The way to the elven camp is much smoother right now. Besides the minor attacks of monsters who unsuspectingly attack our group, nothing else happened too much. Moonlight and the others keep on asking this and that to Leto. Leto happily answered them without hesitation. Ironic that earlier, we are enemies and after a few while, we are now friends and are now talking without any restriction.
Meanwhile, I was just too preoccupied with myself. I did not bother too much with others who are traveling with me. The reason is that I have been wondering about this new behavior of mine. Just like what Moonlight and the others said, this is not the usual behavior I usually show to others. The way my behavior shows in different situations makes me wonder why this behavior suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
'Is it somewhat related to my mana circuits? After the unlocking of the first locked mana circuits last time, this new personality of mine started appearing all of a sudden and caused me to get confused about the whole scenario. It's not that I am against what is going on but I am in a bit of preoccupied situation because the new personality of mine has a slight negative trait that even I do not like to have.'
Now I am wondering whether this trait of mine would be doubled once I unlock another mana circuit. If that will happen, I might as well have trouble with my own personality soon. I hope that this won't conflict with my own self or this trait might invade my own system in which I am afraid will happen in the future. But for now, that would not be the case since this is just a minor trait of mine and it doesn't appear too much.
"Kazuma? What's wrong? You seemed to be vacant for quite a while? Is something bothering you?" Moonlight asked me with a worried face.
"Oh, nothing. There is no problem at all. Don't worry too much okay?"
"Really? Are you sure?" Moonlight makes sure.
"Yeah, no worries."
After that, the group once again started walking more towards the elven camp. After a few hours of walking, we finally saw a few camps on the gap of the trees. Miya quickly made us crouch. Leto helped us by using some of the bushes as our cover for the area. It takes a bit of time before we managed to get a comfortable spot to hide on. As soon as we managed to hide, Catmod cast the skill "Oppositum Tumultus" so that our voice would not reveal our cover.
The elven camp looks similar to refugee camps in fantasy worlds. I expected houses on trees but they built tents instead made from animal skins.
"I thought elves use trees as their home and not animal skins because animals are sacred?" I looked at Miya.
"Our chief no longer believes that belief anymore because he believes that it would not help us survive in this severe environment where we could die anytime. That is why the remaining elves are not against eating meat and the use of animal skins to use. Instead, they are very open to it."
I nodded at her response. The elves shouldn't be picky anymore on what to eat. With their race on the brink of extinction, they have to do what they can to lessen the deaths of their kins and one of the first steps of that would be to abandon their beliefs against eating animals. And due to that, this is now the place of the elven camp.
"I never see so many elves before!" Catmod was amazed.
"Of course, because elves are almost rare people that are already treated as extinct race. Anyone would be surprised to see elves move around on a camp without any restrictions. And since this place should be hidden to the whole world, no one knows this place would house the people of the elf races that were once known as the protector of the forest."
"It's understandable, survival first before beliefs. If your beliefs don't save you, then abandon it and do what can help you survive. After all, survival of the fittest always occurs in every part of the Earth," Maple commented.
I observed the camp for quite a while. Although they are in tents, they don't really seem to be living in there. Most of the elves I envision wear green outfits but these people don't. And also, shouldn't the elves use bows and arrows as a weapon? I don't see Miya use one and she only uses her dagger. Well, it's not my role to press on. We are here to find out what the tribal chief is planning. And we have to get there and find out the plan.
"So what's the plan?" I looked at Catmod.
"I am not the strategist Kazuma. Let's have Moonlight and Miya do it. Don't look at me," Catmod said.
Leto, Maple, Miya, and Moonlight smirked. I sighed at Catmod's answer. He answered a ridiculous one.
Moonlight snap her fingers and a pen and bond paper appeared out of thin air and landed on Moonlight's hands.
"Please write the structure of the place, Miya-san. You are the most familiar with the place so we would be depending on your illustration as our map to infiltrate the place."
Miya nodded and grab the pen and bond paper. She started putting boxes and labeling them with the names of the places. The only problem is that the language she is using on the bond paper to label the places is odd and from my guess, should be the elven letters.
"Miya-san, I think we can't understand whatever letters you have written in there. We don't know how to read the letters you have written," I said to Miya.
Miya smiled and after a bit of second, she pointed again to the elven letters. For some reason, the elven letters suddenly turned to Japanese characters all of a sudden. But I am sure that the elven letters did not change. After quite a while, the whole paper are now filled with boxes and the layout is now more understandable.
"Let's get the plan started."
