The group of 14 were running hurriedly to the forest entrance. The shrieking and rumbles from hundreds of mutated monkeys could be heard so close behind them. Finally, the group managed to pass the gates, none were left behind. After the ticketing booth place on the gates, the group reached the gathering area covered by clay paving bricks. Unfortunately, the constant screaming from behind made Cindy anxious. She stumbled and fell.
Everyone in the group was a peak Mortal Realm expert, all could run even faster than Usain Bolt, but among them, Cindy's the slowest. She's the only woman who's not a spirit enhancer. She was the last to reach the gate, but now with the fall, she was in such a big problem.
"Seriously, a peak mortal realm, died because of a misstep?"
Alex was bewildered... He turned around and saw the sea of apes enclosing Cindy just a few meters behind. Alex quickly grabbed and carried her in one of his arms, and used the other arm to slash the closest monkey...

"You came back for me....." Cindy's eyes were glimmering with gratitude.

One of the bigger sized monkey charged at them... Alex took a big breath, used the breathing techniques and used the monkey's body as a footing to jump back to the group.
More mutated monkeys jumped out of the forest, they didn't even look around and kept chasing the group. After the paving area, next is the parking lot. Alex and the group hopped between the abandoned cars and continued to the main road, the group halted in front of the rows of the two stories shops. Next to them were the four APVs placed strategically facing the forest gate. This was the spot, the group turned around and saw hundreds of these monsters closing in. Wave after wave of monkeys jumped out of the forest to the fields. The distance between the gate to the shop's windows is about 200 meters
The War of the Apes was about to start.
Alex, the golem and the 13 peak experts, waited outside. The 30 special forces squad, except the one operating the APV, had their weapons ready from the two stories window of several shops, everyone was standing by.
Before the battle started, Alex planned to thin up these hundreds of monkeys... for these, the special force already prepared a proximity mine all around the paving area in front of the gates...
"Hold, steady.... we need to drag more monkeys out of the forest."
Alex looked around and saw in front of him the hundreds of ferocious monkeys, his group turned nervous... Alex suddenly said...
"What do you call a monkey in a minefield?"
The group was startled, hearing Alex trying to make jokes in such a situation... he just smiled and took out a proximity switch just before he pressed it, he said...
"A Baboom! Do you get it? hahaha"
KLICK!
KAABOOOMM!!... KAABOOOMM!!... KAABOOOMM!!... KAABOOOMM!!...
It were multiple small explosions, a dozen of them. At least a few dozen apes died from the explosions, even more, were injured or incapacitated. The explosion took down at least one hundred of them, it also separated the hundreds of monkeys at the front with the hundreds at the back.
The monkeys in the front looked shocked by the explosion, their advancement suddenly stopped, while they were looking at their back...
"This is It!!... OPEN FIRE!!"
DRATATATATATTATAT... DRATATATATATTATAT... DRATATATATATTATAT...
Half a dozen snipers with .308 bullets and dozens of AK47 with 7.62mm cartridges. Both of these weapons had enough firepower to penetrate the mutated monkey bodies.
But, of course, the main course was the 12.7mm Machine Gun installed on top of the Armoured Personnel Vehicles.

Four APVs, four machine guns blazing through the seas of mutated monkeys. The 12.7×108mm can be used to engage a wide variety of targets on the battlefield, it can destroy unarmored vehicles, and penetrate lightly armored vehicles. The mutated monkeys couldn't resist such bullets, their bodies were torn apart.
It took a few seconds before the mutated monkeys realized the situation and decided to group up and jump onto the APVs. But this was what Alex's group stood in front of the buildings for. They stopped and killed all the apes that closed in on the vehicles.
BANG!! BANG!! BANG!!
Aria had joined the group of half a dozen sniper, shooting from the windows of the buildings. Every shot was a critical one for her. She changed her bullets to the bigger sized 50.cal cartridges. It's much heavier and has huge recoil, it's not suitable for women and also would decrease accuracy by a lot. But this didn't apply to Aria... One bullet... One headshot...
The rest of the group separated to guard the four APVs.
The twins and Rama were guarding one, Sergei with the two spear masters, Darius with the other two. Jerry, Cindy, and Theo guarded the last one. Alex and the golem switched places to support the ones in trouble.
It was a solid plan, but there are just too many of them. More monkeys jumped out of the forest, it seemed endless... Alex regretted that he didn't bring more soldier with him. Two or three more squads would have been perfect.
After a few minutes, the group started to get pushed back... Cindy was just randomly splashing her whip. It was effective, but she won't kill any apes with these moves. Theo surprisingly started to get used to using the pickaxe, it really was one of the most effective weapons for a beginner. In this group, still, Jerry was the main powerhouse. He was slowly able to sense a mysterious power within his slashes. It seemed as if his knives had gradually turned sharper with each attack.
Darius broke another saber and started to fight by bashing his steel shield. This group's APV was parked in the corner, it got the most pressure. One of the spear masters broke his spear and got thrown out to the back. When the defense broke, another one quickly got bitten, blood splashed everywhere...
ARRRGHHH!!!
"Get Down!!"
Darius shouted and threw his shield full power and cut off the monkey's head... Darius just saved his life... but when they both got up, several other mutated monkeys were already on top of the APV.
"Abandon the vehicles!" Alex said
The two soldiers inside, ran out of the APV's back door guns blazing with an assault rifle. They moved inside one of the buildings... The monkeys broke the machine guns on top of the APV.
Alex was upset seeing the ransacked APV, but at least his men were safe. The golem saved Darius and the other two and they all were guarding in front of one of the building's door...
Before he lost all of the APVs, Alex ordered to fire the grenade launchers attach in the APV...

The mutated monkey suddenly turned panicked and scared, they slowly turned their heads to their back...

Alex could hear the sound of trees falling... Something big came from the forest
"We should leave, leave! Now!! Fuxxx we won't make it"
The group instinctively sensed something from deep within the forest, he saw three pairs of big yellow eyes staring from the shadow of the forest...

Three huge green scaled skin creatures were slithering out from the forest... All three creatures were stage two mutated beast...
