Chapter 156

There was a lot on the line for Dungeon Wars. James knew that. Rue knew that. However, for the moment, there was only one thing that mattered. One thing that had their full attention. And that was the current battle of battles. The epic, comic book, movie, or anime giant monster battle going on in front of them. A theme that captured and thrilled everyone, no matter their age, and no matter the world the lived in.

"Right o' chaps." The Perfect Cognivore had just reached The Candy Man, who had been slowly making his way steadily closer towards James's spawn area. Interesting, as The Candy Man made his way into James's territory, that same fog that prevented him from seeing into BLANKs area, seemed to accompany the secret boss. It seemed vision was something that was impacted by players, and the dungeon mobs they summoned. Meaning his players needed to gain more territory, to maintain a good view of the map. It was a mechanic James was all too familiar with from playing StarCraft.

As the Perfect Cognivore paused, probably 100 feet away from The Candy Man, the giant steampunk dinosaur's glowing eyes narrowed. "Time to take a bite out of crime." He let out in a low growl. James, Rue, and the countless players that had rushed to follow The Perfect Cognivore all let out a cheer of excitement. Because, while the wise thing would have been for James's players to take the time continuing summoning mobs, or Avatar's, etc, quite a few had chased after the Perfect Cognivore. After all, no one wanted to miss this fight.

Without warning, The Perfect Cognivore rose his arms, both of which had massive harpoon type launchers on them in place of the normal grenade launchers. James remembered those, and he grinned as he watched his secret boss launch the first attack. A total of 8 harpoons rocketed from The Perfect Cognivore, flying rapidly on a direct course towards The Candy Man. James had watched those harpoons instantly kill players. He was certain they would…

"What the hell." The harpoons punched into the gumdrop armor that surrounded the Candy Man, as expected. However, the moment they were drawn taught, as they were linked back to the Perfect Cognivore by a corded steel wire, the gumdrop armor they were attached to simply fell off of the secret boss. The harpoons fell uselessly to the ground. To make matters worse though, the gumdrop pieces stuck to the harpoons promptly began wriggling. A moment later, they grew eyes…

"Gumdrop…slimes?" Sure enough, the little gumdrop mobs rolled over the harpoons, slowly dissolving the weapons. Then, they began hoping towards The Perfect Cognivore, and James's players. Great, apparently BLANK had given his mob an upgrade that made his armor turn into freaking more mobs. That was hardly fair.

Granted, this was BLANK James was talking about. The duo obviously had no idea what the words fair or fun meant. They simply went for whatever was a guaranteed win, no matter how cheap or ruthless their tactics were.

That was fine, because James had known that about his foe. And he had prepared some of his own tactics for the enemy, in the event that The Perfect Cognivore were summoned to fight BLANKs players.

The Candy Man looked down at the gumdrop slimes moving away from him, and reached towards his chest, where the holes from which the slimes had fallen were. At least it didn't seem like his armor was repairing, meaning there was a limited amount of slime mobs he could make. James wondered if certain types of damage caused the mobs to form, or if any time the armor was hit, the damaged pieces would animate.

"You're a monster." The Candy Man said, anger evident in his high-pitched gingerbread voice. He lowered himself towards the ground, causing his massive frame to take on an almost sprinter like stance.

"Uh?"

"Don't look at me." Rue shook her head at James's questioning tone. She shook a box in her hand, dropping a handful of gumdrops into her palm, which she promptly threw into her mouth. Classic Rue. "I have no idea what that thing can-" Mid-sentence the boss took his action.

Without any warning, he went from sprinters stance, to moving. And boy was he moving. The speed with which The Candy Man left his previous position created a literally shockwave that sent roils of energy flowing back towards BLANKs territory. Furthermore, the ground where The Candy Man had been standing erupted into craters.

