Chapter 11: the priest

Translator: Sigma  Editor: - -

After making up his mind, he went over his group of ceremony assistants to instruct them on some important matters, then took off his robe.

He started to use the refined chicken blood to paint spells on the dried-out corpses. He had painted these spells countless times, but this was the first time that he drew on a body. Therefore, he seemed to be a little clumsy. After discovering this point, he dolefully sighed. He regretted not being well prepared. He then assigned the ceremony assistants to come over to assist him.

These ceremony assistants were surprised when seeing this. They knew the use of these spells, but didn’t expect that such a matter would appear. But as they were taught in the church of fiends, the order from a superior to a subordinate was absolute, and unquestionable. Therefore, really quickly, behind the old priest, many scarlet spells were painted, and were formed into a bizarre formation.

When he tried to run the dark power in the formation once, he nodded in satisfaction.

“Have you remembered well everything I have entrusted all of you?” He asked.

The ceremony assistants constantly nodded their heads.

“Really good! When all of you pray to my Master, I will decide who will be my successor. My shallow wisdom is not enough to see the future clearly. But all of you have to remember well only when you devote your whole body and spirit to My Master, you are then able to overcome the death, and enter the true eternity!”

The scraggy old man laughed satisfactorily.

“You’ll see, I am the best example.”

After finishing talking, he turned his face to the shrine. His hands clutched the “Offering” wooden stick tightly, fiercely stabbing it into his chest.

The magic hardwood was as hard as steel. Its sharp tip was like a lance stabbing through one’s flesh, straight into the heart.

Fresh blood flowed out, soaked in the magic stick. The black stains turned into scarlet runes, which appeared in the air loop by loop. That was using magic to transcribe lines to make the evil god’s sacrificial hymn.

The old priest didn’t fall down after inflicting the fatal wound upon himself. But instead he was more and more energetic. It was as if he didn’t feel any pain at all. He smilingly spread his arms wide open, making a gesture of holding something.

He smiled happily, as brightly as the sun. This was truly an unbelievably miracle to the group of ceremony assistants, who had been used to his dark and gloomy look.

After that, his body rapidly withered. It seemed that he would turn into a piece of wood in a blink of an eye.

“My Master, I’ve finally returned to your kingdom...”

Along with the low whispering, a withered body, whose shape was almost completely destroyed, started to collapse from the top and turned into ashes. In just a short period of time, along with the sound of the wooden stick falling down to the ground, the old priest turned into a pile of ashes, and disappeared without a trace.

But the shrine in front of him, on the other hand, radiated a glaring light, as red as blood, as deep as the sea.

The oldest among the group of ceremony assistants took a deep breath, calmed herself, then went to the shrine, raised a scared emblem, closed her eyes reading the spells. The other ceremony assistants circled around the shrine and all chanted the spells.

The statue on the roof released a glaring light. The intense evil energy rose up, made the people shiver in fear and their limbs weaken.

Sui Xiong naturally paid attention to this energy immediately. He couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

Although he didn’t know what kind of toy “Kindhearted Camp”, “Sinister Camp” was, it was truly ‘persons who walk different paths cannot make plans together’. This evil energy was so mighty, which immediately made a kind-hearted person like him feel disgusted.

“These damned punks! They clearly have such powerful tricks yet they have hidden it all along...”

At heart, he was silently cautious of the fierce-looking statue a little bit. His people didn’t stop, and was constantly fighting with the great skeleton army.

But soon enough, he discovered that he had made a really big mistake.

The statue above him shot out a glaring red light. However, its target was not the skeletons, but was----him!

While the red light was firing out, Sui Xiong had already figured out its direction. He unconsciously dodged it. His energy was really enormous. His reaction was also very quick. But he had forgotten an important matter----at this moment, his body was non-human, just a jellyfish. With his human speed, he was quick enough to avoid that red light, but this jellyfish body was exceedingly huge. Even if he could run several meters in a flash, in the end he couldn’t make it, and was struck by the red beam.

After being hit by the red light, a bizarre endless power arrived, along with an imposing aura which made people tremble in fear. Following this energy, there was a chaotic and ferocious thought which could have made a thousand people get angry and shout loudly in the same place to make him kneel down on his knees to surrender.

Although he still had little knowledge about this world, his intuition told him that at this moment he absolutely couldn’t back down, otherwise he would be ‘doomed eternally’!

Sui Xiong’s intuition was right. The magic that had hit him was called “Slavery Art”, only an evil god could have the privilege to have this powerful magic. This magic’s limit was very big. The price was also extremely high. There must be a person who claimed to be a god outside of the scared place to display themselves. The price was also really huge. A filial priest had to be sacrificed to connect with the god kingdom and then borrow the god power to tame the target. But this magic’s power was also very big. The person who had gotten hit by it couldn’t resist the humongous pressure from the God Kingdom. Their spirit would be distorted. They would have then become a loyal servant to God.

To a powerful human being, this magic’s effect was not clear----weren’t all the powerhouses born from countless hardships? Was the path to become a powerhouse built with countless sweats and blood? Even though the God Kingdom’s power was mighty, those powerhouses’ wills were not ordinary either. The possibility of using this move to tame them was not high as well.

To those giant creatures that relied on their innate talents to grow up but lacked mental powers, this art was really powerful and irresistible.

Many evil gods were taught in the church to raise these giant creatures as their slaves and as their strong thugs.

