Chapter 108

James hated BLANK. Well, actually, he loved BLANK. That is, the actual BLANK. Because of this fact, he hated BLANK, the imposter duo that he had to deal with in the real world. Of course, at the same time, he was kind of glad they weren't more like the duo from the anime Rue had mentioned he should watch. If they had been like the actual duo, whom he was positive BLANK had stolen their name from, he would actually be quite screwed. After all, BLANK never lost.

Xander's kids though, were just using the name because of some illusions of grandeur. Though, there was always the possibility Xander had given them the username and introduced them to the anime. He had to have at least seen or heard of it himself, everything was too coincidental not to. In fact, James was pretty sure Xander's whole quest for two children who could become his equals in gaming, stemmed from his knowledge of that anime.

The fact the developer had taken and tarnished something as amazing as No Game No Life, and pulled it through the mud, made James even more determined to win the bet. Even if, you know, his whole existence as a dungeon core wasn't on the line. In fact, James couldn't wait to log back in, so he could see just exactly what else he could do to ensure his victory over BLANK.

His rage over BLANK was still boiling as he began watching the second season of the anime. He was really looking forward to seeing what would happen, considering the cliff they had left him on in season 1, when he received a pop-up notification. The notification flashed across his vision, appearing, rather invasively, over the large, augmented screen he was watching the anime on. Another perk of his AR glasses.

"Who is-" He paused his complaint as another notification popped up. Two messages, in the span of seconds? James really wasn't used to even receiving multiple messages through the day. In fact, other than the occasional message from Rue over the past two days, he was generally what one could consider a hermit. As he saw who the messages were from, as well as their subject lines, he found himself grinning, painfully. Damned Dwight.

From Rue: The patch notes are out!

From Z: MM: They dropped new patch notes! Are you seeing this? Dungeon Wars!!!!!!

Based off of how rapidly both messages came in, James could guess that neither his pixie, nor Z, had actually had a chance to read the patch notes. In fact, he was pretty sure they would have just been released, and so Rue had directly messaged him about it, the moment she got a note about it. He figured, at least, the AI would get a note whenever such things released.

As for Z, if he had to guess, the gamer had an RSS feed set up, to notify him the moment information released. Normally, James just hung out in forums, so he could see the moment information like this dropped…which is why he didn't have an RSS feed set up. Because he had been binge watching anime though, he obviously wasn't watching the forums. Oops.

What surprised him more about Z's message, was the MM notification. It seemed Z had sent this message out as a mass message, which is what MM stood for. When and why the gamer had added James to a MM feed from the guild leader, he had no idea. Though, judging by Z's altruistic character, and his-

Another message appeared, followed by another. Within seconds, James had four more messages on his screen.

From AKnight: MM: RA: Dungeon Wars!!!!!

From Brook A.: MM: RA: Do you think we'll get new mobs?

From M. Miller: MM: RA: Chat at our favorite pub to go over these tonight?

And then, five seconds later.

From T.M. : MM: RA: STOP HITTING REPLY ALL. I ACTUALLY HAVE TO GET SOME WORK DONE BEFORE TONIGHT.

If James had to guess, Z had added him into a group message with the people who were probably the other four Knights. From the way Z was, he figured the old man just liked being able to share any and all DCO information with whoever would listen. Which obviously meant his guildmates, and James guessed himself. Since he had shown interest in Z's raid earlier.

What was annoying though, was the constant string of flashing messages, all along the same lines as the ones that had popped up initially. It seemed they were all trolling now, just to mess with whoever T.M. was. If James had to guess, it was a toss-up between Oak, or Med Ic. They seemed like the two most responsible members of the group, the two who might actually have a day job to deal with.

After a few more moments of chuckling at the Knight's antics, James decided to mute the conversation entirely, and move himself over to the forums as well. Season two of NGNL would have to sadly wait, as Dungeon Wars was the most important thing right now. Especially since there was still about 6 more hours till he could immerse himself once again. He figured he could read up on Dungeon Wars, contact Rue, and have the pixie start whatever preparations needed to be made, and then he could hop back into watching anime.

After all, until he could immerse himself again, there wasn't much he could do from the real world, unfortunately. Though, at least Rue could. So, he knew she would be able to make sure he started his next research when it was ready, and she could tweak whatever needed tweaking, beforehand. That, at least, had to be an advantage BLANK did not have. Since there shouldn't be a way for them to have as much in game interaction while logged out, as he and the others with AI did.

With that thought, James grinned and pulled up the forums. He had a war to prepare for, and unfortunately for BLANK, he had an AI, that he could trust to get some in game items taken care of. In his eyes, the battlefield had just been leveled.
