Dominion’s End

The red meteor shower rained across the sky, a black fog engulfed the world.
After waking from a night of torture and agony,
Humans discovered they no longer dominated the world.
—The hunters have become the hunted.

After the apocalypse, I struggled for survival for ten bitter years, but ultimately couldn’t escape death.
But when I opened my eyes again, I had transformed from an ordinary 35-year old woman into a beautiful young man of 18.
A different gender, a world that is both familiar yet not, an apocalypse that has vanished without a trace, and an unexpected return of 17 years of youth.
Looking around, I discovered I had a powerful, protective big brother and a gentle, charming little sister.
Just as things couldn’t possibly look any brighter—
The end of the world came crashing down again.

And this time around, is it fight? Or flight?

This novel didn’t end. I’ve been able to find English translated chapters not yet avialable on this site with a quick search. Anyway, I binged everything avialable and had a hell of a good time.  The protaganist’a narration is entertaining and full of personality. The premise is not only unique but actually well executed. This story keeps you guessing and doesn’t rest for long. New concepts and rules of the apocolypse are continually introduced to shake things up. Though survival takes center stage, the protagonist’so identity issues are not forgotten, and multiple answers to how she found herself in this situation are teased, seemingly confirmed, then challenged again, which kept me engaged. When it got focus, I found how they handled the 35 year old woman in a teenage boy’s body thing quite well… other than (spoiler) what looks to be the actual explanation. That aside, there’s plenty of highly interesting and unexpected developments that I didn’t sign up for, but that I stayed for. When I did predict somthing, it was rewarding. A highlight of this series is the Jiang family. Families that are badass together have always been a weakness of mine, and I loved the Jiang family’s dynamic- I never expected to care for them so deeply. As individuals and as a unit, they are endearing characters. Especially Xiaotian. I’ve always found people with that impressive of an aura in real life to be almost impossible to put into words, so props to this novel for doing such a good job. This story is a mix bag of stuff that’s weird enough to be featured in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and cold hard slaps of heartwrenchong reality. The fact that this doesn’t have a higher rating boggles my mind.

This story really gave a new perspective on Yu Wo’s works. Personally I thought her stories were all filled with funny and happy-go-lucky stories, but that is not completely true. This story has the perfect mix of humor, heart-warming, and adrenaline. I recommend giving this story a try. Watch as Shuyu impress you with shameless habits and kick-ass skills.