The art that the White Leaf Village’s old priest wanted to launch was the ‘slavery art’. He wanted to use this to brain-wash the giant jellyfish and make him become his arms and legs.

As long as he could get these arms and legs, his church could use this violence to beat the other churches around and dominate the entire area.

Hence, he didn’t hesitate in sacrificing his own life. What a ruthless guy!

But his sacrifice was not wasted. Sui Xiong was in the biggest crisis since he had gotten hit.

The pressure from the evil god kingdom was so big that it made him dizzy. His spirit was shaking. Not only once did he have a thought of surrendering. But they were all turned down by him. However, every time he suppressed this thought of his, the next thought would definitely become more intense.

Inside his spirit world, a stormy sea was surging. He felt that he was like a small leaf boat, which could sink anytime due to the countless voices roaring out from the waves, telling him to surrender.

“I can’t keep on going like this!”

He was both scared and angry, unknowingly launching his life-saving move.

The magic stone inside his huge jellyfish body shook fiercely, released a glaring white light. His massive jellyfish body turned pale in a second, which made him look like a transparent gem. An exceptionally formidable dark power gushed out, transformed into a strong protective shield, blocking that exotic mind power. The dark power and god power crazily collided, sent out numerous sounds of explosions, which made the people frightened. Following the explosion sounds, there was an endless stream of icy air, which had filled up the surroundings in several miles in a blink. After that blink, no matter if it was flesh or skeletons or vegetation, or rock and steel, everything that had interacted with the icy air became frozen on the inside. Among them, more than half couldn’t make through this exceptionally freezing coldness. They would all turn into dust at the moment that the ice had melted away.

Those sounds, which were screaming crazily inside of Sui Xiong’s spirit, suddenly ended. The immense pressure rapidly weakened as well. Sui Xiong didn’t wait for it to disperse, he immediately growled, raised his power, and shattered away this pressure.

Untilnow, he was considered to be free. He looked around to see what had happened.

He saw a mournful scene.

The entire village and all the paddy fields, empty lands had already been frozen. Even the big part of the dense forest far away was frozen as well. The greenish white ice covered everything. There was not even a slightest hint of vitality. Although the red light from the statue on the roof of the stone house still fluttered as before, it was quickly getting weaker, a quick moment later, it had disappeared without a trace.

He was deep in his thoughts for a while, took back his ice energy, and put it inside the magic stone.

In just a while, the ice power he had consumed was up to three percent of the total number that he had stored for a long time.

This move was really effective. It turned the entire village into a deadly ground at once.

It was not only both the humans and animals that were wiped out, but the skeletons underground also couldn’t luckily escape. Right now, the moon had risen up in the sky, but there was no skeleton pouring out from the ground. Just a moment ago, they were still fighting intensely. But this moment, they all fell to the ground, turned into the remains, which were unable to move.

“This is completely different from... what I expected!”

Sui Xiong laughed painfully while lowering his head, his giant jellyfish body shook lightly. The ice energy was still hovering silently, and hadn’t completely been dispersed yet.

After a long time, when the sun shone brightly, he suddenly woke up, and strode towards the stone house.

His intuition told him that all the answers were in that place.

The village was not big. He just needed to take two or three steps to arrive in front of the stone house. His giant jellyfish body naturally couldn’t get through the narrow doors of the house. Hence, Sui Xiong chose to break down the doors.

He touched the roof, then used his force to slowly lift the solid roof off of the walls, and raised it up. All the eyes in the room were all on him.

Sui Xiong’s eyes turned over to the group of girls in black clothes on the ground, who lacked of vitality. He sighed, and then focused on the shrine above.

His intuitions told him the same thing, the main problem lied within the shrine.

He put the roof aside and stretched a tentacle out to touch the shrine.

Before he could put his hands on the shrine, a ferocious icy energy suddenly surged on, blocking him. This kind of energy was not different from the one that had wanted to enslave him, gloomy and cold, superior and unbeatable.

Sui Xiong harrumphed coldly, didn’t wait for that energy to act. An ice power was released all of sudden. This time, the covering range of the greenish white ice air was very small. It only covered the shrine.

While using the ice power to block that energy, a tentacle of Sui Xiong’s wrapped around the shrine, and pulled it up.

That energy was indignant when seeing that the shrine was seized. The sky, which had originally been sunny, was occupied with thick black clouds. The murderous energy covered the entire earth like a thick fog.

This fellow, who suddenly came out of nowhere, had a really mighty strength. He hadn’t officially struck yet but already made the sky and earth change color. His power was obviously not ordinary.

But Sui Xiong wasn’t scared. The ice power was condensing into a blade. His heart was full of rage. Since this wretched fellow had dared to find him, he needed to get stabbed to wake up!

Both sides were ready. A war could happen in anytime soon. But they hadn’t started yet; a golden lightning suddenly pierced through the sky, and broke black clouds into pieces. A laugh from an old man mysteriously and inexorably resounded from deep inside of that place.

The vicious cold energy at this moment was both terrified and scared. It definitely didn’t want to confront the two enemies at the same time and finally bitterly retreated. That warm and bold energy spread towards Sui Xiong, turned into a streak of golden light, falling above the ice power protective screen and was penetrating in.

This golden light contained endless vitality and melted away all of his fatigue. The originally heavy mood became lighter as well. All of his consumed dark power was filled up again one more time.

The golden light vanished in a second. There was just a bold and old voice resounding up above the sky.

Although he didn’t understand the language, it clearly had a certain message.

Goodwill and encouragement!
