by Guan Dong.

Thinking of what to do now, Shadow cursed under his breath and said, "Fuck... Why would she even do that? We need to get on the ship no matter what and make sure she is safe else we are done for."

"The only reason she would run is… Wait…" Just as he started figuring out what could happen, the answer quickly appeared in his mind, featuring the face of a certain man who lived just beneath his feet.

Both the guard and he cried out at the same time, "It's Wuxing!" Shadow's gaze landed on the balcony that was just a few meters away from him when the guard added, "The only reason for Miss to run away is Wuxing. If she wanted to leave, there was no point in running. Check if he is still in the apartment."

Shadow quickly dropped to the balcony, replying in the process, before putting the phone into his pocket, "I know! Hold on!" Looking through the glass doors, the thing that he was worried about happened. He didn't spot anyone in the apartment. He still had to go in and check to make sure, so he picked the flowerpot and smashed the glass doors, sending the fragments everywhere in the room.

He immediately went inside, running towards the bathroom first but he didn't find anyone. Looking at the apartment, there was no Wuxing anywhere which made him curse, shouting to the phone, "Damn! He is gone!" As he said that, he walked to the closet which he didn't check and suddenly heard some sounds coming from the inside.

Thud! Thud!

The doors shook as if someone started hitting it with his legs. Shadow pulled out his gun on instinct and aimed at the doors, reaching out to open it.

What he saw inside was a naked lawyer he saw earlier, having his hands tied behind his back and mouth gagged with a long sock. When the lawyer saw the gun pointed at him by an unknown dude, he tried to talk to Shadow but only silenced sounds came out of his mouth, "Mhmm, mhmm!"

Taking out the phone, Shadow asked the guard, "Was there a lawyer in the ship?"

The guard found it a wierd question as that should be obvious but still replied, "Yeah, he was on the deck. He was the one caught and who helped Miss enter the board. Why?"

Shadow gave the lawyer one more look and asked again as he put the gun away, "Are you sure the lawyer on the ship wasn't Wuxing who just wore the lawyer's suit? Because I just found the naked lawyer in the closet."

"What…?" Hearing the news, the guard frowned, a questioning looking filling his face. After recalling the lawyer entering and leaving the apartment earlier, he called out with confidence, "It's impossible! I saw him leaving the apartment. His face was identical to that of a lawyer. There is no way that could be true."

Instead of trying to convince him, Shadow rolled the lawyer over with his leg so that he could click the photo of his face and sent it to the guard. They had to understand what was going on so the guard had to see it on his own.

"Impossible…" Both guards saw the photo and their response was the same but the tone of their voice was different. There were no longer sure what is going on.

Knowing they couldn't help him, Shadow pulled out the gag from the lawyer's mouth and asked coldly instead, "Where is Wuxing?"

Seeing that everything was happening just like Wuxing told him, the lawyer thought in amazement, 'Is he a god…? He predicted everything…' Earlier during their deal settling, Wuxing predicted three scenarios that could happen and everything that happened with Dongmei and the guy in front of him was exactly prediction number three.

The lawyer didn't want to believe in it but now it was hard for him to reject the reality. Looking at the situation up till this point, the lawyer could only follow Wuxing's instructions, knowing he couldn't anger such individual.

Pretending to be scared, he glanced at the pistol and called out, "Please, don't kill me! I will tell you everything! It was all that Mr Li and Miss Guan plan! I was just carrying out their orders…"

Hearing that Miss Guan was tangled in the affair as well, Shadow frowned even deeper and asked for further information, "What plan? What did Miss tell you to do?" If their Miss was connected with it, they couldn't act too rashly, so Shadow was more careful now.

Still glancing at the gun with fear, the lawyer told everything without missing a detail, "Miss Guan ordered an expensive mask that looked exactly like my face to help Mr Li escape. He took away my suit and everything before leaving after wearing my mask. Even I was shocked by how similar he looked. I swear! Miss Guan said she will contact me again after the job is done to pay me the other half. They already paid half a million to my account in United Nations currency."

"Did you hear it? We were all played by Miss and Wuxing." Shadow asked the guard, stating the fact. Personally, he knew who was behind all of this and was just using their Miss as a tool to arrange everything for him. He already noticed how scheming Wuxing could be and the current situation could confirm it.

Contrary to the appearances, if not for the possibility of Dongmei being in danger due to the gun, he would be okay with this turn of events. Now he could blame everything on Wuxing and redirect all anger from Guan Dong onto Wuxing.

At the start, Shadow did not even think about informing Guan Dong about this, planning to resolve it all without his inference but now it was even better if he did.

"Damn… To think we believed in Miss tears… We need to quickly catch up with the ship. We need your assistance to get the boat from the Chief Warden as he won't give us anything if we ask." The guard cursed as he recalled their Miss tears which looked too real to be faked.

The second guard also added his five cents and recommended, "I think we will need Boss' assistance on that. Chief Warden only listens to Miss Guan. If we don't inform him, we will be doomed even if Miss is safe."

Shadow only smiled and left to the kitchen, ignoring the lawyer and said as if he was doing them a favour, "Fine, I will be the one to call him."

Cancelling the call, Shadow chose Guan Dong number and dialled him while going outside the broken door. Unfortunately, what he heard was, "The customer you are trying to reach is currently on a call, please wait or try again later."
