This world is covered in darkness. A darkness that isn't visible to the human eye. Only those who have been tainted could see it, the darkness in this world. If there's light in this world then there's going to be darkness too. That's always been the case. But a darkness that involved claming the life of another person? A teenage girl? That was something she wouldn't stand for.
Involving those dear to her?
That was pushing it.
Lila immediately threw up the contents down the sink. 'So much for her bravery.' The body was in such a bad state, that Lila couldn't recognize the woman at first. What made her feel sick wasn't the state of the body. Despite living such a closed lifestyle when she was younger. Lila was used to gore.
'The darkness,' ever since she was younger. It showed her many things. That's why, the sight of the body isn't what disturbed her. It was the thought that there was somebody out there who could do such a gruesome thing without hesitating. Lila could tell from the state of the body how that person didn't hesitate to injure her that way.
She felt a warm hand pat her back. Lila already knew who it was. When she left the room earlier, Kiryu quickly followed after her.
\"Throw it all up. I have some water, drink it after you finish,\" his tone is gentle and he seemed quite concerned. \"If you need anything, tell me. I will get it for you.\"
\"I'm sorry about this,\" Lila mumbled. \"I'm causing you problems.\"
He shook his head. \"No, honestly I want to be sick too. Who would do that to a person?\"
'Zane.' Lila thought. Just the mere mention of that man always made her blood boil. This isn't the first case he is involved in. He caused the death of so many other people. However, this is the first time somebody she knew got involved. Even if it's indirect, 'is this a warning from him?'
After a few more minutes of throwing up. Lila no longer felt the bile in her throat and Kiryu passed her a cup of water. She gulped it all down quickly and sighed.
Her thoughts broke off when she spotted somebody approached them. A hyou4 member with pale brown hair. \"Kiryu-san, the news report is on.\"
Kiryu nodded and quickly sent the man away. He walked over to the TV and switched it on.
\"We received word that this girl was last seen in with Karashima Haruka,\" the announcer said.
Ahhh?!!! At that comment her eyes widened alarmed. Wait, what? What did... She looked over at Kiryu whose gaze darkened.
\"It seems he is serious about taking Haruka down too.\"
\"Kiryu?\" Lila mumbled.
\"Sorry Lila, I should have told you.\" Kiryu apologized. \"But for awhile, Zane isn't happy with Haruka. Up till now Zane let Haruka get away with everything. However it's different now.\"
Lila bit her lip. Kiryu didn't have to give away any details. She already knew what he meant. It seems like she has no choice. Her eyes flashed red and a dark aura wrapped around her. They want to mess with Haruka? Then, they will have to answer to her. She felt her entire blood boil, and she couldn't keep her powers under control. Dark vines seemed to stem out of her body. Right now she knew her presence would crush any normal person walking by.
Kiryu patted her shoulder. \"Calm down.\"
\"But, why? Why Haruka?\"
\"Because Zane wants you. Haruka is in the way.\"
\"Did he do this to you too?\" Lila mumbled. Now that she thought about it, there were strange rumors about Kiryu for awhile.
\"Yeah, he did. But he changed his attention to Haruka. Zane knew for awhile now that Haruka was no longer pretending with you. His pawn would eventually turn against him. Do you know how we got those reports?\"
\"You researched right?\"
Kiryu shook his head. \"Haruka gave those to us.\"
'Lila, leave it to me.' Haruka's words echoed in her head. So this is what he meant? He's been supplying information? From the start Haruka was a spy anyway, but even then he never acted as recklessly as this. She glanced down at the ground. Lila wanted to ask, 'Why now?' But, asking something like that would be too cruel.
Before Lila could say anything, she hears the sound of her phone.
She immediately bolted out of the headquarters. Lila didn't realize she could run this fast until now. But the text message alarmed her. It was from Rosalia. 'Look, your husband is cheating.' It was a simple photograph with some mocking words. But, it made her uneasy.
Somebody grabbed hold of her arm causing her to stop.
\"Lila, what's wrong?\"
Lila wanted nothing more than to leave already. But when she saw how worried Kiryu looked, she knew she couldn't leave him. Lila took her phone out and passed it to him.
\"Lila, this isn't ..\"
\"I know,\" Lila exclaimed. \"I know. But something might happen. Haruka doesn't look normal in this photo. With this news about him too. Another incident won't look good. I will go and make sure.\"
Kiryu shook his head and pulled her into his arms. \"Calm down, you won't get very far if you behave this way.\"
\"I know.\" Lila looked down at the ground. \"I know Kiryu, I'm just..\"
\"Sssh, it's alright.\"
Just three words and yet Lila felt herself gradually calm down. What a strange feeling. How come Kiryu has this affect on her? Kiryu didn't let her go even when she said she was okay. It seemed like his hold on her tightened.

Lila clenched her fist. \"But if he did it willingly? Do I still have to trust him? I love Haruka, Kiryu. However I have my limits. If he did do something, I won't be able to forgive him.
\"I know, but calm down yeah? Haruka will never deliberately hurt you.\"
\"Kiryu, why do you keep defending Haruka? Shouldn't you be on my side?\" Lila mumbled. She knew how petty that sounds. However, right now her emotions were a mess.
Kiryu chuckled, \"I am on you're side Lila and that's why I can say this.\"
\"Liar, if you were on my side why did you leave me?\"
Her eyes widened when she realized what she just said. Kiryu too seemed surprised. Lila tried to pry herself away from his arms. But Kiryu held her tightly.
\"You're still bitter about that huh? Is that why you can't talk to me properly?\"
Lila looked away. \"Please let me go.\"
\"My Lila, you know I regret it. I let you go back then over such foolish reasons. I'm sorry Lila,\" Kiryu mumbled. His next action certainly surprised her. But then again, she thought he would do it much sooner.
When Kiryu kissed her, he wasn't forceful. He gently pried her mouth open and even with their tongues intertwined together. Something about it felt gentle. She felt her cheeks grow hotter as Kiryu continued to kiss her. The way he occasionally mumbled her name, and caressed her hair made her feel stranger.
