The next day Sam sent Em to school and took the subway to university, he was starting to feel an urge to get his own car. One of his first things to buy except new clothes and a better computer was a car. He was still wearing his old saggy clothes as he didn't buy anything since the change of corpulence he had gotten from the 10 strength points.
On his back was a big guitar case and he was holding his backpack in his hand. He took his guitar to train a bit between classes as he always had a long time of boredom during the holes in his schedule. Soon the subway made it to the university station and lots of students got down there. Amongst them was Sophia, she had seen Sam and he had also seen here but none of them went to greet the other.
"Hey isn't it Sam !"
From behind him he heard a girl's voice, he turned around and realized it was Annie, Rika's big sister.
"Hey Annie, you get down here too ?"
"Yeah I study here, I didn't know you did too."
"Yeah forgot to mention it, by the way you didn't mention it too."
"Haha my bad."
"Does your brother study here too ?"
"No there is no medical section in this university and he want to be a doctor so he go to another one."
This scene didn't escape Sophia's eyes, she could hear them speaking but she saw very well how close they were walking and the way Annie looked at Sam, actually she was misunderstanding everything as she thought Annie was Sam's new girlfriend and Even though Annie had favorable feelings toward Sam she didn't look at him with these kind of feelings, that weird jealousy that was growing inside her made her misunderstand their relationship. The issue was that she couldn't do anything about it, she was the one who had left Sam for money so even if they really dated it had nothing to do with her anymore.
After entering the campus both Annie and Sam went in their respective direction, the morning classes went by in a flash and it was noontime, Sam had his own food he sat on the stairs in front of the football
(Author note : in France we call soccer football, so I'm speaking about a soccer field here.) field, a few dudes and girls were having fun there playing a unfair 3 versus 4 match but they had made a guy vs girls team so the 3 players team was actually dominating, the girls looked very clumsy with the ball but it was actually cute.
He still had 40 minutes after having eaten hit lunch so Sam took out his guitar and sang.
He first sang a very catchy song, Sugar by Francesco Yates. The sound of the guitar and his voice very soon traveled to all the people around him, they all got closer to hear him better and everybody was amazed. He was very good and was becoming even better with time passing, the skill books were good but he could still improve without them. At the moment he was somewhere around lvl 1 and a half singer maybe ?
Amongst the people watching him was Annie with a friend of her. She didn't expect Sam to know how to sing as he never mentioned it, actually Em had told it to Rika but the later didn't think it was an important detail.
Sam wasn't tired and sang another song after that one, very soon he had sang 5 songs but was too engrossed to realize he had been surrounded.
Annie came close and sat down next to him and started to sing with him, at the moment he was singing 'Islands In The Stream' by The Shires, it was originally a duet song but he sang only the male part and when Annie joined him she took the female part, he wasn't expecting this so he stopped playing the guitar for a second and looked at her. When he saw her smiling he did the same and started playing again and then they did the real duet. They sang perfectly, and their complicity was actually very good for a first time singing together, Annie's voice was smooth and appeasing while Sam's voice was deep and very energetic, it felt very different from the original but the result was impressive.
Finally they stopped singing and people started to leave, Sam and Annie were still seated next to each other.
"You actually can sing this well, I didn't expect it !"
It was both of them that said this at the same time, they stared at each other and then burst into laughter.
Sam felt very good dealing with this girl, he was a bit afraid of being betrayed since what happened with Sophia so he tried to avoid getting too close to another girl but he didn't feel the same way toward Annie, he felt naturally attracted to her. She was cheerful, kind and a very cute girl.
'It would be good if I could have her as my girlfriend, she's definitely better than Sophia but we know each other for a few days only, let's see how it happen for the moment... I don't even know if she already have a boyfriend.'
Both were seated and discussed various things for the rest of the time before class, they spoke about their youth, their siblings, their parents actually it was only her speaking about this as Sam didn't want to speak about his parents, even after 3 years it still hurt him. And then he told her about his YouTube channel and his plan to make money like this as he didn't find any suitable part time job.
"Really ? You do covers on YouTube, how about we record our duet and send it on your channel ? I've always wanted to get famous, this is my chance !"
She said while laughing but Sam felt it was actually a good idea, bringing a cute girl in would definitely attract more guys to his YouTube channel and even more when she sang this well.
"Yeah let's do it, how about this weekend ? We can go to the studio I recorded my first song to make it."
She wasn't expecting him to accept, she never had any singing lessons or anything like this, she just liked to sing so she sang but she felt like she was still a bit worse than him, not much.
"Of course lets do this this weekend, give me your phone."
Without thinking he gave her his phone, after a few manipulations and taking a selfie while pulling a weird face, she gave it back to him.
"I've added my phone number, there is even my picture on the contact profile so you can find me easily."
'She's actually very playful as well..."
Sam has added another quality to this girls list of qualities.
Right when they made the appointment to meet this week end Sam checked time and they were 5 minutes late for class, she didn't have anything to pack up so after mocking him she left very fast meanwhile he was packing his guitar the fastest he could.
Finally Sam made it in class, happily for him it was a class in an amphitheater so the teacher didn't even realize someone came in late but 2 people's had seen him going in, sitting in the front were Sophia and Eric. Both looked at Sam with different expressions. Sophia seemed angry and very soon looked away, in fact Sam didn't realize that she was angry as she had the same expression ever since they had joined university, ever since then he didn't see her smile even once.
Meanwhile Eric looked at him with a knowing smile, he and his girlfriend were walking in the campus earlier when they went past Sam and Annie singing together, they had stopped and watched for awhile until Sophia couldn't take it and left.
Sam saw that smile but didn't understand what it meant so he only nodded and went toward the middle of the amphi where he found a free seat.
Once again nothing happened during the afternoon classes. When all the students left, Sophia included, Eric went toward Sam and hugged his shoulder with one arm. From an outsider's perspective they looked just like best friends.
"I knew I have asked the right person to teach me, who was that cute Asian girl ? Your new girlfriend ? Man you don't lose time, you already got a new one This soon and she's at the same level as Sophia if not better. You have to teach me !"
"I already promised so I will help you but there really is no technique..."
