Xelya gently walked towards the soldier's defenses while holding her staff close and tight.
She walks in a way how an innocent little girl would and this just increased the soldiers' doubt, confusion, and fear.
The soldiers couldn't understand why a little girl would come on a battlefield, and a battlefield is no place for a child.
However, judging from the prior event, this little girl is not normal, and looking at her ears are suspicious enough. This could indicate she's no human.
Xelya looked unto the soldiers.
Huh? They don't seem they want to attack. That's strange, aren't we their enemies?
Xelya thought.
Xelya was a bit confused in this. Normally if you see an enemy going to attack you, wouldn't you defend yourself?
Xelya closely looked unto the humans as she gently walked towards them.
She focused on their eyes in trying to understand them.
Are they afraid?
Xelya asked in her mind.
Xelya noticed this in their eyes as well as in their shaking.
Do I look that scary?
Xelya was not made to look like a monster rather as an enchanting being. She could not understand why. She also has not done anything for them to fear.
Xelya looked to her left and saw the two guardians stopped walking so she followed suit.
Xelya returned her sight to the humans.
Xelya pondered if is she's going to attack them now or not. After all, the order was to attack them, but her fellow guardians have not attacked yet so something must be wrong so she couldn't attack them yet.
The soldiers really looked at her with fear in their eyes with the silence all around and this bugged Xelya a bit.
Why are they not attacking? I heard from Mister Sagremor even when in fear, soldiers and warriors will still fight for the sake of what they are fighting for. But why aren't they?
Xelya thought.
Xelya couldn't understand these soldiers, however, they were ordered to attack so she will engage the enemy. But she waited for her fellow guardians to attack first because something might be wrong.
Are they waiting for the humans to attack?
Xelya asked in her mind.
Then suddenly a loud familiar voice rang out.
"Aren't you supposed to be soldiers? Then be one, fight the enemy right in front of you, be the warrior you that you are, or is it that you people chose to be cowards instead? Then there's no point in you for being soldiers. You have no place to go, no escape, so there's no choice but to fight!"
Xelya looked to the source of the sound and realized it came from Sagremor.
Xelya processed Sagremor's words and that does make sense. There is no point in not doing anything when you know there's only one choice left – to fight.
Then she heard something in the ranks of the soldiers.
"Soldiers! Muster some courage, the courage to defend our home, the courage to bring peace to us once again. Do not let fear consume you! The enemies are in front of us, which means we can shoot them. Do not let them do what they want! Our peaceful lives will return when they are gone, so soldiers, fight until your last breath, do not lose hope! Fight for your friends and family!"
After that, it was followed by shouts from the soldiers.
"HOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!"
"WE WILL NOT GIVE UP!"
"WE'LL FIGHT FOR OUR FAMILY AND OUR HOMETOWN!"
Then more words and sentences shouted.
Xelya looked unto the soldiers, they seemed to be better than before and looked more energetic.
Thank goodness, this is much better.
She said in her mind.
This kind of action is what it supposed to be. This kind of actions feels right than prior.
This eased Xelya's heart for this is what she expected them to do and not the one that they are all quiet and looking at her with fear, the way they are acting now feels right and befitting of what she heard on how soldiers should be.
Because of this Xelya smiled behind her mask feeling relieved.
Then after a few moments, the soldiers began to prepare themselves and started aiming at Xelya.
After that, she heard something in the soldiers' ranks.
"FIRE!"
The soldiers pulled the trigger of their guns, bullet and magic particles flew all around hitting their targets. However, something strange happened. Xelya was not hit by anything – or to be exact, the soldiers didn't shoot towards her at all.
Xelya was puzzled because of this, still she decided to move forward in hopes the soldiers will attack her if she gets closer.
But even after several footsteps the soldiers were still looking at her with no intention to shoot, confused she asked them.
"A-ah excuse me, soldiers. Why are you not shooting me, everyone else are being attacked but not me, it makes me feel uneasy."
When the soldiers heard Xelya and the way she talked, they got enchanted of the soothing and soft voice.
It sounded too innocent just like a very young girl would talk. For a moment the soldiers felt relaxed after all that just happened.
The soldiers could imagine that the girl will be a very beautiful lady when she grows up. They even thought she might already be beautiful or adorable behind the mask.
The way Xelya interacts and talked to the soldiers, the soldiers felt like they couldn't shoot her. How could anyone do anything violent to a young girl, they couldn't even think of doing anything violent in front of her.
Everything about her was just so innocent and gentle which could judge that she poses no threat at all.
