My name is Zhou Yiren, I work as a doctor, to be more specific, I'm an anaesthesiologist.

If you're wondering what I do, I administer either a general (make the patient unconscious) or local (make the body numb) anesthetic to the patient. During the surgery, the anesthesiologist will monitor the patient's blood pressure, heart rhythm, temperature, level of consciousness, and amount of oxygen in the blood.

We are the kind of physicians who deliver pain-relieving medications during surgical procedures and monitor patients' vital signs. In addition to working with patients in the operating room, anesthesiologists also provide pain relief services to people who suffer from chronic pain, during labor and delivery, and to patients in the intensive care unit. They work closely with surgeons and other physicians to formulate a treatment plan before, during, and after a surgical procedure. Standing for long periods of time during surgeries in a sterile environment is often required.

To summarize it up, an anaesthesiologist is required in ALL kinds of surgery. The surgeons need us.

We're talking about two very qualified individuals. The surgeon has very specific knowledge, qualifications and experience concerning the exact types of surgery they undertake. The anaesthetist/anaesthesiologist also has specific knowledge about the drugs they use but also has an amazing overall knowledge of human physiology, usually beyond that of a surgeon.

Why did I chose to be one? You see, it has a flexible schedule. Although attending anesthesiologists frequently work 12-hour days and are on in-house call for 24-hour shifts, they typically receive several weeks of paid vacation time per year and they aren't expected to be accessible on their days off.

One of the things that was appealing to me about anaesthesiologist was that when I was at the hospital I was at work and when I was on call, I was on call. But when I was not at work or on call, they weren't calling me.

Being an anaesthesiologist is not easy okay? The skills you'll need are a lot.

The following skills are important for this career: Reading comprehension (8/10), Active listening (7/10), Writing (6/10), Speaking (6/10), Mathematics (3/10), Science (7/10), Critical thinking (8/10), Active learning (4/10), Learning strategies (3/10), Monitoring/Observation (8/10).

I'm not good with math and I am more on memorization and observation so being an anaesthesiologist is a good thing for me.

That's enough of my job description. I don't think you're interested in it.

Right now, I'm on call. Being on call means that you stay in the hospital over night and care for the patients on your team and the other teams, and care for the new admissions. This means you will be working up to 30-36 hours with little or no sleep.

I value my sleep very much but I guess the lives of the patients are more important for me.

How do I keep myself awake? Reading books, playing my phone games and by eating. Although I do take some short naps, a short nap around 15-30 minutes is enough to make my brain go active again.

To be honest, I'm grateful that my love for books and games keep me awake all night long during my highschool and college days.

Whenever I buy a thick book, I can finish it within two days without blinking a sleep. Yes, that's how worse I am. You see, I have two motto in life. 'Finish what you started within 5 days and not more than that.'

Just so you know, I finished all seasons of Supernatural in five days during my last year of college, you should have seen how deep my eyebags were.

"Yiren."

I raised my head and saw Yun Shen, the first guy friend I ever had.

I can't believe a person this handsome has visited me. He's too bright and it makes my eyes hurt.

Everything about his physical appearance is perfect and I can't help but admire it.

He has raven black hair, his cheeks are chiseled like a finely-carved statue and his lips are slightly thin: the kind that end in a cute little smirk at the corners. His eyes are light brown like honey. His frame is so firm and perfectly fit as specales.

This guy is my boss. He's also my classmate in medschool. To be honest, he's the first guy friend I have, although I still have fifty percent trust issues towards him, he's a nice person.

Unlike me who has to work myself up in this position, this guy is a genius. I love his brain, oh how I wish he can share it with me.

The side of his lip curled up into a smirk. "Are you satisfied?"

I snapped out and frowned, he never fails to surprise me with that face of his. "I was hoping that you'll fade away if I continue staring."

"If it's going to be a staring contest, you know I can't win against you." He chuckled lightly.

"Good thing you know." I turned away from him and took my phone.

