Their room was so dark that they wouldn’t be able to see their fingers if they held out their hands. By then, Han Changsheng and An Yuan put out the light and went to bed.

Just as they fell asleep, An Yuan suddenly moved, reaching for the sword beside his bed. A good martial artist always kept his weapon within easy reach, to avoid attacks in his sleep. He heard light footsteps and gentle breaths outside, right at the door to his room.

Han Changsheng pressed An Yuan’s hand, sliding his arm around his waist and pulling him closer. In his ear, he whispered, “Don’t fuss.”

An Yuan was shocked. He didn’t know what Han Changsheng was thinking. But, since the man wasn’t flustered, there shouldn’t be any danger.

The door was gently pushed open, and a shadow crept inside.

An Yuan got even more nervous. Han Changsheng could feel the stiffness of his limbs and gently rubbed his waist to calm him. That only made him even more rigid.

The black shadow moved to Han Changsheng and An Yuan’s bedside to have a look, then turned to the corner to undo the acupoints of the unlucky Mingyue disciple. Then, the unlucky man rose. The black shadow made a silent gesture to him, and the two ran out, their steps light.

After they left, An Yuan sat up and lit the candlestick at the head of the bed. “Who was that just now?”

Han Changsheng said, “Zheng Feng-er.”

An Yuan frowned. “Why did she take him away?”

Han Changsheng shrugged. “She said she had her own method to ask questions, so I’m letting her try. I don’t know what her plan is, but I believe that girl can pry answers far better than we.”

An Yuan squinted at him for a while and said, “You have quite a lot of friends. You meet them on the road, and they’re willing to help you do these things. It’s said that Zheng Feng-er is not a small figure. She’s the leader of the Fufeng stronghold, there’s no telling how many men in the world want to marry her. She’s like royalty compared to us; I don’t understand how you could have conscripted her to work for you.”

With a cheeky smile, Han Changsheng said, “Your Shifu is very powerful. I always have people willing to do anything for me.”

An Yuan looked at him in silence.

Yawning with a smile, Han Changsheng blew out the candle’s fire and lazily said, “Go to sleep, maybe there will be news tomorrow.”

Giving him a look in the darkness, An Yuan turned over and laid down.

The next morning, Han Changsheng and An Yuan went downstairs for breakfast. They saw Zheng Feng-er sitting there, leisurely drinking morning tea.

Sitting down beside her, Han Changsheng grabbed a steamed bun from the table and brought it to his lips to nibble. “How did things go?”

With a triumphant smile, Zheng Feng-er said, “I already told you, leave it to me.”

The night before, Zheng Feng-er pretended to be a good rescuer and saved the unlucky man. She would have confused him, taking advantage of the fact that man was very grateful and trusted her, then asked him her questions.

It turned out that Elder Yuan Yue, who had been killed, was very strict because he was in charge of the martial arts scripts and the Mingyue Sect’s sword script. He offended many people, mostly from the Mingyue Sect. Because he was in charge of the secret sword script, he had the right to speak about which level of Kung Fu should be taught to each disciple.

Some of his disciples had reached the age of introduction. One of the masters also wanted to apply to Elder Yuan Yue, but he was rejected, because his Kung Fu wasn’t good enough. Elder Yuan Yue was unwilling to take out the script.

Because of that, the disciples and their masters who had been confined from the outside world hated him. There were also grumpy elders in the Mingyue Sect that didn’t speak to him. In a rage, they said that they wanted to kill him.

After hearing this, An Yuan frowned and said, “It seems the person who killed the Mingyue’s elder might be someone from the Mingyue.”

Han Changsheng nodded. “They are in the Wulin… Well, isn’t there a saying in the right way of the Wulin? Something like domestic ugliness should not be publicized, so they sent out news in such a hurry, saying that he was killed by someone from the demonic cult. If it doesn’t work out well, it’s really their own sect’s misfortune.”

