The third day after his date with Annie he was watching TV while lazily lying on the couch, once again nothing interesting was being broadcasted he thought about going to university but that was even more useless to him than watching TV.

Finally he sat on the couch and checked where he could find a refuge for animals nearby. It didn't take him long before he found one near him, he got in the site and looked around for an hour what kind of dog he wanted. He left the cats aside as he wasn't particularly fond of them, he always thought that dogs were cuter and more friendly.
Since young he had wanted a Japanese Shiba inu but obviously he wouldn't find one here, he didn't find a shiba but found another one that attracted his attention.
A beautiful golden retriever puppy that hadn't been named yet. The older dogs were already given names but his puppy was only 2 months old. He clicked on it and was asked to print the number he was given before going to the shelter.
They didn't own a printer at home so he had to go to a store where he would do it, conveniently enough there was one right in front of his university. He sent that page to his mail address and headed toward his car, he drove to his university and parked in front of the store, lots of student that were going in and out of the university looked at him. This guy was the same age as them but drove a Porsche ? A rich second generation kid.
Of course that was the first thing they would think about, some people did the link between this guy and the guy that was on the talent show but most university student were too busy with their studies to spend a full 3 hours watching a talent show on a Friday night, if they had free time on Friday they would prefer going to a party than watching TV.
He didn't lose time, printed what he had to print and got back in the car to head toward the shelter, it was a 15 minutes drive away from home.
He arrived in front of a closed gate, of course he had checked their open hours today before coming so he knew that right now they should be working, he pressed the doorbell and the door on the side of the gate opened on its own. He got inside and looked for an reception desk, in the one story building in front of him he found a young woman around 25 years old sitting behind the desk playing on her cellphone, he went in front of her and said
"Hello ?"
She jumped a bit, she probably wasn't expecting anyone so she apologized
"Oh hello ! I'm sorry we don't usually have customers at this time of the day so I got bored..."
"Hahah don't worry about that, I came today to see this little boy."
He said while handing her the paper he had printed, every dog in the shelter was given a serial number and the golden retriever's one was written on this paper.
"Oh you come to adopt it ? Wait a second I have to check if it's still here."
She started clicking around with her mouse and seconds later she said with a smile
"You are very lucky, usually golden retrievers don't stay long, puppies especially. Follow me I'll take you to see him."
He followed her and they entered in a room full of cages, 2 people were busy moving around giving water and food to the dogs. When Sam got in the dogs became excited and started barking more, the room very soon became a cacophony, all the dogs were barking at the same time probably because they felt threatened by this person they had never seen, the people working there didn't seem bothered by it and kept doing their work, it must have been an habit by now.
In the corner of the room was a cage on the floor, inside it was a calm puppy, one of the few dogs that weren't barking, Sam sat in front of it when the girl signaled him that it was the one. He looked at the dog straight in the eyes and the dog stared back
"Can I take it out of the cage ?"
"Try to make contact with him through first."
She smiled, she had chosen this job because she was an animal lover, she had to take all the possible precautions for the dog's security and Sam understood it.
He placed his palm on the cage, first the dog didn't do anything and just kept staring at him, then it stood up and approached him, it smelled his hand a few times and finally put its paw on top of Sam's palm. A high five ! The puppy did a high five with him !
"How cute !!! I want to adopt it, please help me with the paperwork !"
Sam stood up excitedly, he was so happy he was given this mission by the system, he had already decided he would make this dog his best friend.