I heard him mumble something but I wasn't able to hear and understand any words. "If you want to say something, stop using an alien language."

"Lets go grab something to eat. My treat."

I turned my head to him and grinned, before I can say something, he interrupted me.

"But first, you should go fix that messy hair of yours and apply some makeup to conceal those dark bags under your eyes, you look like an old hag."

I pouted as I turned to him. "Well sorry for that, I was not born with a stunning face like yours."

This conversation was something normal between the two of us. He would always complain about my looks while I would complain about his good looks.

"Don't pout, you're not looking any cuter especially with that horrible appearance."

"Hey! Aren't you supposed to be a gentleman?!"

"I remember being a gentleman toward girls only tho."

"..."

And here he goes again, making me explode from my calm demeanor.

----

I woke up with a hearty yawn.

I might just have experienced the best sleep I've had in ages. It's been quite awhile since I've dreamt about the past, too.

Ah.. I couldn't believe that I dreamed about my boss.

I suddenly remembered how I met him..

It was in medschool, he was my classmate but we really never approached each other.

He's really popular with girls that's why after classes, he would disappear from the room.

One day, during the middle of the year, he sat down beside me and that's where he started making conversation with me.

Me being me, I would end all conversations politely, he was a guy and I don't really trust him that much especially because of his looks.

Ahh, now that I'm saying this, how did we ended up close? When did I considered him as friend?

Hmm.. Oh yeah.. That was actually when he saved me from a group of thugs.

Entering this game world made me realize that not all men are the same. I realized that Yun Shen was actually a good guy.

He's like Luke who would always listen whenever I complain about something.. Other than that, he teases like him. Their personalities are somewhat the same but I think that Yun Shen is meaner than Luke since Luke is still a gentleman towards me.

Luke doesn't call me 'old hag',  he doesn't say that I look horrible and he doesn't-- ah, wait. That's impossible for him to say since Violet is a pretty girl.

Anyway, where am I?

I blinked slowly, letting my eyes adjust to my surroundings in the dim light. I'm inside an unfamiliar room.

I was about to sit down, but a knock resounded throughout my room.

She offered a quick 'Excuse me,' as she entered my room.

Ah, it's Evelyn. "How are you feeling, Violet~?"

Um.. Is it just me or.. does she seem kinda scary right now?

"G.. Good.. I guess.."

She walked towards me with the scary smile on her face. "Violet."

I gulped upon seeing how close her face was to me since she leaned down on me with her hands on her waist. "Do you understand why you collapsed?"

I collapsed? Ah.. I remember now. I was healing the knights earlier right?

"I used too much magic I guess?"

"That's right! If you realized that, don't do that again! Using too much magic will cause you to collapse and if you keep doing it, it'll affect your life force! You'll whither away, do you understand?!!"

I remembered reading this from the books. I guess no matter how strong I am when it comes in healing, I still have a limit eh.

"ARE YOU LISTENING VIOLET?!!"

"Y-YES!"

This side of Evelyn is scary... She's more scary than Luke when she scolds me..

She sighed and sat down on the seat that was beside my bed.

"Anyway, as knights of this kingdom, we are prepared to face life and death situation. Any kind of dangerous situations that comes in front of us, we will face it. But you are invaluable as a healer, now that everyone here knows that you're a healer. It's a good thing that you're in disguise tho. If they knew that the daughter of Duke Trancy was a healer, you will automatically be married to the Prince the following day. I know how much you don't like being the fiance of the prince but you will not have any choice once they discover that you're a healer.

We can't endanger you while healing us since you are the second healer in this kingdom. As much I'm grateful that you healed my fellow knights, I can't help but get worried. Violet, even if there are so many lives at stake, you mustn't die.. I don't want you to die, Violet."

Evelyn..

Her words are really kind.. I never knew that she cared for me this much..

"I'm sorry for making you worry, Evelyn.. I promise to be careful next time. I will do my best not to worry you."

If Evelyn was a guy, I will definitely fall in love with him.
