After doing her hair and painting her nails. Lila started to kiss him, and for a while, he allowed her to do whatever she wanted. His gaze fell on the girl who fell asleep amid all that kissing and touching. So hopeless, but he is the same. Without her, he's become a hopeless man. For the longest time, didn't he know already? "Hubby, love..." Lila whispered.

It was faint, but Haruka heard her clearly. He bent down and gently kissed her lips. 'So foolish.' But this woman is his wife now. How long have they been married? Since when did they date? He's already starting to lose track of those days. The two of them acting this way every day, it seems so normal. It feels like they have been this way forever.

Catching a glimpse of Lilas's phone, he paused before he reached out for it.

From: Brother

[ So, did you tell him?]

[She did idiot.]

[...Well, want to meet up?]

Geez, he's so casual. How frustrating, he paused when he saw Lila toss back and forth. Huh? She isn't the type to struggle when she is sleeping. She seldom has nightmares these days too. Haruka glanced over and saw her face was unusually red.

...

Haruka paced back and forth.

An hour had passed since he called Misaki and asked her for help. It's not like Misaki is a medical expert. However, her family runs a pharmaceutical company. Lila's fever seemed unusual to him; that's why he called her immediately.

His thoughts broke of when a woman with short pink hair re-entered the room.

"How is she?

"Sleeping, her fever is as bad as you say. I was really worried when you called me saying to come over. I thought something serious had happened."

This was serious; his wife's fever seemed abnormal. "It's bad, is that all?"

"Well, I'll give you the details properly once I've investigated."

"Okay."

"What? Are you upset? Don't tell me you wanted to nurse her?

Haruka averts his gaze. Usually, he would make a retort back. But he can't really do so in this situation since Misaki is right.

"You were worried about her at the conference too. Although you couldn't speak to each other than, go look in on her, I'll allow that much."

"Na, it's fine since your here for her." As Haruka turned to leave, he hears the sound of a bottle opening. He turned and saw Misaki with a bottle in her hands.

"I use a grown-up drink. Care to keep me company?"

He looks at her, dumbfounded, "I have things I want to do now, so..."

"C'mon, you'll enjoy it. I'll be nice. So sit."

"Enjoy what. .? Hey. ."

But it was no use since she dragged him to the couch. Haruka exhales deeply, why is it that his women friends are so forceful? Man, he really does need to make friends with an actual girl. But, huh, if he does, Lila will probably get jealous.

When one hears the words 'grown-up drink' usually, you'd think of some sort of alcohol. But no, what Misaki handed him was a high-class coffee. "Fancy, and unlike you."

Misaki smiles as she puts more sugar cubes inside hers, "Cafe royale, a grown-up drink, right?"

Misaki even took the trouble to light candles up. Haruka took a sip of the drink.

"Like it?"

"Yeah, it's good." Since the guys around him like alcohol, and the few female associates that he has are those types of girls. His bad reputation, huh? It will be high time before those people take action to destroy the trust he has built so far. Some have yet to truly forgive him for what he did back then and are only tolerating him to a certain extent now.

"Don't let that meeting bother you. What that idiot said was ridiculous."

A deep sigh escaped his lips. Right, Misaki was there too. That last meeting, Zane held that he attended. Quite some time had passed since then, but he hasn't met with Misaki in awhile.

"You mean Mikado? Well, I don't blame him for hating me." Rather when he thinks of that man's face, it's really hard not to laugh.

Misaki shook her head, "It still isn't right. He's making dragging your personal conflict into this. I know he is a short-tempered guy. But he's your friend, a good guy. Anyway, you did nothing wrong."

His gaze softened at the girl's words. So that's it. "Ha, Ha, so that's why you stopped me to console me? Thanks, sis," he joked.

The girl rolled her eyes and bit her lip, "There's that, and actually, I was worried I said too much. About Kiryu."

"Lila was worried too," he mumbled. "I only mentioned the meeting briefly. But she expressed her concern."

"You're worried about Kiryu himself rather than the gems, right? May I ask why?"

"That guy, Kiryu reminds me of how I used to be. For the longest time, I thought of nothing else. Hate consumed me. Even though my feelings for Lila have always been there, I couldn't go to her. If I were strong enough, I would have never left her side. Lila always says that the main reason she doesn't return to Kiryu is because he left her. But didn't I do the same? I left her for so many years."

"That's…"

"The truth," he murmured. "I was a terrible person. I didn't give a damn about others. To survive, I did anything. But I am what I am today because of Kiryu and people like you who stood by me. Lila, too, has become another guiding light, as well as support me countless times. That's the difference between Kiryu and me; that's the only difference. But even then..."

He knows how Yumeko and his old companions have desperately been trying to save him.

"So he's not just some guy. People actually care and want him back despite everything. It makes me wonder why he's so fixed on the gems. If getting it will turn him around. Who were those gems for? It just bothers me, sorry."

By this point, he had his head down.

Misaki gently knocked his head before giving him several nogies. "Why apologize, silly? It's only natural that you're so worried."

"You're not mad?"

"Should I be?"

Haruka averted his gaze, causing the girl to sigh.

"Do you think I'm that heartless, I'm a kind, gentle and wise woman."

Don't forget a nag, but he supposed mentioning that now wouldn't be good in his situation.

"I'm glad we talked, planning this was worth it. You've grown up, Haruka. I used to think of you as a child, with the way you slept around with any random woman. But I was wrong. Even then, you had your reasons. You're not a bad guy Haruka, you never were. Neither you nor Kiryu deserves any hate. Both of you deserve to be with Lila. Anybody does. However, that decision is hers. Lila picked you in the end. No matter what other people do, Lila will not leave you. The same goes for Kiryu. He's always treated you as his friend. He never blamed you for what happened then."

Haruka didn't know why, but at some point, tears started to fall from his eyes.

"Wait, you're actually crying?"

"I'm not," he retorted. "Don't look. I'm not crying."

Dammn, he doesn't want her to look. It's so embarrassing. He doesn't understand why he is crying so suddenly, anyway.
