The history of magic development is also chaotic similar to how nations wage war against other countries. Good thing that the war is over for now but with all of the remnants of the wars, it was inevitable to escape another war. I just realized it but if people were involved in a magic war, there is only one fate which would cause real trouble. Imagining if that happens in the future is something I don't want to see at the moment and I hope that it won't occur.

"Oh yeah, what is now going on to the chasm?"

"About that, I already sealed it. I just needed to destroy a few points of the portal that the chasm is producing to collapse it. Also, from the looks of my investigation, the owner of the chasm who caused it to open inside the cave already left. That person might have already known that we are tracking the source of the scourge so he left without leaving any traces."

"Smart move for an enemy. So, are we done here with the portal?" I asked.

"Yeah. Looking back, this won't happen if I am vigilant enough and managed to avoid an attack by a person like that Chief. Sorry for dragging you all into this especially you Kazuma."

I scratched my head at loss on his words. "It's nothing really, and besides, I would still be dragged to this mess a bit later because I have Hikari in my possession. The outcome will just be the same."

Catmod paused and adjusted his monocle. " Oh, I completely forgot about the Elemental Pixie. Now that the threat is done, are you going to send Hikari away back to the wild?"

"I am planning to do so so that she can live her life to the fullest. I am basically not her master so she would never be something that belongs to me. She is not bound to me or anything, I just want her to be free and not shackled to my life."

But then, Hikari once again appeared out of thin air and rushed towards me with tears on her eyes.

"Daddy will leave me? Daddy doesn't love me anymore?"

I was taken aback by the sudden appearance of Hikari. She is actually listening? And hey, she is also able to speak properly now. How come she is able to do so now? Did she ever study? But I never taught her anything aside from hiding from the enemies out of plain sight. Did she do some self-learning?

Without waiting for her to bawl out, I quickly pat her head using my forefinger since she is small for my whole hand.

"No, I was just trying to let you go to be independent enough. You are a big girl right?"

"But I wanted to be with daddy! Daddy will always be there for me, right? I have been alone for how many years and now that I find Daddy, I am no longer sad. So please Daddy, don't leave me alone."

My heart ached when I heard what she said. She is alone for quite some time, waiting for the person to break her out of her shell. And because I was the one who did it, she already view me as her father. Although I am not an expert in taking care of children, I won't be so cruel to just reject what she is implying me to do. And besides, I kind of view myself to her. Without parents to help, we are indeed the same. Therefore, I decided to just keep my decision for her.

"Alright, Daddy will always be here for you, I won't leave you alone."

"Haha, well, plans are scratched out, what will you do next Kazuma?"

"I still haven't done the training so I guess I would continue doing so," and pulled out the necklace that Catmod has given to me since I arrived at the place. Catmod's expression was so shocked his mouth hangs wide open.

"You are wearing that necklace the entire time? You didn't remove it away from you?!"

"Well, no. It's a perfect chance for me to maintain my training so it was nothing really. I have already got used to it now."

Catmod was speechless and facepalmed himself. After that, he looked at Miya. "So what are you going to do now, Miya? Everything is done and the conflict is already over. Are you going back to your camp?"

Miya sighed and cast a sad look to the ground. "Indeed, I have to go to the village and say goodbye. With everything done already, my role in the village is also over. Without any parents waiting for me, I shall go and find something that I would be doing right now. I should start exploring the outside world I guess."

I was taken aback on Miya's answer. That was not the answer I was expecting she would say.

"Huh? Why are you suddenly saying you will be exploring the outside world... aren't your family the elves in this forest?" Catmod asked.

"It is a huge taboo for us elves to kill one of our kind and although the Chief deserved it and he already transformed into Abyssal Demon, we can't just ignore that he was once an elf. Since I finished him off earlier even though he is in his undead form, that is still a form of killing. I had to abide by the rules of our tribe."

I quickly stop her from this with some reasoning so that she could start changing her decision. "Then how come the chief still living in the tribe even after he killed your parents. He should have left the tribe much earlier!"

"He is an exception. He is just someone who is shameless enough. Don't compare me with him," Miya said and glared at me.

I raised my hands in submission. "Fine, fine you are different from him so you shouldn't be too angry on me."

"I will handle these books Kazuma. We can dig up clues and knowledge for this later on. Let's go back to the camp before we go to the ruins again."

I nodded and took a glance at Miya. This is a hard decision for her but I guess that she still prioritized the rules of the tribe than her own feelings. I just shook my head because rules are meant to be broken if it was me. What I want right now though is to go back home and sleep.
