They spend the next three days on the island, Haruka taking her to many different places. It was very relaxing, minus the stares she got from everybody. Today they would be returning back home. Haruka already made the arrangements. Lila was sad that their mini trip was coming to an end, but Lila knew from the very beginning that this wasn't supposed to be a vacation.
The reason why Haruka brought her here was so she could learn more about his past and learn she did. The hard way. The number of women that approached them these last two days were awful. 'He wasn't kidding when he said he slept around,' Lila thought. Though she already saw it with her own eyes before they dated each other. Lila didn't think it would increase.
She really ought to be more careful, there are so many pests buzzing around him.
"We're going to a cemetery, why are you so merry?"
Lila laughed, "But, I finally get to meet the person who has been taking care of you this whole time."
"Meeting, he's dead."
"That's not the point."
Haruka sighed and silence followed between them. Is it a crime for her to be so cheerful?
"I came close on purpose. Because you'd look away immediately if I didn't, right?"
Her cheeks reddened at his words, "How come ..., even now with us staring at each other, I can't understand you," her eyes widened at his words. That's right. Even though they are so close with each other right now, how come it feels as though something's missing? " I can't see anything, but just looking at your pupils kinda makes me feel happy."
"Will we kiss?" Lila shyly asked him.
Haruka smiled, "I do want to, but we're almost at the old man's grave."
Lila understood what he meant. It wouldn't be appropriate for the two of them to make out in front of a grave.
"I didn't say we wouldn't kiss, I'm saying we will kiss when we get there."
Lila laughed, "Haruka, are you being petty about something?"
Haruka deeply sighed and nodded, "The old man used to tell me it's impossible for me to get a girl."
"He probably meant he didn't think it was possible for you to like someone. Girls were already flocking to you left and right back then, correct?"
"Why do you sound jealous?"
Lila's cheeks puffed into a pout knowing she can't deny his words, "Of course I'm jealous! We missed out on so much together, it's only natural for me to get jealous," though part of that is because of her. If only she noticed when she met Haruka in Light Town, "Say Haruka, I have a question."
"Hmm?"
"Why didn't you do anything to me until the last day?" Lila asked.
"Are you talking about that time?"
Lila nodded.
"For one, you were in middle school. Even I have my morals," Haruka trailed off, "And the second thing? I was just happy to see you again. The two of us were separated for a very long time after all. Just being beside you was enough for me. However, when I saw you hugging Austin Kiryu. When I saw how close you two had gotten with each other. I wanted to steal you away."
Lila who was clinging to his arm, clung tighter, "Why didn't you take me?"
Haruka reached over and flicked her forehead, "Idiot."
"But, but, I'm serious. You could have stolen me."
"Hey, do you really want me dead? Back then I was still building up my power. If I took you away then, I would have gotten killed by the hanyou elite society heads or maybe even your own family would have hunted me down."
"They wouldn't do that."
"No, they would have. You don't know your parents well do you?"
Those words stung. Of course, she didn't know her parents very well, why would she? Since the day she was born and able to speak, her family situation wasn't exactly normal. She spent the first part of her life thinking the man named Kanagawa Ren was her father, despite her Mother telling her otherwise. Mother always said 'Look this is your father,' she showed many pictures and pointed to him when he was on TV. But Lila still didn't understand, because ever since she was born, the one by her and her mother's side was Ren-san and not her father.
The first half of her life her father was missing, but he wasn't at fault at all. He was deceived and tricked. The moment he found out, he rushed to Mother's side. However, in the process of him returning - she lost Ren-san. For a while, Lila had very complicated feelings. Ren-san got into an accident right after Mother and Father made up. Then Mother who was finally able to smile was purged into despair again. Ren-san's accident got to her, though at first, she insisted nothing was wrong. The affects overtime were awful, and it leads to the second half of her life where her Mother was missing.
Haruka must have realized that he offended her since he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. With a troubled expression, he apologized but the damage had been done. Lila kept repeating the words in her head like some sort of spell. What snapped her out of the spell was arriving in front of the grave.
"Hello, I know it's been a long time since I last paid a visit. I hope you aren't too mad at me, I wanted to get my life together. Which hasn't exactly been easy, I'm not really sure if I have my life together right now. But I wanted to introduce you to my wife, she's the most amazing, beautiful person I've ever met."
Ah?!!!
What is this? A surprise attack? Lila shyly glanced over at Haruka and saw a serious look on his face. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. The sound in her heart got louder and louder, Haruka must have noticed since he squeezed her hand and smiled.
"This is her, the girl that changed my life. My wife Terashima Lila."
'My wife,' even though there are more details to be settled on the matter, and they can't just get married when they both have people they are engaged to. Haruka already understands her feelings. She's chosen him, she wants to be with him and nobody else. This is the first time she's ever felt this way about another person.
"You'll probably laugh if you were here old man and believe I hired her to date me or something. You probably wouldn't expect me to find somebody so beautiful, kind, and have a loving and sincere heart. But I found one. The one person who I want to spend the rest of my life with. You know, I really do like her a lot - and I can't imagine myself with another person. That's why I came here today, I want you to give your blessings."
It felt strange that Haruka was talking about her like she wasn't there while looking at her. She understands that he's introducing her, but it still felt strange. Not to mention how embarrassed she felt about everything.
Haruka squeezed her hand, "Lila."
"Ah? Um? Um?"
He chuckled, "Say something, otherwise he really will think that I'm just running my mouth."
"Ah, h--hello!" Lila stammered, oh no she bite her tongue.
"My wife seems to be nervous, don't take it to heart."
Lila glared at him, of course, she would be nervous. He doesn't usually say such things about her. So isn't it only natural to get caught off guard? What's more, she feels very very happy. Instead of saying those words out loud though, Lila let go of Haruka's hand and started praying.
Hello sir, like Haruka said her name is Terashima Lila and while she only just accepted recently his proposal - he's already calling her his wife. Which she supposes is only natural, since she's more or less confirmed things. The two of them have a lot more things to work out before they can actually marry each other.
