The dryad sighed. She knows that if she ever lie, she would be immediately attacked with my skill to tighten the ropes on her body. Besides, she also hopes that someone would free her from the inescapable situation in her life ever since the mermaid in the swamp appeared.
On the other hand, I am considering visiting this mermaid in question. If what the dryad said is true, then this mermaid is indeed the one that keeps on singing for quite a while now. No wonder it has a very enticing voice. It's because it is indeed trying to attract anyone to her domain.
"Lead me to the lair of the Mermaid. I want to see her myself."

The dryad is speechless. She never thought that this person would only go to watch. Doesn't that mean he is just courting his own death by going to the lair? But since he volunteered, she has no choice but to allow him to go. Who knows if this guy would really end her suffering or he will just become one of the unfortunate victims the mermaid will have.
"Fine, now unhand me with this rope. It's getting irritating to feel this on my body, " the dryad said.
"Nope, not yet. Until you are proven to be just a servant and not the main perpetrator, then that rope would be staying there for now."

The dryad led me to a bit of a wetlands. I am still wondering how big this forest is. Considering that this place consists of different places, I don't know if there are some sort of remains here and there of ancient civilization in this place like the Aztec tribes and whatnot.
And this would be the first time I am doing a task like this without any proper gear. And now I am facing another entity that usually exists only in books. I should have brought my phone with me and make a snap-on of this mermaid. Perhaps it might garner attraction to the mass? But then again, as the rule of the chat group, never ever reveal any dealings that might cause normal people to get to know the world of magic accidentally.
Soon, the place became a frequent water-filled place. There is also a weird smell hanging out in the air. It was a bit pungent and nasty to the nose that I can't help wrinkle it and cover. This rotten I can't explain is something I can't figure out. As I walk a bit more, I saw a pile of bones in the side. Some were already grown with algae and a few of them looked fresh.
"Are these..." I pointed on the pile of bones.
"Yes, those are bones are from the unfortunate adventurer who died from the mermaid's hands."
I looked into the pile of bones and clasped my hands together. After that, I continue walking forward with the dryad. The whole place is already dark without any sign that sunlight can pass through this place. The leaves of the trees are so vast that I doubt the sunlight can even penetrate this place.
"This place is emanating a whole serious dark energy. It gives me the chills," I mumbled to myself.
I started to feel goosebumps in my body. The last time I felt a goosebump is when I almost peed in my pants while doing a recitation in front of the class but aside from that experience, this would be the second time for me to feel it.
Soon, after scaling the trees for quite some time, the dryad stopped into the shoreline of the swamp water. I looked at the area and scanned using the mana scan on the surroundings. Suddenly, I felt a tinge of pain in my head again. This happened when I scanned the mana of the earrings that Onizuka once owned. That means something is currently holding a massive amount of power that caused me to wince like this.
The dryad touched the almost black water in the swamp and as soon as ripples appeared in the water, an enchanting voice of a woman can be heard on the surroundings. It was really attractive that I wanted to spit out things on it. This is just a way too bullcrap for me.
The ripples turned to bubbles and bubbles turned into boiling ones. It didn't take long for an explosion to occur on the water. The Dryad step back a bit but she did not go as far as expected. She still remained a bit closer to the swamp lake. I quickly saw a woman's figure appeared on the bubbling water. Unlike from my expectations of a pretty woman emerging on the water, a very ugly fish woman that looks like a monster hybrid of a woman and a rotten fish. She also had tattered clothes and skin is rotten enough. No wonder this mermaid relied on the dryad, it's because it's ugly. Only the song's power of the mermaid is enough to attract unexpected victims.
The mermaid look at the dryad with a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
"Let me guess, you did not get the victims for me to eat right now right?" the mermaid asked.
The Dryad looked down to the ground in shame. The mermaid shook her head and then saw the bindings on the Dryad's body.
"You got caught?! You got caught!?" the mermaid started breathing heavily that it seemed abnormal. I look at the mermaid with a frown. The mermaid started screaming hard. I don't expect any kind of thing to happen with that but I was not sure because all of a sudden, I heard rumbling and thunderclaps for a while.
This is unaccounted for. I never expected to witness the real power of the mermaid. The Dryad is clearly afraid but she did not back down.
"I am hungry! Since you did not go with our promise, I will be eating you!" the mermaid shouted at the dryad.
The dryad got terrified hearing the warning but she hopes that she can still escape from the grasp of the mermaid. I look at the Mermaid with a frown. Looks like it will get more dangerous from now on.
