Not even all the money, women in the world satisfied him. But once he met Terashima Lila, that changed. When he met that girl, he slowly started to find a purpose.
The older man seemed surprised with his words and for the next few minutes said nothing.
"What did you just ask me?"
Soichiro lips curve to a smile, "You heard me."
"Now I believe you misunderstood. Haruka-kun is working under me out of his own free will…"
Soichiro slammed the briefcase in front of the man, documents scattered everywhere, "Nice try. I did my research. So? How did it feel setting up a situation where the guy had no choice but to turn to you for help? Honestly, I'm amazed when I read this. I don't want to increase my rival count, and Austin Kiryu was bad enough. However, I don't tolerate such dirty methods." His gaze filled with contempt and loathing.
To think from the very start, this man planned everything -- no. "Who ordered you? There must be somebody else behind it?"
It can't be his brother; he can't plan something of this magnitude. Seeing the older man face break into a sweat, Soichiro sighed. This guy is useless; he's just a pawn.
"I'm not an unreasonable man; let's talk conditions."
"...Even if you ask, I do not have the power to set him free." Kimura spoke up.
"Oh?"
"Karashima-kun signed a contract with us out of his own violation. Even if I were to tell him to leave, he wouldn't stop following his mission until the end."
Soichiro's gaze darkened and a cold atmosphere filled the room. His gaze sent shivers down Kimura spine, and Soichiro knew this. "Seduce Terashima Lila and get her pregnant right?" Soichiro said. Just saying those words made him sick.
"...That man wants the child of a hanyou pure breed. I do not know for what for, but you can imagine the damage it will cause."
Soichiro clenched his fist. He already knew this. He found out a long time ago. But hearing it from another person makes him angrier.
"Tell me, did Karashima agree to this?" Soichiro asked. During his investigation on the matter, that was the one thing he could never figure out.
"He did not! I'm not lying. There's surveillance footage of the day we asked. He refused." Kimura said.
The older man turned to his guards, and they scurried out of the room, not long after they returned with a video. They didn't bother handing it to him directly and merely put it inside the video player. Soichiro watched the contents while not letting go of the older man's neck. He could tell from a distance that they didn't fake the video.
So Karashima likes her that much huh? His joining may have more to do with protecting Lila.
"The incidences that have happened?" Soichiro asked.
"We did have some part to it, but it was not completely us."
"Which cases did you get involved in?"
"T-there's documents …"
Soichiro let go of him, and the man coughed. He turned to the filing cabinet and walked over. While it was locked, he was able to open it with a single tap of his finger.
...His gaze doomed when he saw the long list in Lila's file. A whole year worth, no even more than that. How many years did they spend trying to gain their hands on her? The consequences only appeared last year.
But Soichiro understood, to bypass the Terashima and Austin family. They must have planned this for a very long time. Karashima must have known about this, and that's why he joined this man's side. The other bate aside. Karashima's main reason must be so he could protect Lila.
Soichiro has to admit, that Karashima's actions were praiseworthy. Praiseworthy huh? Is he stupid? Another person who genuinely loves Lila. But unlike Austin Kiryu, he's more bothered by this one. Is it because he understands? Understands that Lila treats this man differently? Hey Lila, explain it to him. Why is Karashima Haruka different than all the other guys out there?
seemed puzzled at his sudden silence, but Soichiro didn't bother explaining.

After a short while, Soichiro left the building deep in thought and took out his phone. He called Lila.
After a few minutes, she picked up.
"Yes?" The girl's tone was cold and indifferent as usual. But Soichiro knew that would change once he revealed the news.
"We reached an agreement. Karashima isn't set free completely. But for now, he doesn't have to meet with any clients." Soichiro informed her.
"Really?" Lila's tone suddenly changed, just like he said.
"Yes."
"I'm glad. Thank you so much." For once the girl's tone contained no malice, instead, there was such brightness and light that stunned him. Yet Soichiro ought to be used to this already.
The times Lila has thanked him, it's never for her own sake but another person's. The times where she's kind to him and shows this much emotion is only when it's for another person.