However, the fact that she had long pointed ears could point out that she is no human being. This only increased the soldiers' anxiety while feeling they couldn't shoot this innocent little girl.
She may be an enemy and a threat to the soldier's lives, but they still couldn't bring it to decide to shoot her down. Just thinking of shooting her down is just like shooting a little human girl.
As her question remained unanswered, Xelya decided to press onward.
When she got closer near the sandbags, the soldiers began to tremble a bit, having an urge to shoot her, but they couldn't, she's just too innocent.
"Those are in the way." Xelya said.
There were sandbags a few meters away from her and are blocking her way towards the soldiers so she will need to use her abilities.
The swing her staff forward and with that, a strange feeling of like a wind flew by – it's not literally a wind but a wave of magic flowing towards the defenses and in an instant it reached the defenses.
When the flow of magic hit the defenses, a big explosion occurred.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The explosion was big, because of that several soldiers were blown into nothing, and the ones lucky enough that were not inside the explosion survived, however, they suffered a worse fate. Parts of their bodies were nowhere to be found and blood spilling. Soldiers fatally wounded, some missing some limbs, and some were dying.
There was a commotion among the soldiers' ranks.
They couldn't believe what they had just seen.
A huge explosion just came out of nowhere, and mostly it was caused by a little girl?
It just greatly increased the soldiers' anxiety.
"Oh no! I used too much force unto it. Looks like I still need to hold back even more."
This is quite difficult for Xelya to adjust. She just has too much firepower even for just a swing of her staff, if she doesn't control her power more, she might cause something wrong. She has to reduce her magic output a lot just to avoid any possible accident.
One of the ways to reduce damage is to get close to the enemy. That is why she's walking closer to the enemy.
As she was about to take a step, a tank opened fire at Xelya hitting her. Of course, that did no damage to her.
The explosion from the tank's attack produced smoke and it caused to cover the sights of Xelya. At this point, Xelya got little worried for she can't see anything around her, so in order to get rid of the smoke, she swiftly swung her staff to blow the smoke away, of course, she didn't use magic so she caused no explosion whatsoever.
After that, she looked to the tank which attacked her and blocked her sight. To stop the tank from attacking her again, she pointed the top edge of her staff towards the tank and in an instant, the armored vehicle exploded obliterating it completely, it was only a small explosion just enough to consume the entire tank so the explosion did not damage a large part of the land.
With the path is now clear with no longer any obstacle to block the way, she continued onward and got past the defenses.
When the soldiers saw her, they had second thoughts whether they would attack her or not, but after a few moments, some soldiers chose the former.
"Argh dammit! We have no choice! Everyone attack!"
The soldiers also started shooting following the soldier's words, of course, some still resisted the urge to shoot because their conscience got the better of them.
However, Xelya was unharmed by the attacks.
"It's good to see you fight. This time it felt right. As I was ordered to attack you, I will follow the command."
Xelya turned to her right and walked towards some soldiers, of course seeing Xelya walking towards them, the soldiers shakily stepped back trying to get a distance from her.
However, with the soldiers feeling great fear, their body began to stiff and could only take a short step back, as a result, Xelya got nearer the soldiers.
When she was now close enough to the soldiers, she pointed her staff to them.
In an instant, there was an explosion. The ones that were closer to the center were completely vaporized leaving to evidence of their existence. The ones that were lucky enough to not be near the center were caught up in the outer explosion, and their limbs flew away and some got fatally wounded. The soldiers wailed in agony as their limbs were gone and blood spilling around.
Of course the explosion this time was weaker than before.
"DAMN YOU MONSTER!"
A soldier shouted from behind Xelya while shooting her with some of his allies to help in shooting against Xelya.
Hearing that, Xelya turned around to face the one who shouted.
"M-Monster? I don't like being called a monster." She moved her staff closer to her while pressing her face on the staff then she lowered her head. "The Lord never said I was a monster, he called me cute… I don't like being called a monster."
She held her staff more tightly than before.
I don't like it… It hurts to hear that.
Xelya thought.
At this point, she started to feel angry as her power began to charge up.
No… I must control my power.

She must control her power to the minimum, if not she might destroy this entire town.

Then in an instant multiple explosions came out of nowhere wiping out every soldier and matter in the area of explosions leaving no evidence of their existence.

Then she began waving her staff around and there were explosions all around wiping out anything it touches.
