Hayley became curious after seeing her mother like this. She wanted to know the reason, so she approached her mother who was busy making their dinner and humming along. She called out for her mother. After hearing her voice her mother turned holding a spatula in her hand and smiling. Seeing Hayley standing in front of her, her smile widened and she said in rather cheerful tone " oh my lovely daughter! You are finally home. I have been waiting for you." After hearing her mother calling her my lovely daughter she understood that something rather too good happened to her mother today. Her mother grabbed her arm and guided her towards the dining table and make her sit on the chair and picked up a spoon and hand it over to her and then put a bowl of soup in front of her and said " drink it and tell me how it taste, is the amount of salt is alright or not." Hayley took the spoon and drink a mouthful of soup. Soup tasted delicious, as expected from her mother. She drank another mouthful of soup when her mother asked her rather impatiently " Well, how is it?" Then Hayley realized that she had to tell her mother about its taste and that if everything is fine with it or not. She blinked and smiled and told her mother" This dish tastes fine and the amount of salt you used is balanced ." After listening to her reply the cheerful smile on her mother face vanished and she huffed " What fine, fine won't do, I want each dish to be near perfection. She likes everything being perfect." Before Hayley can ask who like everything being perfect her mother beat her to that and said " you know she will point out every little detail about the dishes and mind you she is very choosy when it comes to eating food." Hayley frowned after hearing this she asked her mother " who is this person you are referring too." After hearing her daughter question Hayley's mother realized that she didn't told her daughter about what happened today when she visited her mother. Her mother took a seat beside Hayley and said in her cheerful tone again " You know today I visited your grandmother." Hayley nodded, yes she knew about that her mother told her before she left for work that she will be visiting her grandmother. After seeing her nod, her mother continued "Your grandmother gave me Sarah's mobile number, which she left with her when she came to visit mom a week back and I gave her call when I returned home and she said that she was waiting for my call and that she wanted to meet me , so I invited her to come here and have dinner with us today." Now Hayley realized that someone is coming over that is why her mother was in good mood but who was this lady? She asked her mother " Who is Sarah?"
A look of bewilderment cross her mother face after hearing this question and then she realized that she never talked about Sarah in front of Hayley. She cleared her throat and said " She is an old friend of mine or you can say the only best friend I have till this date." Hayley looked at her mother surprised, she knows every friend of her mother but she never heard Sarah's name and her mother even calling this woman her best friend. Hayley asked her mother " Ok if she is your best friend how come I never heard anything about her from you till this date."
Her mother has a forlorn expression on her face now, " we lost contact after she got married" her mother said. "oh" was all Hayley replied to her mother answer of her question that explains it, they lost contact and reconnect recently that was why she never heard of this woman name Sarah from her mother. " But you know her, you know." her mother said. Huh? I know her how is it possible, I don't know any woman name Sarah Hayley thought. Before she could voice her question her mother said " You know when you see her tonight."
