Chapter 106

The Great Dickening *Edited to update the name, because Great Dickening is so much better than Fowl Feathered Ends*

*/SilverMoon- Okay, seriously, WHAT WAS THAT last night? Was that an event? Do you guys think we are going to continue to get events like that every immersion? Was it a once a week thing, or once an immersion thing? Kind of like an end of immersion final bang for players? I for one, am hoping that's what it is. That fighting was chaotic, but honestly some of the best fun I've had for a world event like that. And oh my god, the moment Charles Emerged and all the dickens got that buff. Holy hell it was terrifying. So glad I got two levels in from Dicken slaying before he hatched. AOE spells for the win! What about you guys? How'd it go for all of you?

**/Jensen123- Honestly, I'm going to have nightmares. Like, yeah, my party was able to gain a level during the dicken waves, but all that squaking, the flying eggs, the explosions, the baby dickens running about. It was pure chaos! But seriously, I would do it again…I would just want to be a little more prepared.

***/Zannan- I've been looking at the other forums for the other dungeons. From what I can see, this seems to be an occurrence that only happens in the hire dungeons. It seems the stronger the dungeon becomes, the more unique things become available.

****/Redikai- Stronger dungeons? Is there a way for us to check our instances dungeon level? And what makes it grow stronger?

*****/Zannan- Eh, not sure what makes it stronger, but it seems the amount of floor and the levels of the mobs are a good indicator. Some dungeons seem to only have one floor, and in those all of the boss mobs for the first floor were under level 15, from what I've read. So, keep up the good work guys. Apparently we're making our dungeon awesome!

******/FallenEagle295- Demonic Farm animals and Steampunk Dinosaurs…. I would say our dungeon is on drugs.

*******/Chaos09- Whatever it's on, I want some. Can't wait for floor three!

James scrolled through a few more rows of the comments regarding chuckling painfully as he did. From what he could see, the common consensus was that whatever that mass wipe event was, it was awesome. It seemed a lot of players were comparing it to a horde mode-esq event, where players just had to survive against waves and waves of the same enemy for a certain amount of time. Of course, no group had managed to bring down Charles the Dicken and all of the dickens. This was due to the fact that some of the higher level players were still spread across floor 2 instances when the battle occurred, or were resting in town. Because James waited so long to do the event, he missed a lot of the higher level players. Which of course had been his plan, he needed the lower levels, because they were the ones most likely to wipe, and give him the experience he needed.

Of course, it seemed a lot of his prey had instead loved the event. Sure, they died, a terrible, terrible death of demonic squaking chickens and exploding eggs… but they had leveled. From what he could see, almost every group that actually managed to organize themselves at the start of the onslaught, had gained one, if not two, levels, before wiping. That meant the average player level for James's players had gone up.

Apparently, mass wipe events, if done properly, could benefit not only the dungeon, but also the player base. James was definitely planning to implement one of these every immersion now, as it seemed the players loved that event. He also realized the reason Z was asking if he had taken a part in it, was because Z's group had been out of the dungeon when it happened. That had to really eat at the pro. Maybe James would throw him a bone, and make sure to start the next one when the Knight's were in an instance. After all, they could do with a little extra leveling, considering how floor three was going to be.

The final part of the forums that made James chuckle, was the fact that they happened to name the event the very name of one of his very first achievements. It seemed the name had been a suggestion from a player in the chat, someone going by the username SMcCloud4242 had suggested it to the original poster. Oddly enough though, that was the only post history James could see for SMcCloud4242, and James wondered what the player was in DCO. Whoever it was, James couldn't help but wonder if they realized how on the nose their humor was when compared to the developers.

After browsing the subreddit forums for his dungeon a little while longer, while angrily sipping his Soylent Blue, James realized he had been neglecting something. Something that could prove important in the upcoming battle. He of course had very few leads on BLANK and the dungeon that was challenging him. However, he nearly facepalmed himself as he realized he had missed possibly one of the biggest troves of information available to him. He had no idea what the anime Rue had recommended to him would cover, but before that, James had a little more homework to do.

He of course had no idea of knowing what town would represent BLANKs city. The dungeon core that was BLANK never actually shared any video, or information, on the core chat or forums. In fact, all anyone knew about BLANK, was that the dungeon had candy as its mob type. However, that was going to be enough. Mainly because when Xander had released the update informing all the cores of the upcoming Dungeon War update, the developer had given them one more piece of information regarding BLANK. BLANKs timezone was PST. So, if James ran a search for candy mob dungeons in the PST timezone, then there was a good chance he was going to be able to find the subreddit related to BLANKs dungeon.

The pro gamers may have kept their mouth shut about their dungeon, likely trying to keep a competitive edge against all the other dungeons, and slowly learning any and all tricks they could that they hadn't been able to glean from their father, but there was one thing they had no control over. And that, was the fact that most MMO gamers, loved chatting and sharing information on forums. And, as Zannan's comments on James's dungeon's subreddit had reminded him, anyone could view the subreddits for the other instances. Needless to say, James copied the url and sent it to Rue as soon as he found what he was looking for. BLANKs Dungeon's subreddit.