With a smile, Zheng Feng-er said, “It’s possible. Don’t worry, I’ve got everything under control. I’ll find out if rocks appear after the water recedes.”

Han Changsheng was very relieved because of her. When someone took over, he was too lazy to argue. He said, “I’ll hand over the matter to you.”

After An Yuan rose to go to the toilet, Han Changsheng asked Zheng Feng-er, “Hey, who was that fat man with you yesterday? Where is he?”

Zheng Feng-er’s eyes flashed a chilly light, and she smiled. “Him? He was the leader of the Jiu Daomen. It’s said that he wanted to find trouble with the Tianning Cult. I happened to be idle and bored, so I played with him for a couple of days.”

Han Changsheng frowned. “Played for a couple of days?”

Zheng Feng-er took a book from her arms and shook it in front of Han Changsheng. “Their sword script. I’ll send some copies to the Wulin Alliance someday to see how strong he is.”

Han Changsheng’s eyebrows rose, and he nodded approvingly to her. Unexpectedly, he had received a good mischievous ally.

When An Yuan returned, Zheng Feng-er hid the sword script. After breakfast, she said, “I’ll go to the Mingyue first.”

Han Changsheng nodded. “Go.”

Zheng Feng-er looked at An Yuan. In the past few days, An Yuan’s makeup had rubbed off a lot. Han Changsheng hated how unpleasant An Yuan’s pig head makeup looked, thus he removed some and made some touch-ups so he wasn’t as ugly as before. Zheng Feng-er thought of An Yuan’s real face, which was devastatingly beautiful, enough to bring a city to its knees, and was very sorry she couldn’t take off all the leftover makeup on his face.

An Yuan wondered, “Why are you staring at me?”

Swallowing her saliva, Zheng Feng-er squinted and said, “Xiao An Yuan, if I can do this, find the real murderer, would you like to sleep with this sister?”

Han Changsheng kicked her. “Get lost, get lost, get lost! Do you practice the Kung Fu of the succubus fox absorbing men’s vitality? Don’t be delusional. Get out of here!”

Zheng Feng-er curled her lips upwards, snorted, then walked away with her head up high. As she walked, she muttered in a low voice, “Didn’t you say it yourself that you don’t like men? Why are you being so possessive? Tsk.”

An Yuan bowed his head and took a sip of tea to hide his pounding heart. Ah, was he jealous? He must be. I didn’t know that he was actually a jar of vinegar.

Han Changsheng didn’t see into An Yuan’s mind at all. He grabbed a stick of oil and threw it into his mouth. Chewing it, he let his mind wander. They traveled from East to West, from West to East, checking over a large circle. As a result, they weeded out a lot of irrelevant people.

Who was behind the Tianyuan Villa? They couldn’t find a single trace. Was the person who killed Huangfu Tugen the same as the one that killed Elder Yuan Yue? Although it was really hateful to frame the demonic cult, if it had nothing to do with Huangfu Tugen, all their troubles would’ve been in vain.

“What are you thinking?” An Yuan asked.

“I’m thinking of the matter with your father,” Han Changsheng said, “I don’t know if I can discover the murderer this time.”

An Yuan looked down. Han Changsheng had been so interested in his affairs, he practically made them his own. After such a long time, it would be a lie to say he wasn’t moved. Han Changsheng’s deep affection for him made him lose his cool. It was a pity that the guy hid so many things, his thoughts were too unfathomable for An Yuan.

Zheng Feng-er volunteered to take over the investigation. She clapped her chest and promised to give Han Changsheng a result within a few days. Han Changsheng, Lu Qingqian, and Lu Baibi were happy for the time being.

As soon as An Yuan cleared some time out of his busy routine, he would go to Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi and have a cordial talk with them. However, Han Changsheng was very vigilant with him and refused to give An Yuan a chance to catch them alone. Even so, he had to poke and prod a lot of words out of them. If there was anyone to blame, it was that the left and right protectors taught by Tianning were too simple minded. One word from An Yuan was enough for them to dig the pit themselves, and even Han Changsheng’s cry couldn’t stop them.

