Before Lila could hit the ground, though, Haruka catches her just on time. Her gaze softened when she saw his worried expression. "I'm alright."

"Let's go to the hospital."

….

He was not pleased at all.

Then again, no average doctor would like it if their patient comes back worse than before.

"Lila-chan, why did you come back much worse?" Eita said half irritated.

"Uh…"

"Damn, call your husband in here! Tell him not to touch you. I need to have a serious word with that guy."

Lila laughed awkwardly, "It's okay, it's okay. Haruka isn't doing it on purpose." She looked down at the ground. "He doesn't know anything."

Eita sighed, "You don't plan to tell him?"

"If I tell him. It will only worry him even more. Besides, if he knew, he would make me drop out of the tournament."

"You're as stubborn as your mother. Is music that important to you?"

"Why are you asking something you know the answer to?"

"Coming from me, this may be strange. But, if music is that important to you, then you should take care of your health. If you keep this up, something bad will happen to you."

Before Lila could respond, they hear a knock on the door. Silver hair emerged from the door frame, and her eyes lit up. "Kiryu!"

Kiryu smiled softly once he saw her, "Hey, you're here too."

"You didn't follow me?"

"While I would normally, today, I came for a check-up too."

Lila looked at him curiously, "You're not hiding it from me anymore?"

"Since you already know, there is no point."

That's true. But even then, Lila got up. "I don't want to disturb. I have a blood test and an x-ray left, right? I'll wait in the waiting room."

With those words said, Lila swiftly left the room. Honestly, she would be lying if she said she wasn't curious because she was very curious. But, it isn't right to invade his privacy, unlike before she has no right to listen to his private medical records. Kiryu would probably say something like he doesn't mind. However, it would be too much of her to keep thinking of his affairs as her own. Lila made her way down the hallway. Even for a private hospital, the place couldn't escape the winter flu. Staff were running around back and forth with supplies.

'It must be hard work, working in a hospital.' Lila thought. Working anywhere is hard. Whether it is the entertainment industry or not, people have to put in the effort - otherwise, they will not get anywhere. She eventually arrived in the waiting room. Haruka was there, but he wasn't alone. Sophia was there too, her arms wrapped around his neck.

"That was an interesting game."

Haruka sighed, "You knew? Why didn't you expose me then?"

Sophia laughed, "I wanted to see if you would cave in."

Spotting her, Haruka pulled away from Sophia and walked over.

Haruka wrapped his arms around her, "Are you done?"

Lila nodded, "Ah-huh." Her gaze remained on Sophia, who was still glancing over at Haruka. Such a sinister look filled the girl's eyes.

He gently kissed her cheeks, "Completely?"

"I have a few more tests."

"Then, let's wait elsewhere. Shall we go outside for a bit?"

"Okay."

...

Lila found a quiet corner and attacked Haruka with passionate kisses. It was too cold to go outside, so they asked for a spare room. Lila felt like she cheated the hospital to use one of their rooms for her, but Haruka claimed that she is a patient too.

"Wife, nngh…Hey, what's the matter? Not that I don't like your kisses, but…"

"Nothing."

It's nothing; she isn't worried or anything. It isn't like that. Okay, so maybe she is paranoid whenever it comes to Sophia.

"You wrote a song for DEVIL, thank you," she mumbled and drew back from him.

Haruka looked away and sighed. "Don't get me wrong. I would still rather write only for you, and you alone."

"You changed your mind."

"Because taking on the world stage alone is lonely. I don't want you to be alone. I want to be on that stage with you."

Lila laughed softly, "You care about me, Haruka. I'm very happy."

"Happy, huh?" Haruka took her hand and slipped something on her finger.

Lila blushed when she saw what it was. "Uh, um, shouldn't this be done more romantically?" Obviously, Lila knew what it was.

"Mm, sorry. Impatient. Do you like it?"

"I love it, Haruka, but shouldn't we wait until the wedding ceremony?"

"I thought that too. But, since we announced it to the public just now. It would be strange if we don't have proper rings."

"So, it's for a practical purpose?"

Haruka brushed his head against hers, their lips briefly touched. "No, it's only to make you happy."

Thump. Thump, thump.

Why-- why is her heart beating?

"Why are you turning so red? do you want some water?" Haruka was looking around the hallway.

"There's a water fountain there, but I'd rather get you some bottled water. Wait, I'll go to the store. There are seats over there, sit."

Lila somehow managed to nod her head.

Her head does feel fuzzy...

She leaned on the wall for a few minutes before Haruka returned.

"You look paler, should I get the doctor?"

Lila shook her head and accepted the water from him.

"You really do look sick, I've canceled your work. We can go home together after this," Haruka gently caressed her hair.

"Haruka, kiss, and cuddle…"

Haruka smiled and lightly pressed his lips against hers. She pouted, "A proper kiss!!"

"Lila dearest, if I give you a proper kiss, you won't be able to stand anymore."

But she wants a proper one... "Haruka, a proper one."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

"Gee, alright."

"So, since when did you have an appointment?"

Kiryu laughed at that comment, "You've been doing these random tests for the past few minutes. Now you're asking that?"

Eita sighed, "I'm just going along with it. You want to see Lila's results?"

"Yeah."

He reached out for a file and tossed them, "These are for the morning tests. I still need to do some more later. But, as you can see, it isn't good."

Kiryu scanned the report and paused. "Can't I give her my blood?" Judging from her results, Lila needs a blood type that is compatible with hers. His should do the trick.

"Kiryu."

"It's just a bit; it would help her, won't it?"

A deep sigh escaped Eita's lips, "I know I'm not one to talk on this matter. But, Kiryu, you should try to move on. Don't get hung up on a woman that won't come back to you."

Kiryu laughed, "Is it that obvious I'd lose?"

"Kiryu...you..just think about it, will you? Lila is a nice girl, and yes, we all thought you two would end up together. But something changed. So…"

"It's Lila's decision. I made that clear from the very beginning. Even if I didn't send her to Light Town, I would have told her about Haruka. I would have brought Haruka here. Nothing would have changed; she would have still had to choose. This way, Lila can choose after getting to know us both."

Whenever Kiryu closes his eyes, the image of the girl named Terashima Lila would appear in his head. Even now, all he can think about is her and her alone. Call him stupid or whatever, but Kiryu knew these feelings for her would not disappear anytime soon. But at the same time, there was something he understood.

No matter how much he loves her, she can never belong to him.
