"Will you really kill her?"

Mikami could sense the regret in his tone. So he had to ask this. How many years have passed since he met Haruka-senpai? Back then, when they first met. All Mikami saw was a man with hazard looking eyes. A man who looked like he was on the verge of giving up and surrendering to the world. When he saw that, Mikami thought it would be best to watch over him. He had no obligation to yet. His father did not give him instructions then. It was his own decision, that's why he wants to help to the very end. This is something he can't leave be. Haruka-senpai show showed him many things and Lila-chan.

Lila-chan is precious; she is the key to everything.

"I.."

"You can't, can you? Haruka-senpai, you've never harmed a single person in your life. You can't take another person's life," Mikami interjected. The maroon colored haired man looked down, with a guilty expression.

All those bad rumors regarding Haruka-senpai. Mikami already investigated it all. Those rumors are all lies. Well, not entirely. Sure Haruka-senpai got involved with those girls, but he didn't kill them. The one who did that cruel deed was most likely Sophia. Senpai took the blame. He suffered so much injustice because of that woman.

Mikami clenched his fist, 'Why does senpai have to suffer just because of Sophia-san?' He wanted to help this man no matter what. He isn't kind at all. He would never do this much for his friends normally. But things differ now. The situation has changed.

"It's complicated," Haruka murmurs. "But it's for Lila. I don't want to stain my hands if it will lead to hurting her."

Mikami adjusts his hat, so it covers his face, he did not respond to those words as silence descended upon them. They've all become entranced and captured by her spell, huh? In the end, though, only one person can win, and who knows it may not end up being any of the leading parties. No, that's not what the issue is. That night they accepted her, he received a message.

'I believe that the guy that ends up with Lila is someone who has a full understanding of what she's feeling. Someone who can understand her with no words needed. Right now, there's only one candidate that can fit that description."

Only one candidate, eh? Yeah, Mikami knew indeed who the girl was talking about. However, for now, that person won't be much of a threat.

"Say, do you know why those people would be after Lila anyway?"

Mikami blinks at the sudden question, "…No. She would have had to do something serious to catch their attention."

"If it's her, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being that factor." He raised his eyebrows at this, that factor? Haruka continues, "You know, the whole she went there to rescue her friend."

Ah, so that's the one. Mikami glanced up at the ceiling, "Tut if it does end up being that reason. Then, that means she…" he doesn't say the next part. There is no need to, they already know instinctively.

By doing that, yes, she has good intentions to save her friend. But if it were something like that, just leaving it to the police or an official organization would be better. For her to have gone this far, then that means she's prepared to put her life on the line? Is it because of her illness? Either way, it'll be fine. That person would keep his end of the bargain. Even without the black hair boy talking to him about it, he had every intention of doing so anyway because that girl said something as reckless as that.

'I won't die. Because I'm... I'm somebody who'll protect you.'

That girl's sense of justice is something; he still needs to learn more about. "So, do you want me to do it, senpai? I'll set a trap and kill Sophia-san for you."

Haruka sighed, "No, I can't keep involving you in these matters. Just focus on Iwa Kasumi already. You two deserve a normal relationship. I appreciate everything you've done for me this entire time. But, there are limits."

Mikami knew that very well. He's gotten too involved now. It's time to back down. However, how could he leave now? Will senpai be fine alone? He watched over this person for so long. Haruka-senpai doesn't have many people he can confine in, not many companions at all.

"I will do it," a sweet voice said, breaking the intense atmosphere.

Haruka looked alarmed at the girl in his arms, "Don't pretend to sleep, you need to rest."

Lila laughed, "I know," her gaze softened, and she caressed his cheeks. "It was because of you, that's why it's fine. I'll take care of it."

"I can't let you."

"No, you will. Because you understand, don't you?"

"Damn..." Haruka cursed.

Lila suddenly turned to him, "Mikami-kun, can I talk to you for a moment?"

Mikami blinked, confused, but nodded his head. What is she thinking now?

At that comment, Haruka frowned, "Lila, what are you.."

"Sssh, it's just a little something. Can you buy me some food? I'm hungry."

"Okay, what would you like?"

"Hmm, some pastries."

"Got it," Haruka kissed the girl's lips and let her go. Judging from his movement, senpai didn't want to let the girl go. But, he still did it. Mikami wanted to say something. However, his gaze met Lila's. So, he watched as the maroon haired man walk out the room.

At first, nobody spoke, the air felt heavier than it did when he was speaking with senpai. Mikami understood why Lila-chan is most likely going to talk about that. After a few minutes, the girl broke the silence.

"Thank you for not telling him," Lila thanked him.

"I wanted to, so many times."

Laughter escaped her lips, "I know. And really, you've secretly covered up for me this entire time. Thank you so much, Mikami-kun."

"My father nagged me about it. That I had to protect, no, I had to follow your lead."

"You didn't have to listen."

"But I did."

"Yes, you did," Lila stood up and walked over to the windows. "Tell me something Mikami-kun, what's justice to you?"

"Justice?"

"Yeah."

Mikami paused and shook his head. "I've never thought of it before."

Lila doesn't reply, and he watched as a small black flame appears from her fingertips. His eyes widened when he saw that. Isn't that Kiryu-san's— just as he thought that the flames changed color? Mikami watched for a few more minutes. So, that's how it is. No wonder, Zane wants Lila. It isn't to do with remaining him sane, that's only part of the reason. The real reason is something more. Her powers as a hanyou? Unlike others, it's remained a history. Lila has always lived a normal life. For the past few months, nothing had happened. Sure there were some minor incidences at the start, but nothing happened for so long.

Ever since she started dating Haruka-senpai, nobody has attacked her. Mikami thought it was a coincidence. But, it seems like that isn't the case here. "Senpai, he's..."

"A fool, the deals he made with Zane. I know everything; truly, he's an idiot. But, Haruka doesn't know about the deal I made with Soichiro. He doesn't know why Soichiro does so much for me, and I plan to take the full story with me to my grave. Since it involves the loss of life."

The loss of ... Mikami looked down, "I have to say, I'm surprised. Unlike your mother your.."

"Not involved with such matters?" The way Lila said it so innocently made him shudder. There was something about it that made him feel strange.
