I thought to myself as I harvest the wild mushrooms and lettuces. " looks like today's luck isn't as good, after 3 hours of hunting, I only gotten 3 chickens. Look like it's time to head back." I said to myself and headed back while humming Doraxmon's opening.
When I reached home, there is already a small crowd in front. "Ah Ren, you're here, it's only 3pm and I am already starving." one of my customers called Mr Huang that brought a chicken yesterday said.
"Alright, I'm going to prepare the ingredients. Please take a seat." I said as I took out a few chairs and put them outside. After everything is prepared, I took out the chickens and started the roasting process. Yesterday after working, I took out the electrical stove to explore. 1st I check how high can the temperature go, then I check the few buttons that were on it. The 1st button is normal stove mode. In this mode, the electrical stove acts as a normal stove. The 2nd button is Charcoal mode. In this mode, the top of the stove changes and you can put your charcoals on the top of the stove. The 3rd and last button is wood mood. In this mode, you can put any type of wood into the bottom of the stove and the smoke it produce will carry a hint of the wood you put in.
I shall ignore the charcoal mode 1st since I don't have any charcoal which is why when I was harvesting in the forest earlier in the afternoon, I brought a few pieces of don't burn me tree timber with me. It's called don't burn me because when the smoke it produces when burn attracts wild beast to attack. However to humans, the smoke carry a hint of plum.
I selected the 3rd button and threw in a few timbers. Soon smoke started spreading and the nearby people smelt it. "don't burn me?" Mr Wang asked as he raises his eyebrows. In this world, culinary is not as developed as Earth, thus they have never seen anyone cook this way before. "That's right." I said.
"Dad, is this the place you brought the chicken from yesterday?" Xiao Bing asked her father.
" How did you know? We are reaching soon." Xiao Lan Feng replied.
"I could smell it." said Xiao Bing as her eyes shines brightly.Xiao Lan Feng shook his head as he thought to himself " is my daughter a dog or a beggar in her previous life."
"Village head you are here" Mr Wang welcomes Xiao Lan Feng with a smile.
" Mr Wang, you're also here. When you head over to the main city with my daughter in a few more days, please take good care of her." Xiao Lan Feng said
"No worries, the daughter of my good friend is just like my daughter". Mr Wang replied. Even though they are calling each other formally, they were doing it sarcastically. The both of them grew up together in this village and while Lan Feng became the village head, Zhi Qiang (Mr Wang, because I decided to give him a name, not happy bite me) became a merchant and travels around. Every once in a while he would return to the village to rest.
As the two friends chat, the smell from the chicken became stronger. "Hey what are you doing??" Xiao Bing stares at the roasted chicken even though she was talking to me. "Please don't don't drip your saliva on the food." I said as I think to myself "this girl is going to be pain in this ass."
"Hey hey hey, I had one chicken yesterday, it was delicious ..... blah blah blah.." Xiao Bing continued talking for what seems to be forever to Ren.
"Finally, the chicken is done." I said with a smile. "The chicken." as if everyone became meerkats, everyone stood up straight and turned their head towards my voice. "There is only 3 chickens today so 1st come 1st serve." I shouted.
"Today I, Xiao Lan Feng is here to buy a chicken, I hope that everyone could give me face and let me buy 1st." Xiao Lan Feng said. Everyone's grind their teeth as they allowed Xiao Lan Feng to queue up 1st.
"Wow, Mr village head sure have a lot of authority." Wang Zhi Qiang said mockingly.
"Need me to help you get one chicken too my honorable sir?" Xiao Lan Feng said
"No need, watch me. Anyone can give me, Wang Zhi Qiang face and let me buy 1st?" Wang Zhi Qiang said with a face full of confidence.
"Screw off!", "Who are you?" all types of boos appeared. "Ehh..." Wang Zhi Qiang said as he scratch his head. "Gahahaha" Xiao Lan Feng laughed at his friends misfortune.
"Good bye" Xiao Bing shouted excitedly as she waves her hand to me. "What a kid." I muttered as I wave my hand back weakly back at her. Soon all of my food have sold finish.
"Everyone please listen, from tomorrow onwards, if anyone wants me to cook for them, feel free to bring the ingredients you want me to cook. The fee will be 1 silver." I said to the crowd.