Han Changsheng spent a few days in such a state of trepidation. He couldn’t bear it. He was so afraid that Lu Baibi and Lu Qingqian would sell him out completely if they went on like this. So, he decided to send them away.

Trying to find a day to do it, Han Changsheng broke from An Yuan and went to Xiao Qing and Xiao Bai’s room.

Opening the door to find them, he asked, “When will you go back to Xiushan? Don’t you need to deal with the affairs of the Tianning?”

Lu Baibi and Lu Qingqian looked blankly at each other. Although they were the left and right protectors, the Tianning couldn’t turn to them when dealing with the clan or academic affairs. In fact, no one dared to assign any cult responsibility to them. Of course, they dared not give them to Han Changsheng, either. Xiao Qing and Xiao Bai’s task was to protect Han Changsheng, to accompany him, and to catch him and bring him back when he left school again and again and again.

Seeing that they didn’t understand, Han Changsheng scratched his head in a hurry and said, “I will assign you a task. There are two months to go before the Wulin alliance. Go find out which sects are participating.”

“Why do you want us to look into that?” Lu Baibi asked, “Do you want to go to the Wulin assembly?”

“Of course,” Han Changsheng said, “I’m a person with a grand conspiracy and ambition. How could there be less of me in the Wulin assembly?”

Lu Qingqian pouted. “Won’t you find out who will be there when you go?.”

Han Changsheng glared at him and said, “Let’s check, anyway. Why are you complaining so much, won’t you listen to your leader?”

Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi exchanged a look. They were wronged, but they were clever once they were onto something. “Lord, are you going to drive us away?” Lu Baibi asked.

Lu Qingqian said, “An Yuan said you don’t like us. You don’t want us to talk, so you’re driving us away.”

Han Changsheng almost breathed old blood. “Do you believe what that bastard said or not? We even shared a pair of underpants when we were just kids, how could I not like you?”

Lu Baibi thought about it, then whispered, “I don’t believe it, but I’m afraid the leader will like him more than us.”

Angrily, Han Changsheng hummed, “What do I like about him?”

Wrongly, Lu Qingqian said, “The leader is with him every day and even sleeps with him.”

Han Changsheng dared not tell them he needed An Yuan to help him with his internal Qi, for fear they would use special means to force An Yuan to teach him the contents of his original internal skill later.

Of course, he also hoped to get away from An Yuan, but if he left An Yuan in Xiao Qing and Xiao Bai’s hands, he’d be abandoned to his Qi deviation by the descended immortal for good.

He said, “That guy’s a scoundrel. Don’t talk to him if you have nothing to do, he’ll trick you! Besides, how could I not like you? … Unless you destroy my good plot and sell me out. I have warned you again and again not to reveal to An Yuan my real identity or mention the Tianning Cult to him. If you do that, I will not let you be my protectors!”

Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi pouted.

Laughing, Han Changsheng coaxed them, “Good Xiao Qing, good Xiao Bai. Go check the current Wulin Alliance leader and his son Lu Wenlin for me. Also, we need to find out how all the past Wulin leaders became the leaders and what conditions they had to meet to become leaders.”

Surprised, Lu Qingqian asked, “Master, do you want to be the leader of the Wulin Alliance?”

Han Changsheng waved repeatedly. “I’m the leader of the demonic cult. Why would I become the leader of the Wulin? I will support a puppet to become the leader of the Wulin. In this way, will the Wulin not be played with applause by us?”

Although Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi were at a loss, they still looked like they adored him. It sounded like a grand conspiracy!

At that time, someone knocked at the door. Opening it, Han Changsheng saw Zheng Feng-er, who had been gone for several days.

Zheng Feng-er leaned on the doorframe. With a smile, she said, “Lord, I have done what you entrusted me to do.”