In the blink of an eye, The Candy Man closed the distance between himself and The Perfect Cognivore. Steam seemed to rise off his armored body as he came up just before James's boss, and James was certain a small part of his armor seemed to have melted away. He wasn't sure though, and he couldn't really get a good gauge of it, as BLANKs secret boss was not done with his action.

With the distance between the two closed, The Candy Man's massive candy cane axe rose above his head and came crashing down towards the Perfect Cognivore. The attack had so much speed and ferocity in it that James could literally see the sound wave forming around the weapon. If that move connected-

"Brilliant." The Perfect Cognivore called out, even as his Chainsword tail whipped around, equally as fast. The massive bladed tail intercepted the candy axe, and bits of metal and peppermint candy went flying everyone, along with a shockwave that blasted players who had ventured too close off their feet. "However, you've made a terrible mistake good sir."

Even as the two weapons collided, the turrets that spun slowly atop The Perfect Cognivore's shoulders swiveled to face The Candy Man. Originally, these two turrets had been miniguns…however, James had decided to upgrade them…for reasons. After all, while two defensive mini gun turrets were cool, an upgrade he had seen had just cried out for him to choose it. Especially against BLANK.

Tesla's Lost Plans- The Perfect Cognivore has been upgraded with Tesla's lost technology. Replaces his mini gun self-defense turrets with Tesla Coil powered death rays. Death Rays do 1x lvl damage per second, increasing damage by 20percent every 10 seconds.

On cue, a loud humming sound erupted from the two turrets atop The Perfect Cognivore, as two bolts of cackling energy leapt towards The Candy Man.

"Huzzah." James let out a loud cheer as the energy punched into The Candy Man. However, his enthusiasm died down almost immediately after. The crackling energy seemed to hit the secret boss, and then disperse all throughout the gumdrop armor. The Candy Man didn't even seem phased. Well shit.

"I'll make you eat those words." The Candy Man growled, as his eyes began to glow. The frosting that made up his eyes began taking on a dark, red tinge. At the same time, a similar red powder began to flow out of The Candy Man's eyes.

"What in the world is that?" James stared hard at the powdery substance that was creating a large cloud now around The Candy Man's face. A moment later, The Candy Man's eyes erupted with fire. The red powdery substance caught fire as well and blasted into the Terminus's face. On impact, the flames burst apart, and returned to their floating, red particle form.

"Enjoy the Cinnamon Challenge." The Candy Man laughed as he leapt away from the Terminus, out of the range of the steampunk boss's defensive turrets. While the death rays had seemed less than effective, James could see part of The Candy Man's armor had diminished, meaning James's boss had at least done some damage.

"Bwahahaha." The Perfect Cognivore turned his glowing red eyes on The Candy Man, flashing a toothy, mechanical grin. "Foolish creature. I'm made of metal. Your aggravating spice cannot effect me." A blast of steam erupted from the Perfect Cognivore, blasting the cinnamon particles away from himself. The wave flowed rapidly in all directions, and James couldn't help but flinch as a handful of his players got caught in it. While the Perfect Cognivore wasn't affected. The players who were now clutching their eyes, crying out in irritation and coughing up a storm, apparently were. James could see a blinded status, as well as a suffocation status, pop up on those poor players. Ouch.

"Now then." James's Secret Boss glanced around himself, before turning his focus completely onto The Candy Man. "How about we begin this fight anew, good sir?" As he spoke, James saw eight more harpoons load themselves into the cannons on The Perfect Cognivore's hands. Furthermore, the steam flowing from his body continued to pour out, until it completely covered the secret boss. A moment later, James's boss's form vanished from the battlefield. James may have upgraded his boss with the cloaking ability from the Spy's on his second floor. And by may have, he totally did.

"Very well." The Candy Man replied. He slammed his candy axe into the ground and rose his gumdrop covered fist towards the sky. The dark brown gingerbread cookie, coated in a green gumdrop, began to glow with a faint brown color. "I shall introduce you to my dear friend, The Muffin Man."
