The mermaid did not listen since she is much more in focus on her "lovely" singing which makes my head hurt. If this is the case, only one thing is certain, I need to shut this monster up. Since the mermaid is much mesmerized by her singing, she did not notice me grab a stone around the size of a ping pong ball. After that, I enveloped the stone with flames, though this is not similar to adding elements on weapons and other stuff, this is just similar, just with a very slight difference in the way of the process.
The mermaid is still opening her mouth wide while singing. I squinted my eyes and with a slight distancing, I hurled the stone that I aimed to land on her open mouth. Of course, to make sure that she can't spit out the ball and to ensure that it won't miss, I used telekinesis to properly discern the trajectory.
The stone thrown is very straightforward that before the mermaid can react, the stone already fell into her throat. Since it's just a small ping pong sized stone and with her massive mouth, the stone did not have any problems falling down the throat.
"GULP..."
The mermaid made a quick halt to her "adorable" singing as she tried to cough out the stone out. I didn't try to let her get the stone out. I already made a move, and I will be making sure that this kill won't be the same kill I have done in the past that I almost fell to the verge of death. I focus on the flame element I added and after finding it, I have connected my mana stream on it and activated my power.
"Burn to Cinders!"

After the click sound of my snapping finger, the mermaid suddenly felt hot in her belly, then on her esophagus until to her throat. It was like she has experienced heartburn but this is a bit more extreme, she had started clawing her neck with her hands.
"AH! NGH! STOP! GRAH! AHHH!"
The mermaid furiously clawed out her neck until blue blood started to flow out yet she didn't stop. I only stood still and watch her do that self-harm to herself. It would serve as her karma for doing lots of torture to others that she has inflicted on her victims in the past. Death is the only outcome for her. She squirmed in pain and tries to reach out for me. I frowned at this but it did not last for her because, after a few more seconds, her suffering came to an end. She floated lifeless on the water with some liquid floating around her dead body. I am sure she is dead because the immense amount of mana that she exuded earlier is already extinguished. Not a single tinge of mana is left to squeeze out. I did not hesitate to grab my chance and sucked in her soul just like how I did with Onizuka and all of her memories flowed into me. The mana tree will grow again. I might as well check it out later.
Since the mermaid is officially dead, I used Telekinesis to her body and drag her to the shore and examined her body. If monsters have cores in their bodies that can be salvaged and used, then this one should also have one. I still have not used up the core of the crab monster last time, maybe I will start using that again in the future. However, I have no experience in core gathering so I decided to ask the seed. The seed did not respond at first but it soon gave in after it notices the mermaid's corpse on the ground.
"A mermaid's corpse huh? And a dark type one at that. This would be tricky. Most of her body parts are being taken already by the darkness and only a few parts are salvageable. From what I can see, the only thing that can be salvaged and used by you is the Mermaid's core. The other parts are meant to be disposed of."
"Eh? Why dispose of this body? Shouldn't we need to bury her somewhere?"
"You don't understand. The body of the mermaid is totally tainted by darkness already and if you want to bury her somewhere untainted, the darkness will seep out and taint the surroundings instead so its much better if you shouldn't bury her. Much better if you burn her body using your blue flames."
Before I can say anything, Hikari appeared out of nowhere and happily hovered into the mermaid's corpse. I quickly pull Hikari off the corpse because the seed said this corpse will taint almost anything but the seed suddenly said something.
"Wait a minute kid! Allow the Elemental Pixie to do her job. Since she is the chaos type pixie, she can do help out on purifying this tainted body of the pixie!"
"Hikari can do that?"
"Yes. It is one of her abilities that you shouldn't make light. It would be really handy in terms of purifying darkness like that mermaid."
I let Hikari go and she quickly hovered around the corpse for quite a while. After a few seconds, she clasped her tiny hands together and all of a sudden, a strong sense of darkness was suddenly gathered in my location, or should we say Hikari's location. It created a small vortex around the area and the dark energy started to appear on a mass scale. But unlike the way Moonlight did the purifying where the darkness lingered around for quite a bit and attracted beasts to our location, Hikari's way did not cause something like that. Instead, the darkness gathered for a short amount of time before it was suddenly sucked by Hikari that seems to be the void for the darkness. The whole surroundings in the swamp started to lighten up a bit and the darkness that floated around the place dissipated. I was surprised to see the swamp that the mermaid lived in became a very good-looking place. It turned into a river. The dirtiness of the place disappeared.
I noticed that the body of the mermaid started to get lighter from a dark green color to light brown which is slightly different from her previous form. Her horns were also gone and her body seems to return to her former form before she was turned into the demon state earlier.
Turns out, she was really pretty and gorgeous. The only thing is that she is dead. I clasped my hands together and prayed for her. I feel regret taking her soul away but I know I can't release the soul out once it was sucked in. But there is also a part of me that never cared and seems to be rejoicing which is rather weird. Did I just rejoice over the death of an individual?
Before I can bury her, the dryad appeared once more. This time, she is not wary of me at all but she seemed to be having a satisfied look in her face. She glanced at me and bowed down.
"I am indebted to you for helping the forest get rid of the darkness. My desire to rid darkness is finally finished. If you have some favor to ask, don't hesitate to ask me."