In surprise, Han Changsheng asked, “Have you found the murderer?”

Flicking her finger towards Han Changsheng, she said cunningly, “You spend the night with me… I will tell you.”

Turning to Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi, Han Changsheng said, “Pack your things and get ready to go on the task I gave you.” Then he took Zheng Feng-er out.

When he reached a place where no one could hear them, Han Changsheng stopped and said, “Tell me, what have you found?”

“I don’t understand why you’re so unromantic,” Zheng Feng-er said. However, she didn’t entangle herself in the matter too much. Proudly, she said, “I’ve found all of them, including where the Mingyue sword script is now.”

Shocked, Han Changsheng immediately said, “Where is it? Come on, tell me in detail. What’s going on?”

There were two flowers, one for each of them.

Han Changsheng had been guarding against An Yuan those days. He didn’t give him the chance to get Lu Baibi and Lu Qingqian. However, when he took Zheng Feng-er away, he was so excited that he forgot he’d give An Yuan a chance to interrogate the two protectors. When An Yuan returned to the inn, he went straight to Lu Qingqian’s and Lu Baibi’s room. Seeing that they were packing up, it shocked him. “What are you doing?”

“We’re going,” Lu Baibi said.

“Where to?” An Yuan asked.

Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi looked furious, like they were unwilling to talk to him.

An Yuan asked again. Finally, Lu Qingqian said, “He said you’re a trickster. We won’t talk to you. You will deceive us if we talk to you.”

An Yuan laughed. Needless to ask, the he they meant was Han Changsheng. He could imagine how Han Changsheng said that to them, his teeth gnashing. Unfortunately, those two guys didn’t have any clever intent, so they shook his words out.

“What good would come out of my lying to you?” An Yuan asked. “I only ask because I care about him. He said that you don’t have a sect, that you’re wandering swordsmen in the country. You grew up together. Do you have the same master?”

Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi kept Han Changsheng’s admonishments in mind. They didn’t accept his stubble.

An Yuan wasn’t worried. As long as Han Changsheng was away, he wasn’t afraid of asking questions. Taking advantage of the rare opportunity, he refused to let them leave so easily. Smiling, he said, “Since you’re unwilling to say it, maybe your master isn’t a powerful person. You’re ashamed.”

Lu Baibi narrowed his eyes and smiled. “Nonsense! Everything Luo Xin teaches is the absolute best!”

An Yuan frowned. “Luo Xin? Are you not in a sect? Luo Xin, I think I’ve heard that name before.”

The brothers looked at each other, then grabbed their bags and turned to leave.

Taking a deep breath, An Yuan was hesitant. However, when they were about to pass him by, he asked, “Are you really people of the Tianning, the demonic cult?”

Lu Qingqian and Lu Baibi stiffened. Woodenly, they went out.

An Yuan turned around, his lips curling upwards, and said, “That’s right, a broken sect like the Tianning that is being insulted by everyone. So you’re linked to it, but even if the cult were to change, there would be no difference. People will still think Tianning is a stupid cult.”

Before he finished speaking, three darts shot out, aiming towards An Yuan’s feet. If An Yuan didn’t dodge quickly, they’d be severed by now. Lu Baibi drew out his knife, his white smile red with anger. His face dark, he said, “If you dare say anything bad about my Tianning Cult, I’ll fight you without remorse.”

Raising his eyebrows, An Yuan said, “So, you really are a member of the Tianning?”

Lu Qingqian took out another three darts, placing them between his fingers. “Today, I’ll show you the power of the left and right protectors of the Tianning Cult!”

Even if An Yuan expected it, he stumbled when he met such a self-important person. “…So, you’re not just a normal sect member? Instead, both of you are the two main guardian warriors of the cult?”

Lu Baibi no longer spoke nonsense. He struck forward with his knife, but An Yuan didn’t attack. He blocked with his sword and flew back with his strength. Then he broke open the window and jumped out!
