Altair's rampaging emotions continued to surge within her after being injected with something. Her mind had stopped working though and she couldn't utter even a sound as she lay limply on the sofa. Her vision blurred and swirled in a bizarre mix of colors as he eyes darted around in her head.

Time seemed to speed by for her as she gazed dazedly ahead of her. There was a table there before but now it looked like a strange snake that was ready to jump forward in the next second. Due to its size Altair was mentally bracing herself constantly, afraid that the moment she relaxed it would strike out at her.

Despite being on edge about the massive reptile before her, Altair felt unbelievably good. It was better than the times she was relaxing in a nice hot bath, better than when she ate that pie. It was hard to put into words other than she had never felt such a constant and pleasant feeling before.

She sat there for what seemed like days, or maybe it was months, it was hard to tell.

And then it felt like her body was trying to hold up existence itself.

He coughed violently as her vision returned to normal and her emotions abruptly died in her chest. Her entire body shook as she felt like she had just crawled out of being buried in snow while completely naked.

She groaned in pain loudly and found that her head was hanging off the sofa and a bucket was below her. Her throat burned from all the shouting she had done earlier. The bucket had a few pieces of scrap paper in it and, before Altair could push herself up to move, she hurled loudly. The only thing that came up were stomach juices and it further irritated her throat but, before she could complain about that she hurled again and more green liquid spewed from her mouth.

Renald frowned at her before he grabbed a glass of water that was on the table and roughly lifted Altair's hair. He then forced her to drink the water so that she couldn't keep spewing bile. He had prepared that glass of water when he realized that the cocktail of drugs Altair had been fed in such a short amount of time were having a very different effect than he thought they would.

She had gotten so high that she couldn't even see him when he was standing before her.

Knowing that when the suppressant fully kicked it her body would react violently. Since the suppressant would also completely kill her high and try to expel any drugs that she had taken he knew that she was going to throw up. He also knew it would be easier on her if she had some water nearby to help alleviate the symptoms. He didn't know that she hadn't even had breakfast yet.

Altair got three gulps of water in before she hurled back into the cup that was in her face. The cup wasn't able to hold it all and a mixture of water and stomach bile splashed onto her face and down Renald's arm.

Renald frowned at this. He wished he had also summoned Donel at the same time he asked for water to be delivered. Still, there was no helping it now. He dumped the rest of the water into his office trash bin that was below Altair before he went to refill the glass with more water. He heard Altair dry heave again, only coming up with a small amount of bile this time, before he turned back around and forced more water down her throat.

They repeated this process for several minutes before the pitcher was nearly empty. At that point Altair's body stopped trying to expel her stomach and she lay on the sofa limply. If she wasn't breathing she would have looked like a corpse.

Her face and body were deathly pale and she was drenched in sweat. She felt so miserable that she wished she didn't want to move, not that she could really move anyway, and she desperately wanted to sleep. Combined with the pain that was still there from earlier in the morning, Altair had never felt this bad before. Her mind felt sluggish and she couldn't feel any emotion at all. Her heart was completely calm and the turbulent emotions she felt earlier seemed like a dream to her now.

Renald's words, which should have aggravated her, didn't stir up any emotion at all, "Are you done now?"

Altair's breathing was mostly stable as she spoke in a hoarse voice, "I guess."

Renald nodded, "Good." He then stood up and took off his stained suit jacket before tossing it on the other sofa. He then made his way back to his desk and sat down heavily in his chair before he asked, "Tell me about this curse that's going to kill you now. How long do you have?"

Altair turned her head to look at him. She examined him for a few moments in silence before she emotionlessly asked, "What did you do to me? Why can't I feel anything?"

"I gave you a suppressant." He spoke as if it wasn't a big deal at all. "It will prevent you from feeling any of your emotions for a time. This way we can actually have a conversation instead of you just shouting the entire time."

Altair gulped some saliva down her throat and it immediately burned. She grimaced from the feeling before saying. 'I… What came over me?' She thought to herself. She couldn't really remember much after Renald had stood up. She just remembered how she felt, which stirred nothing within her at the moment.

"I have six months before I die," Altair finally said after several moments of silence, "unless I get back home and help my people."

Renald frowned at her, "How convenient that it requires you to go home." He wasn't fully convinced of her words. By now he was sure that her outburst earlier was induced by something that Sarah had done. So he couldn't judge her words based on her emotional state at all. "Did you forget our deal?"

Altair frowned at him, "Doesn't matter to me if I die before you get any benefits." She didn't really have a choice in the matter so why should she care? She was just stating facts for him. It was up to him on what he would do from here.

He crossed his arms before saying, "Assuming it's true. Rain gives you more Mana? How is that even a thing?"

Altair would have shrugged but she couldn't motivate herself enough to do so. Thus, she flatly replied, "I don't know. That imposter was the one who brought it to my attention. Your rain seems to be similar to a thing we call Manamium. It increases my Mana capacity just by touching it."

Renald nodded in understanding, "I see." He sat in silence for a while as he thought things through on his end.

'If she wants to go home I won't really be able to stop her if she gets too much power. She'll be able to run away immediately upon being able to teleport.'

His thoughts went towards the future and how he could keep their deal alive even when she was able to run like that. He immediately thought of the Blood Oath but he wasn't sure if it would take effect on someone who didn't have a Spiritual Self.

'I don't really have any other options though. If it fails then it can't be helped. It's the only real way to leash her that I have.'

"Well then," he started as he looked down at her with a passive gaze, "I can't really leave you as weak as you are now. I also figured that there would probably come a time when you would be able to teleport away from me. So I came up with a backup plan for that."

He pointed at her unceremoniously and continued, "You will take a Blood Oath."

Altair's brow rose slightly, "What's that supposed to be?"

He lowered his hand before he replied, "A Blood Oath is basically a contract. Two parties sign a contract and neither party can break it willingly or they will die. Of course, I have no idea if it will work with someone who doesn't have a Spiritual Self but there are no other options at this point."

Altair didn't feel anything towards his words. She didn't even feel suspicion. She merely asked, "What happens if it doesn't work?"

Renald shrugged his shoulders, "No idea. It's never not worked before. I suppose it will be a new experience for both of us."

Altair's eyes felt heavy as she sighed and said, "I'm tired. Can we do this later?"

Renald grinned at her, "Of course we'll do it later. I will also start collecting some rain water for you. It should be ready in five months as there's a lot of prep work to be done." He pushed a button on his desk before he paused briefly. He thought about her outburst earlier and hesitated to pull his hand from the call button to send the signal.

Eventually he said, "Focus on your studies for now. It will keep our mind occupied and you won't think about useless things."

He then took his finger off the button and the door to the office opened a moment later.

Dave entered the room and gave Renald a respectful bow before Renald shook his hand dismissively and said, "Return Aria to her room. Make sure her personal servants are ready to serve her and get her some breakfast. Let her rest today and have the tutors on standby for when she wakes up."

Dave showed no reaction except for replying, "As you will." He then walked over, picked up Altair's limp body, and left the room.
