Ryder's expressions couldn't help but distort as soon as he heard Janus' words.
"You! Do you think we are in a game? How can I kill a real human being! I'm not a monster! And why do you wish to harm Alice!"
Ryder roared in anger as he opened his eyes abruptly.
[Mission has already been issued. It can't be changed.]
Janus said in an emotionless tone.
"He...is he serious?"
Ryder started frowning as he fell in deep thought.
"Janus can reverse time, so I don't think that anything is impossible for him. I can't let Alice die, but killing? I'm not capable of it either. I haven't even killed an animal, how can I kill a real human being? what should I do?"
His head was aching as he thought about everything. He wanted to cry. His headache kept increasing. He could feel his heartbeat getting faster and faster.
"Can we negotiate? Change the mission into anything else? I'll do any other mission!"
He started requesting Janus.
[Mission has been issued. It can't be changed.]
Janus repeated the same answer.
'What should I do? I have no choice but to k-kill,'
He felt like vomiting at the simple thought of killing. Even the simple notion of killing a human was scary for him.

Reward: 10 purchase points and a low level strengthening pill.
Punishment for failure: Full body Paralysis for two days. You will be unable to move for two days.

'He's seriously trying to get me killed, isn't he? Why do I feel that Janus is even worse than Maya?'
'My choices are to either kiss her or get paralyzed for two days? If I got paralyzed for two days, I wouldn't be able to complete the main mission even if I wanted to, and Alice would die. You're not giving me any other path, but the one that you want me to choose!"
"I don't have much time to think. The time limit is only 20 minutes. I can't take the risk of getting paralyzed, or I won't be able to save Alice." Ryder said.
He stood up with a determined look on his face. His head was still aching, but he didn't care. He hurriedly left his room and walked towards Alice's room.
"Alice!" He called out as he knocked on the door of her room.
Alice opened the door.
"Yes, brother?" She asked.
"I'm sorry for what I'm about to do next, but I don't have a choice," Ryder said in a guilty tone.
He took a step forward and placed his hand on her back. He pulled her closer and kissed her. His lips touched her lips. Her eyes were wide open in shock.
As soon as Ryder kissed Alice, he found himself in a different place. A girl was standing before him, who looked similar to Alice, but she seemed older. She was wearing a beautiful green and a crown on her head.
"They will kill you if you don't stop!" the girl told Ryder with tears in her eyes. Right at that moment, Ryder found himself back. His lips were still touching Alice's lips.
Ryder released her immediately as soon as he came back to her senses and took a step back. He ignored the vision he had as he was in much serious trouble right now. Alice just stood there with a blank look on her face for quite some time.
What he didn't realize was that Janus' mission didn't specify that he had to kiss on lips, and with the name of a kiss, the only thought that came to his mind was the kiss on lips. That's what the word had come to mean after so many years. No one called kissing in cheeks and forehead as kiss as a different word had been decided for them many years ago to decrease the confusion. Still, if he had realized the possibility, he might have escaped this conundrum or at least tried.
"Y-you pervert!" She said as she pushed Ryder back and shut the door on his face.
"Alice, listen to me! I didn't have a choice. It's all because of J...aaaa"
Ryder was trying to explain to Alice as he didn't want to be misunderstood. As soon as he tried talking about Janus, a powerful shock coursed through his body.
Alice heard his scream, and hurriedly opened the door. She ran to him in a hurry with a worried look on her face. Ryder was lying on the ground. She supported his head on her lap.
"Are you alright, brother?"
[Host can't talk about the existence of Janus and anything related to it.]
Janus' voice again appeared out of nowhere.
"I am fine. Don't worry about me. I'm really sorry for how I behaved, though. I promise I won't repeat such a mistake."
Ryder used this opportunity to apologize to Alice.
'She's a really nice girl. Even after everything that has happened, she still came out to help me after hearing my scream.' A gentle smile appeared on his face as he looked at Alice.
"I...I don't know why you did it, but I think that you must have a reason for doing so. Still... please don't do anything like that ever again." Alice said in an annoyed tone as she glared at Ryder.
"At least not like this," She muttered, but Ryder wasn't able to hear her this time.
There was still some displeasure evident in her voice, but she seemed to have calmed down a lot.
"Yeah. I made a mistake. I would never do it again." Ryder told Alice with an apologetic look on his face.
He was just about to stand up when the voice of hell's envoy again appeared in his head.
